I plugged a Magnum S45HP original microphone with a great audio improvement. On your 8 pin plug solder on the: 1 White; 2 Brown; 3 Black; 4 Nothing; 5 Red; 6 Blue; 7 Shield. You also can adjust the AM and FM modulation separatly easily inside the rig (it's written "AM or FM mod" . The UP button works on the mic to change the channel but not the Down one. why ? I don't know...I didn't find the SSB power adjustment inside the radio...
Hello dr OM. Nice video. There is also a similar rig in my collection. Its an Albrecht AE-485s MKII (Germany) , incl. two ERF2030 in the final. Best 73's to you and yours from Stefan, Zurich......
the optima currently uses the pcbx952r2 mother board ..which is very different from the mother board used in the Albrecht/magnum transceivers...lots more shielding.
the transceiver can also scan the memories by pressing function then button four (LCR) something the Albrecht/magnums can not do. yeticomnz
Whats the bleed over like?????.....a lot of glorified cb's have no end of problems with nearby stations, and stations with lots of power on nearby frequencies
great video work...... the main changes are to the freq bands and the fact the tranceiver now can operate "spilt" on all frequency bands (24.500-29.999mhz) the tranceiver also has option for usa 40 channels only /New Zealand 40 channels only operation /12 and 10 meters only(24.500-24.999/28.000-29.999mhz/or in freeband mode 24.500-29.999mhz no gaps......no more channel bands..no gaps.other main feature is the switchable I.F filter .Mike (tech) Yeti Communications
Can you give a honest opinion on the RX sensitity of this radio. I owned years ago the Magnum 257 and was not impressed at all with the rx. It sucked. Lots of noise interferance, especially when it was first turned on... needed to warm up and wined while it was doing it. Love the radio features and always wished it worked decent.
@skarols Yes, but this isn't an Magnum or Albrecht. It shares the same casing but inside is a completely different board revision. This particular radio is made in HK. Good audio on TX and RX
when can i get one of these mark2 new version ?

Easy fnordist, just go buy yourself a 1000$ transceiver.

the radio is a toy for my opinion, today you can get an Allmode TRX for less than 1000$ with clean 100w Pout.
and the S Meter looks more as disco flickering, it doesnt even display the RMS of the incoming station on SSB.
The Tuning Knob is a joke too.
