  • That's amazing! And she's blind? Incredible!!!

  • She looks just like my first rat, Xena. :)

  • can you help me trainmy rat to do that

  • @RatHelper2000 Just google "Eva's Rat Agility Page" - that's all the advice I had on building fences and training rats. The rest you must learn from your rats!

(Best start with one rat - if the whole pack is on the loose, everyone will get confused, most of all the trainer. ;-) Later on the others can join.)

  • Good job Emma!!!

  • That is amazing! I would love to build an agility course but I have no idea how to do it...

  • THATS SO COOOL!!!!!!! im going to train my rats to do that :)

  • where did u get all that stuff from.. good work ..

  • all my rat dose id sit on my sholder and eat how in the hell did u trane ur rat i tryed bribing with food but she looks at me like ur fucking retarded if u think ima do that

  • awesome!!

  • Want a rat sooooooo bad!!!!!!!! mom has a phobia.

  • I love my rats. But that can't learn how to do anything. They know some stuff on their own though. my rat Lizzy can jump all the to the top of my couch and also jump out of a bathtub! My other rat, mandy, will only sit on your lap and shoulder. But i still luv them!

  • Thats fantastic! Good on youf or having such a close relationship with your pet! I think my boy rats are too fat and lazy. They would probably just go curl up and sleep in the bosxes instead!

  • @Jody4paws Hi, I don't think boys are lazier. I had a neutered male, Mr. Knightley, and he was just as good. :-)

  • @Xenikas74 Mr Knightley!!!! :D Thats an awesome name!!! :D

  • Sweet, I'd love to make my own agility course some time. I especially liked the over under bars.

  • @SiobhanDoyle Those were hardest to train!

  • how do you teach her? my rats are impossible to teach for wat i guess... :S

  • How do you get her to be so calm when you hold her? Mine gets all stingy and tries to squirm out of my hands

  • @VJakeV Well, she's eating, that's what calms her. Though when she grew old, she could sit on the couch with me for hours "watching" DVDs - she could neither see nor hear them, of course, but she always pointed her nose in the right direction. ;-)

  • @Xenikas74 wait ycant she see or hear them

  • @mcrfankifo That's right, at the time the video was made, she already was completely deaf and blind.

  • @MsGymnast4life

    All self-made. :-)

  • C'est énorme!

  • How can you tell if your rat is blind? I think one of mine are but I can't truly tell. Do you have any tests that could be helpful for this?

  • @jumpdog9 Most rats are pretty blind, they see mostly motion, that's why you will see them bob their heads when looking at something.

  • very smart little guy

  • Good job! :D She is very cute!

  • That is very good! Was it hard training her?

  • REKOORT ZEEEITT Emma hat gewonnen^^

echt süüüß. Großes fragezeiche in mein Kopf wie man ratten sowas beibringen kann^^ aber auch dafür 5 GROßE * sterne von mia cool weiter soo....^^

  • That's amazing! Even though he can't see, he can still go through the agility course perfectly!

  • rat whiskers are incredibly sensitive. They can feel very small details, down the ridges on your fingerprint with ease.

  • go emma!

  • way to go emma, great job..!!

  • dude your blind rat just showed my rats up.

  • I think I got my two girls when they were too old to get them as tame and trained as this. They're clearly smart though. When they're loose they always figure out ways to get places and always remember escape routes

  • Yes, she really loved it. Even when she was blind and deaf. I wouldn't train a rat when she has no fun.

  • that is amazing! think its great thing to keep them stimulated and happy, soo cute too!

  • i have heard that a red eyed rat is called a ruby eyed but im not sure how you tell if there blind... is the redness just in one eye

  • How can you tell if their blind? I don't think mine are but I have an albino with red eyes =/ maybe he is? idk =)

  • thats cool!

  • hes blind. hes so clever

  • Should teach him to climb into vending machines and push out free items!

  • @joesmoe71 hahahaha luv it

  • Well, trained rat.

    White rat look kind cute.

  • das is ne erstaunlich schlaue ratte

  • So schlau sind sie eigentlich alle - ist nur eine Frage des Trainings. Was Emma da vorführt, kann man jeder durchschnittlich intelligenten Ratte beibringen. (Und Emma war zum Zeitpunkt der Aufnahme schon taub und blind!)

  • missä musiikki ?

  • Thats a true sweetheart! So cute, and very skilled to =)

  • I didn't - seems to be a bug. Try replay, it should be normal speed then.

  • wow, good work for a blind rat.... no, good work, period!!!! :)

  • i miss my rats

    nice training by the way=P

  • Wirklich Klasse! Ganz tolles Video ^^

  • amazing! im trying to learn my rats agility to! :)

  • Sure, all albinos have pink eyes, but not all pink-eyed rats are albinos ;-)

  • Verry nice ; )

  • she isn´t blind.

    she have just red eyes.

it´s normal for this race "albino"

  • You can believe me, she really was blind. She didn't even react to bright light, and in unfamiliar surroundings ran straight into anything she couldn't smell.

Besides, I noticed the change - she was poor-sighted from her youth because of her red eyes, but in old age she lost her eyesight completely.

  • btw.: She wasn't an albino, but a very light colour. You can't really see that in the video.

  • one word... WOW! im glad your treating her like anormal rattie :) well done you

  • Toll, aber bitte am ende des parkours die ratte in ruhe ihre belohnung essen lassen ...

  • i think its really cool that u have a blind rat and u still treat it like a normal rat.

  • good job emma!

  • hehe my name is emma. i love ratties.

  • holy fruckn shit!! how do u do that?!! jeeze, my rat dont even let me near it, gee i wonder why, i saved from bein food to a snake, but i feed her by hand. we're makin progress! (in a way)

  • she is a cute rate i have 2 i try to train them but it dont work out

  • Wow, I just read that she's blind. Amazing stuff - you must be a very dedicated trainer.

  • this was fine, cause it looks like the rat follows the foof BUT has fun- and that´s the main thing!

  • What happens when the snacks run out?

  • When a rat gets really hooked, you don't need snacks any more. I had one rat who used to take the treat, just put it aside and run to the starting point again.

Emma, of course, needed something she could smell in order to know where she was going. (I change the order of the obstacles every time, so she couldn't just know from experience.)

  • wow thats cool how shes blind and she can still do that. i love rats.

  • Beautiful rat. It's amazing how she's blind and still does a wonderful job.

  • nice job!

  • un rat peut tout faire du moment qu'il y a a manger devant lui

  • le pire, c'est que c'est vrai...

  • How long did that take you and how often did you do it?

  • I used to work with Emma almost every day. I don't really remember when the video was made, but to teach a rat the obstacle course shown in the video would usually take no more than a couple of weeks (though I take care not to introduce the more difficult obstacles too early - the rats tend to lose confidence then).

  • OMG HOW DID U GET UR RAT TO DO THAT! Lol mine just sit on my shoulder and bite my hair but I love them! Best pets ever... im a rodent addict

  • @animallover99045 same lol!

  • Cool! It must be harder to train a PEW though. I got a Standard Essex. He eats like a PIG. -__-

  • Actually Emma was a husky rat of some very light colour, difficult to describe - anyway, she was not completely white, but her eyes were an even lighter pink than those of an albino, really translucent.

The only difficulty I have with rats of poor eyesight is that they can't estimate differences so well, so they are more hesitant with jumping obstacles. But if you train them patiently enough, they get more confident.

  • Cute!! Nice Equipment!! Great training!! I also have a rat agility video here at YouTube, please come take a look, her name is Nineveh and her name is in the title. There's a little fashion show at the end of my video, ever seen a rat dressed before?

    Marna Kazmaier

  • REALLY! Is she blind?

  • wow cool rat

  • HI.

I am rather fascinated. Where can I buy these items you use for the agillity? I would like to try it myself with my rats:-)

  • The obstacles are all self-made. I got most of the inspiration from "Eva's Rat Agility Page".

  • Why, Emma is not big, she is rather average-sized. She weighs around 330 g.

  • majority of pews (pink eyed whites) and other ruby eyed animals are blind or partially sighted, if u watch, they sway to get their bearings. Its adorable. I love strawberry flavored eyes!! Gawjus!!

  • aww!!

  • hey, nice video! do you have something on your hand?

  • I have a piece of banana in my hand so that Emma can smell it. Due to her blindness, otherwise it's hard for her to keep track of my finger.

  • where do you get the equitment from?

  • It's all self-made.

  • i think its really cool that u have a blind rat and u still treat it like a normal rat.

I think the world needs more pleople like u!

    -poop lol

  • SHES BLIND!?!?!?!?!omg thats is one good mouse

  • great job! especially with he being blind! kudos to you and Emma!

  • where do you get the agility stuff from??

  • I made it myself, with inspiration from "Eva's Rat Agility Page".

  • i have a baby rat...how did u find out if it was blind...mine has red eyes too. shes only about 3weeks old i think...but its almost like she has a white pupil right now...i dunno...its weird..

  • A vet could check the pupils' reflexes. You can also tell from the rat's behaviour. When running around, Emma completely ignores any objects she can't smell, unless she touches them by chance. Also, if I hold her in front of a table, she doesn't reach out for it until her whiskers touch the edge. Recently, she doesn't even react when I turn on the light, though all the other rats look up.

She wasn't completely blind until she was well over 2 years, though.

  • yea, i could do that...i was thinking about going to the petstore, but theyre kinda stupid...dont know much...but yea the vets looking pretty good right now.

  • That's awesome that she still does it so well even though she's blind. :D
