I'm sure Nike/Maria had hoped to show off her new creations through out her two week battle at the Australian Open. In terms of marketing...The Australian Open is seem by millions, & the exposure is worth millions. Now, Maria, & her creations wont be seen again on the world stage until late May(French Open), Maria's least favorite surface(clay). Maria had just signed a 70 million dollar deal with Nike, before she went out & lost in the 1st round of the Australian Open, to a 58th ranked player.
