  • Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Please check out Peter Glossop's youngest daughter's show reel on youtube - search Rosie Glossop's Showreel - He was very proud of her voice and sadly missed out on her performances but he would be encouraging her now if he were here with us today! Rosie is now trying to find a good agent so if anyone reading has any contacts please get in touch and help Rosie to follow in her father's footsteps! Thanks ;-)

  • Peter and I were very good friends from the METROPOLITAN OPERA, and few times we went for some good beer. A great singer and fantastic human . I was not aware that he passed awayh. Bravissimo Peter.Tu amico, Carlos Montane

  • @Amber Glossop & family: Your father was a great singer, one only needs to listen to his art for one minute to know that! May he rest in peace.

  • mi ricordo questo baritono, dal vivo aveva una bellissima voce, bravo !

  • Who is playing Carmen in this clip - is it Joyce Blackham?

  • Fans of Famous British Baritone Peter Glossop:

I am planning on organising a memorial service to mark a year on from my dad's passing.

If anybody is reading this that knew my father or has any useful contacts in the opera world please do get in touch as I'd love to hear from you!

    Many thanks

    Amber Glossop

  • Your father was a true artist. Thanks for posting.

  • The greatest baritone the UK has ever had

  • Who's Carmen? F. Cossoto?

  • @rrgallo Yip, definitely

  • Wonderful baritone color, a very solid voice and such an easy upper extention. Thanks for such wonderful images!!!!

  • Peter Glossop was hailed as a star by the demanding audiences of Milan, Vienna and New York but he has never been given due recognition in his own country. Several singers who did not match his achievement have been honoured, but he was ignored. Even at this sad time the BBC Radio4 Today, a flagship news programme which in the past has led with accounts and clips from the life of an American blues singer and other pop idols who have passed on, has not even mentioned Peters death.

  • Thanks so much for posting this - it's wonderful!! My dad was one of a kind in every possible way!! If anybody wants to attend the funeral next week please contact me directly for details - it is in Exeter in Devon next Thursday.

  • My sincerest condolences on your loss. Your father was a great artist. May he rest in peace.

  • Amber: In the sixties and seventies I recorded, from Radio 3 live broadcasts, some of his great roles, including Nabucco, Don Carlos and Simon Boccanegra. I have since transferred these onto minidisc. If you would like to hear them I'd be glad to arrange it - or possibly to transfer them onto CD for you. Please let me know if this would be of interest to you. My deepest sympathy to your sister and yourself.

  • That would be absolutely amazing - I would appreciate it so much!! Thanks so much for your message!

  • Amber: Sorry, I've been away and have only just seen your response. I don't know how to contact you, but you could ring me on 01932 842802 and we could decide how I could get the stuff to you. Pearce
