Ok know your history. Most blacks were registered republicans, like Lincoln. It wasn't against the law for blacks to vote but for blacks to vote republican. That version of the republican died after WW2. The republican party today isn't the same. Today's party is mainly money and big business motivated. Being a liberal socialist today simply means that you're concerned for the less fortunate, downcast, etc) Since he was a minister of the Gospel thats who Jesus would have cared about today.
@WisePatman You do know that most black were registered republicans until the civil rights era? But when the GOP/Tea party embraced the racist Democrats who turned Republican like Strom Thurmond who didn't want to support progress that all changed. And clearly MLK's beliefs were nothing of the GOP/Tea Party just listen to his speeches. .
"It is disingenuous to imply that my father was a Republican. He never endorsed any presidential candidate, and there is certainly no evidence that he ever even voted for a Republican. It is even more outrageous to suggest that he would support the Republican Party of today, which has spent so much time and effort trying to suppress African American votes in Florida and many other states."
I take that back. King was a liberal socialist, just as you say. Possibly even worse. We know he was a womanizer and back room dealer, just like Jesse Jerkson. Had King been president, he would have been just as horrible as Obama.
@jasonc0065 You wish. LOL Listen to his words. He sounds nothing like them. None of them ever fought for the poor the way he did or asked that the Federal government helped the poor the way he did.
@WisePatman you are right. The irony is funny considering Strom has black children.
