What gets me is the way property taxes are in America, it is like you never own your home. Even after you have it all paid for, you still pay "rent' to the government.

Yes, I agree. We do not have property taxes in Russia as of today but the government is very interested in introducing property taxes.

Isn't it amazing that in the United States, a capitalist country supposedly based upon private property rights, that the people have come to accept taxes on private property?

Whenever I mention that this is immoral most people here defend the government's "right" to tax our property. Everyone assumes that if the rich are paying a higher tax it somehow benefits them.

These people never think deep enough to let principle govern their lives. Without principles how can we retain freedom?

Most Americans are very ignorant of their own countries rules and constitution, and the principles that were meant to govern the country. the average American knows little about what the documents actually say and just assume the government is telling them the truth, and that everything is purposeful. Then there are Americans like me who agree with you 100% and are mad at what is happening and been happening to this great country. I only hope that the people wake up before we fall into darkness.

i'm not kissing ass. But I have come to understand, corruption and immorality is not exclusively a American concept. its not hunky dory in other countries. In fact the same cabal working to undermine the US are the same group working to undermine Russia, China, Britain, Etc. The truth is, there is a very real danger WE the people(as in everyone) are in serious danger.

@wilsonpwt In fact a property tax exists in Russia too. But it is very small comparing to other countries. I owned a $200,000 two bedroom appartment there and it was cost me some $40 in taxes. Water, heating, cable, internet was cost me another $900 annually.

It is difficult to purchase land by itself. Better way is to purchase a house and then you will automatically get the land. Prices are significantly lower than in US or Canada.

This would be a very interesting topic. I know about RE prices in Ukraine but nothing about Russia. I guess it must be rather expensive in the biggest cities, in Kiev the prices are on par with Western Europe.
