@JamesBoy4LifeMan4Luv i'm not sure. the ironman is what 2.4 mile swim, 100+ on a bike and a marathon. Ridiculously amazing to be sure. But i've read the tour de france is the equivalent of doing something like energy equivalent of running about 20 marathons in in 20 days days. I'd bet the toll on your body over a month would be bigger. i bet this is more energy in a single day but tour seems like more over time. but both are amazing.
great video... they were idiots, those officials (lucky not to get a DQ, if in fact she didn't). An abrupt ending, but I suppose there is not much footage of this.
This is a very sad example what professional sports can do to a human and a total failure of the supervising doctors.
She should have been taken out of the run and to a hospital at once, and anybody that thinks her irresponsible treatment of her body and health is inspiring should remember that she xould have dies on that day!
@schusterlehrling obviously you dont understand what sports are about, this women had just spent her entire day competing to win this race, and months before that training , if officials had taken her out of the race she would have been livid, and dissapointed, she would have chalked it up as a failure, so she did what she felt she had to do, she used every ounce of energy to finish the race. If thats not inspiring to you, then i wonder what is
Caught this link from a poster on "TheBlaze.com". There is a story there right now of a 16 year old girl in San Francisco who crawled across the finish line so her team could win the state championship for their coach, who was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease. Such heart as these two women possess should be always enshrined in our souls as a thing to always strive for...
@mikeportnoyfan No, this is the reason WHY you do triathlons. If you don't want to know how far you can go then sure, stay home, eat some chips, watch some football, enjoy, but if perhaps you want to know what you're made of and what you can do if you really try then a triathlon is one of the good ways to do so. What you really meant to say was: Pain scary so no thanks.
lol, my friend is a triathlon runner, he is six foot 2, 130 pounds. He has been sent to E.R many times because of running, swimming, and cycling too much. Our hearts can only take so much work. And that is why when i do cardio i do it for 15-30 mins at a fast pace.
@mikeportnoyfan right, you're afraid of pain so you shy away from real effort. It's ok, some of us are cowards. The fact that your friend keeps going back proves that he has grit and the fact that you don't see the value in it shows that you don't.
yes u are right I'd rather do something that is considered healthier and better for you, as opposed to doing something that might harm you and make you a skinny bitch. Don't even bring my friend into this, he's going to kill himself one of these days.
@mikeportnoyfan We all die at some point at least your friend won't die of a diabetes fused to his couch like a fatass with cheetos smeared all over every one of his eight chins. Death doing what you love is not a bad way to go. Good luck with your chosen path of sloth.
exactly and triathalons are for long peroids of time. There is a reason why triathalon runners are all skinny. i know a guy who competes and he has heart problems, he is 20 years old.
Wow, Julie Moss is amazing. And yeah, if you're not listening to Radiolab, you're missing the best show (TV, radio, or any media) out there. Those guys are great!
Thanks to Radiolab and to Julie Moss. The story about limits was incredible and Julie's story was inspirational, funny, sad, and a testament to the strength that we all hope we will have in extreme circumstances.
radiolab ftw! i also found this video after listening to the Limits show. the interview is pretty interesting, but this video adds substance that radio can't convey on its own...

I read she didn't eat enough during the bike ride. They say the Tour De France is the most demanding, but I think this Ironman thing takes the cake.
