FRS (Family Radio Service) Radios only transmit and receive for about .5mi...... unless you are in the line of sight without ANYTHING blocking the view from the other radio. the companies' "28" miles are based on line of sight, which is also not accurate for your life.

Not to break your heart but the signal will only go 1 mile at best. FRS is only .5 watt. pair that with UHF and you won't get far. Plus you can't change the antennas. GMRS can make it 20 miles with a repeater but those radios won't make it far at all. Marketing gimmick.

I learned nothing from this, everyone knows the miles listed are never true for hand held Frs/Gmrs radios, I was interested in range IT IS NOT 20 some miles, it's going to be maybe 2 miles if you're lucky, but I was actually interested in stats "back up what you say"
