  • Mi piacerebbe suonare con te, hai una concezione ritmica molto interessante :)

  • Makes me think of Terry Riley in the 60´s

  • cool, it doubles as a Wok too, so it's worth even more money.

  • oke cool start. Would be funny to see the "2" be spread out over three drums and the "3" be spread out over four drums. Same rythm, but different sound-pattern.

    cycle of 12

  • there not all that expensive, if ou would go to the store in switserland or have them shiped from it the drum would cost around $1000 to $1,500 plus shipping if you ship it.

  • I want of these hey, they are hard to get though. well, for a good one anyway. MIght just go to amsterdam and trade a bag of weed to some hippie for one

  • ive seen them for less than that on ebay and, im pretty sure it would be alot easier and cheaper to actually go to Berne and have them make one for you. thats what i plan on doing

  • COOL! where u find that, wat culture does it belong to?

  • @maqnchs

these hang drums are made by 2 guys in switzerland...they are priced at 1500...go to oddmusic .com and check out the gallery....it's there with all the info

  • nooo i need one for less than 5000 lmao thats insane like..whoa man...whoa

  • Fuck Monotony.

  • Those quoting material costs are seriously missing the true value in the product. That is the talent of the person producing the drum. If you beleive it should be cheaper, buy the raw materials and produce a couple yourself. This is not a mass produced item, it is a work of art.

  • @sxty8goats

i want a cheap mass produced one along with another huge amount of people though!

    wordlwide speaking

  • you guys make a fricken hang drum and tell me how much you wanna let it go for.

  • i dont see how something like that being played like that can make that sound haha its awesome. wonderous is the world of music lol

  • gorilla,

Suggest you read all the comments concerning this and search the internet. It may not be as original as you think.

  • The whole idea of producing quality instrument cheaply is based on the idea that some of us who are not wealthy could also contribute to the art, and that artificial pricing not rooted in real costs of material, labor, and distribution etc...only serve to...well, should we just say redistribute financial wealth

  • Beautiful singing and playing, makes all lifes worries go away when i hear the Hang drum.

  • since when is price affected by its pure material cost? As far as i know the main motor of any price is availability vs request (not sure how exact english terminology is)

  • there is no reason why this instrument should cost so much materially speaking. It is a steel drum designed to be played by hand.

I like it! but way overpriced unless it maqde with some very special alloy or precious metals combo. We should be able to produce this either in the Americas.

  • you see i think its the opposite, i'd rather pay shitloads for an instrument that is done by only a very few people...

you see i hate the fact that since we are children, we have this notion of ''Money equals XXX amount of material''

Music demonstrates that one of the most valuable resource on this planet... virtually is... nothing...

On the contrary of a product wich is a direct result of Ours and other people's Exploitation.

    Materialism goes in both ways.

  • @poutioune

I think the reason we don't produce them is a thing called international copyright. The inventor, by virtue of inventing the product and copyrighting can name his price. If no one buys it, either he lowers the price, or makes the item unavailable. You don't get to just steal it from him, or even steal his idea.

  • all percussion things make me smile=] i like this! never heard of the insrument beofre=\

  • mutlunatic is way better on the hang

    ck it out !

  • how much does this wonderful insrument cost?

  • Mine cost me $4000, i had to have it shipped from switzerland in 06.

  • @Hawiar6 400$? Really? So you got it very cheap. Grats to that. The normal price is 1200 € (+- 100)

  • hang'n'voice keep it up, mate

  • I just LOVE the voice, reminds me a little of Tuvan throat singing. Your playing is just beautiful, I listen to it when I make my ancient pottery reproductions, it takes me back to days long past.

  • yeah ofcourse the dynamics and complicated notation of it have no importance. and you cant do these beats. i guarantee

  • the voice helped. 5 stars

  • Das geht echt gut ab ^^ Ich liebe Instrumente, mit denen man einfach so ne Session machen kann. Deinen "spirituellen" Gesang fand ich passend und gut! Mach weiter so, du hasts drauf!

  • hey if it just came over you maybe you was "channaling"!!!!

  • jub dann wars gay..hahah ist aber en hammer teil...

  • okay war solange geiL bis der angefangen hat zu singen xD

  • This was really good...then he sang and the whole world went into flames.

  • Singing ruined it

  • how much for one of these things? seems like the ultimate carry-around jam device. I can't find any online, not available in America yet?

  • A Swiss guy only makes them. That's the only place on earth that currently has them. PAN art is making one soon, though.

  • pan art has already designed and made their own version which many ppl say is better

  • PANart invented it, felix and sabina. Pantheon steel have just finished production on the halo, I suggest you all check it out, i'm already in line for mine =)

  • oh yeah man my bad. im just trying to think of the most american sounding name, which they both are lol. but yeah i want one so bad i just dont wanna deal with the hassle of designing and waiting in line and all that crap.

  • btw they run for about 5,000 starting. they are the single hardest instrument to obtain in the world.

  • sehr schön :)

  • I thought the over voicing was a nice touch -- if the soul calls it out man you gotta do it :)

can these instruments be made simply -- how expensive would it be?

also, how much for an original pair?

  • Doc Terry...what do you think?

  • dude! if you need to take a shit! go ahead!

  • hm, erinnert mich irgendwie an "rez" von UNDERWORLD. aber trotzdem ganz große klasse!!! mir hats gefallen

  • Hallo,

könnte mir einen Dudelsack gut dazu vorstellen.

    Gruß

  • eefach nua geil! rock on! (mag die vocals auch!) 5********

  • sweeeeet.lovin the hang drum even if i did 1st hear it 15mins ago.cant beleive i'v never heard 1 b4.

  • This is so simply amazing...

    thanks for sharing

  • what the fuck is that!?!?!?!?!?!

  • This instrument is call a " Hang", or Hang Drum.

  • i like even your over voicing

  • Reminds me a lot of the game SPORE :D

  • yea now that i think about it im pretty sure they used this instrument in that game

  • nice 2 on 3 =)

  • I like the simplicity of this tune...Sounds Great!!

  • hey, if you are a zero than you are a true hero ... not very funny maybe, but true ...

you definately have a huge talent, andi ...

    maa

  • i like the feeling of the entire 'song', including voices. i wish i had a Hang....uffff.....

    :)

    good feelings, ....yes :)

  • Punch in home made hang drum, a guy made one out of a propane tank and he gives a website on how he did it. Not the exact sound of course but still sounds pretty cool and maybe hold ya until you can get the real thing.

  • Just an additional note, google his last name Havlena for quickest link to his website.

  • John from Oddmusic has repeatedly said that Pantheon steel (I believe that's the company) is considering making them, which would drive up the supply and lower the price perhaps..

Check it out, if it's true spam the fuck out of em.

  • Pantheon is projecting to have their version, called a Halo, ready for production by start of '09.yle at Pantheon is a talented performer and steel drum tuner. I have every confidence his Halo will meet, if not exceed expectations.

  • they cost about 1000€, which now is about 1500$.

you have to visit the 2 guys in bern, capital of switzerland, personally to get one.

but you have to wait for your one costum made hang for about 2 years

  • ghahaha whats that nifty tune he starts to sing

  • i want one so bad... !!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful! Good job recording it too it's got a great sound

  • i wish so much í would have a hang drum!

  • This is one of my favorites of your, Andi, Thanx -very natural

  • Cool stuff... ( not too long he)

nice idea: take the 3 ritme (your right hand in this video) and take it over 4 places.

(so the "downbeat" constantly moves to a different spot"

this keeps the ritme the same, but the "melody" keeps moving...

nice vids you got... crazy stuff

  • Cool..nice vocals!

Everyone wants a Hang but they're expensive and difficult to obtain, so we want to share this..

Go to the Tribal Thunder web site and check out an 'Oscar' drum. You'll find pics & sound clips. The clips can't quite capture its richness and resonance , but they give you an idea. Everywhere we take them people love them! You may find, as others have, that an Oscar is a beautiful, affordable, obtainable instrument.

(offered in the spirit of the music community..Share the Music)

  • thanks for the info!!!

  • The shape of the hang drum is important in creating the correct vibration.

  • ok, someone tell me where the hell can you get one of these drums? ive looked everywhere, and i see none with a price or a place to order with. got to have one. any help will be appreciated. thanks

  • They're only made one place. A set amount are made. You have to be chosen to buy one. They are very expensive.

Go to Switzerland (or was it Sweden?), then to the fella's house, and ask very nicely.

  • It is Switzerland. There are two artists who make these drums. I had to do a lot of looking to find them, but if you follow these steps you can get more information. Google search "panart" and on the first site, there are two names at the top. Google one or both and you will find tons of info on them. Good Luck!!

  • Do you know about how much they run?

  • If you mean price I'm not sure...but from what I've heard they are very expensive :S

  • i heard between 2,000 and 4,000

  • I've heard as low as $1500.... but now that the demand has probably skyrocketed from You Tube.. I'm sure the price has gone up

  • Lmao...cool man. I don't care what other people say, the over-voicing was...nice, and funny to boot

  • thats pretty fuckin nifty

  • It's fairly obvious that in the world of hang players there is Andi Steil and then the rest of us. Love the sleeves!

  • Man, hang drums are so cool. The chanting sounds like it just sort of came, and that's cool as all hell, dude. Expressive lyrics on an expressive instrument.

  • this is awesome

  • least he's not a hippy.

  • lol sounded good, but the chanting/vocals was a serious comedy moment.

  • hahaha fuckin voice huh?:D:D yeaah

  • andi IS A COMEDIAN!!! quite a famous one toooo!

  • you sound the way i would imagine a gremlin sounds

  • dude, sorry on the late comment, but that cracked me up, im laphing and tryin to type, that was pretty good

  • I WAS GOOD TILL THE CHANTING

  • lol learn to sing and then remake this one, it would be awsome

  • watch more of andis vids....that man CAN sing REALLY WELL!!!

  • I WANT ONE!!!!!

  • Awesome .nice sound i love it

  • Sounds great! I'd love to hear it with the jacket sleeves pulled up though

  • Sleeves are a part of this music and make a nice background, like a rattle. There's a moment when he plays it without them.

  • ok...-.-

  • 2 over 3 and 3 over 2 are the same thing, depending only on your perspective of what is 2, what is 3. it is called a hemiola, superimposing one rhythmic pulse over another in which there is no common factor between the two (other than one of course). people that don't know any better call it a polyrhythm, but we can't blame them because they don't know any better.

  • I think he meant one had plays three while the other plays two...I liked the piece and the expressive fade out was nice. I'm not crazy about the vacuum cleaner sounds at the end though...

  • DON'T SMOKE CRACK

  • hey try 3 against 2 - the most basic poly-rythme there is

  • heavy vocals

  • I reckon these would sound good if someone used a second one simultaneously.. or even just put in a key change

  • dang thats a cool instrument and ur good :D

  • This was cool up until the guy made the weird noises at the very end.

  • I am totally impressed... What a great sound!

    Cactus Jack

  • ...actually thats 2 against 3. but whos counting lol

  • I thought so too... Great sounding Hang, man!

  • Good exercise!~
