  • CHARLIES PLACE IS HIDDEN WELL MILES IN TO DEATH VALLEY BIN ALSO

  • Nice vid! Did u see the face in the rock at 1:45?

  • I dont think i'd want to go there knowing that charlie manson stayed there. And wasn't that one of the places he killed soneone and burried in the back? Toi creepy.

  • @Ambkn1 ive got the matress that was found @ barker ranch,it smells whiffy but its comfy .

  • @Ambkn1

That was Spahn Ranch were a ranch hand was killed and dumped down a canyon.

  • @TheRavenEffect88 He still stayed at this place though, didn't he?

  • @Ambkn1

Charlie and some of the family relocated here after they were picked up after the la bianca murders. It was at the barker ranch charlie was captured for the final time.

  • @Ambkn1 they believe that people where buryed under the pool. and at the first ranch they killed "shorty" and threw his body down a mind shaft.

  • i am, SOOOOOOOOOO jealous.

  • It is amazing that all that stuff from the Manson era stayed there all those years.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • I have been there, I am thoroughly convinced that ranch is haunted. I didn't spend a night there, you couldn't pay me enough to sleep there, however it was one of the stops along the way on the Death Valley Ralley. Its definitely the creepiest place Ive ever been to. Its eerily quiet, which is odd for wilderness, and everyone in our group experienced feelings of despair, hatred, and sadness. I'm no paranormal expert, but there is something there. Sometimes, something just stays behind.

  • that bird needs a drink...... nigga pleez!

  • how far is death valley from L.A.?

  • WTF!! bobby beausoleils 4x4 powerwagon let me guess it had silver stars painted on the inside of the roof?

  • The ranch house may be gone but the ranch is still a far out place to kick back and trip. The night is so alive you can hear voices in the air. The hair on your neck will try to pull it self from its roots to get away. Turn out the lantern, put the fire out, and then walk around in the dark, you never know what you will bump into. Have fun and burn a fatty, pretty soon it may be legal.

  • i might be going up to spahn pretty soon i live close anyone want to go check out whats left?,

  • @shnozzel12 If you haven't gone yet it's in the Santa Susana State Historic Park. Check the CA State Parks website for details. Having been there, stay on the trails. Tons of poison oak and rattlesnakes in the hills, especially in late spring to late fall. Definitely worth the trip.

  • Wonder how Charlie knew to run to Barker? Had he been before? How did he know they could stay there?

  • @charliezz46 they got access to barker when he told the owners he was afilated to the beachboys and gave them one of the gold albums that dennis wilson had given to him! (or he syole from dennis) !

  • the granny of one of the manson girls lived just a short distance away from the ranch...

  • Have any idea who this member was? Was this girl all he had to go on that they would want & be able to stay there?

  • not sure her name, keep looking at vids her name will pop up. Granny lived just up the road from Barker ranch, try google earth map, find barker ranch, it should give you grannies name.

  • charliezz46, it was Cappy's grandma

  • I just checked, the Barker ranch didn't burn down that was the Spahn movie ranch up in Chats worth, the Santa Susanna Pass area, pretty close to where i live, yeah that place is gone, but the creek and caves are still there to explore

  • Spahn burnt down a long time ago. Barker Ranch was recently burnt down as well though a lot of the structure is stone so a good portion should still remain.

  • awsem trip glad i got buds think we will find any bodys they 4 got to look 4

  • i heard it was torched to bad it was a peace of history

  • Does anyone know who Chuckle's interior decorator was? Manson had taste.

  • From what I gather, the only items that are still on site that was used by Manson and the gang..is the homemade stove, the oven, toilet, curtain and an old table, sadly probably only one or two(if that)remain.

  • barker was torched on 5/07/09.....glad you got the video

  • That's a real shame. It was a real piece of history, even if it was associated with Manson. I am gutted I won't be able to go!

  • Yeah..such a shame. Something about the place..should have been left intact.

  • Bravo, well done!

  • i just went there 3/1/09 and one of the look out chairs is gone sadly... some fool stole it prolly to try and get money for it.

  • Good video. I thought Barker Ranch was torn completely down. Anyway thanks for sharing.

  • Spahn ranch burned down in 1970. I think that is what you are thinking of.

  • Yes thank you.

  • Harrisburg is an even better option for a starting point that Stove Pipe Wells come to think of it. It's significantly closer.

  • Vegas is 4.5 hours from Ballarat(the next closest thing to Barker Ranch). I would recommend you rest the night before in Ridgecrest as I did or Stove Pipe Wells. This will allow you as much time as possible to get out of the mountains before nightfall. Don't cut it close like I did. I nearly was stuck in the mountains during night. If you'd like specific details of what made my trip easier send me a message. I'd be happy to give you as much info as needed to ensure a safe trip.

  • Can you tell me how to get there. I got close once but no cigar.

  • I am intending to find Barker Ranch in February 2009 and am travelling from England. It is my intention to stay in las Vegas. I will be renting a 4WD. Is it realistic to get from Vegas to Barker Ranch and back in the expected 10 daylight hours there will be in February?

  • love this song who is it what song

  • Read the details to the right of the video. It's "Viens Avec Moi" by Devotchka off their album "How It Ends".

  • The stretch of Trona-Wildrose Road that drops down into Panamint Valley always creeps me out. Sometime in the last few years I developed a fear of heights; I was never that way when I was younger :P

  • do the hills have eyes?

  • Not dissing your trip at all, but the reason I love this video is the song. Kudos

  • This place looks really interesting. It's in pretty good shape too. I would like to go and see it some day. Are there any organised tours that you ca do, or are you left to your own travel? I can't drive unfortunately.

  • There are no organized tours. I doubt there is enough of a public interest for there to ever be. If you decide to go yourself I recommend you at least get an SUV preferably one with 4 wheel drive. Without 4 wheel drive you probably won't get more than 200 feet into the mountains. Without an SUV the ride to the opening of the mountains will be 4 times as long.

  • I live in Colorado Springs, and have a Jeep. I was planning a trip there. My brother lives in Vegas and I let my Aunt and Uncle from Germany to go to Death Valley. I gave them directions to Barker Ranch and they were a little spooked. They spent the day in Scotty's Castle instead. I guess I'll have to go there next year.... I bought the CD! Excellent suggestion... Where do you guys live?

  • We live in the San Francisco Bay Area. If you read up enough in regards to the terrain, and leave yourself PLENTY of time you'll be fine in getting there. The moment you feel pressed for time I recommend you save the trip into the mountains for another day.

  • Cheers,nrvana82. Wonder how many visitors it actually gets..

  • is that a guy sitting beside a rock, or is it a ghost or a rock?

  • Yes...

  • Irish42matice, thanks for answering my question

  • I'm always a great resource for answers... never be afraid to ask :)

  • lol

  • Awesome song... Who was it? I'm going to visit the Barker Ranch in Sept '08.. Yikes.

  • It's "Viens Avec Moi" by Devotchka. Look them up. They are excellent.

  • irish42matic, did you go? Was it sill the same?

  • I had to turn the retarded music off.

  • i went and saw barker ranch with my family in california. they had a log book for all the people that came 2 see it. it gave me the creeps!

  • When we visited in late March there was no log book anymore. At least none that we saw.

  • did you use a fictious name lol

  • this is a cool video.

  • I am actually amazed its still there after all these years and kids haven't vandalized it..It's important piece of history that's for sure...Very nice job on the video!

  • Isn't it strange how kids take such good care of eveel thingsss

  • It's not evil, It's just a ranch where a psycho and his minions hung out.

  • lol

  • It's Evil... Very EVIL! Everyone stay away! Psst... keep it a secret!

  • irish, no real travel plans. I'm from the UK and thought if I ever did get to California I'd like to visit. Would hate it if broke down or something though. Miles from any people!!

  • Rent the movie Wolfcreek... That is the type of place Death Valley is... YIKES!

  • Don't bother going there - it's a long drive there are no motels out there and you'll end up sleeping in the car if you get stuck, try Scotty's Castle that has a weird history.

  • Sleeping in your car is a potential result, but if your car doesn't get stuck you can find a motel about an hour and a half away.

  • If your making this a battle about kids vs. adults..pick a new battle.

  • Viens Avec Moi is off their album How It Ends, not Una Volta

  • Corrected.

  • all those signs would make you think that someone's been living there or camping out there or something

  • dude i wanna go to barker ranch to see wat it would be like knowing that that was the last hideout of the infamous charles manson

  • definitely, its gotta be mad hot out there though.

  • ya man but still if u take a jeep or truck with air conditioning there and keep the windows down u get used to the heat eventually, its a trick i picked hitchhicking across alberta(southern regions)

  • Actually the high was about 82 degrees when I went. I knew the desert got cold at night but being the stupid city boy I am I had no clue how cold exactly. On the ride down from the mountains the temperature easily dropped 10-15 degrees in about 15 minutes along with winds of about 30-40mph through the night.
