22 watts. Not unless you plan on miking it. I used to have one. Sensational amp. Great for coffee houses, small clubs, jazz but not for outdoor concerts or anywhere 22 watts in insufficient. That said I always played whatever amp I wanted at outside gigs and miked the amp.
i'm getting a new amp for stuff like metallica, petrucci and some stoner. would you reccomend this one? (about the stoner part; i can probably fix stoner with a big muff or something)
and what did you do at 0:35? switching channels? is it impossible to go from hi-gain to clean with the channel switch with this amp?
"is it impossible to go from hi-gain to clean with the channel switch with this amp?"
i meant that: if you dial in the perfect metal tone (like the one you have in this video; will the clean-channel still remain clean, or will it be crunch-like?
I would recommend this amp for stuff like metallica and such, it does a great job at that, especially thru a closed-back cabinet.
At 0:35 I shut off the boss ge-7 graphic eq i had in loop.
Well, i was pretty satisfied how it goes from dirty to clean, but if you set the gain high for the lead channel, the clean will crunch a bit. But there is one simple mod which adds a separate control for gain for lead channel which solves this problem
Bought one of these way back when they first came out. Traded up for a simul class blue stripped Mark III. Love the Mark III, but I wish I still had the studio .22
question, i have a .22+ but i can't find the difference from the .22. i also have a potentiometer mounted through the grill that protects the tubes in the rear panel, when turned clockwise it increases gain on lead channel but doesn't affect the rythm. just wondering if yours has one too or is mine an afermarket mod.
.22+ has a "lead master", separate volume control for the lead channel which the .22 doesn't have.
that is some sort of an aftermarket mod, but sounds like a REALLY useful one, a lot of people are complaining that when you set the gain appropiate for some metal, you don't have a clean channel. But that can be sorted by putting a lower gain tube in the V1 or V2.
that's some heavy tone through the .22. i bought this amp today cause it was a very bluesy amp, i'll have to tweak it with an eq to try out that tone you got.
Cool tone. I have the same amp. Does yours have the graphic equalizer? I think it does pretty much everything really well, with the exception of a slightly saturated overdrive.
gain:4, treb:8, mids:6, bass:5, pres:4. And yes, your eyes are correct, mine doesn't have the onboard eq, instead I use a Boss GE-7 (V-shape) in the fx-loop, you can hear when i turn it off for a sec at 00:35

for those wanting to compare the studio 22 to something that mesa puts out now... it's basically a low watt Mark Series amp... very kick ass!

i'm not familiar with the studio .22..does the boss EQ you turned on help achieve that V shape graphic eq?
Great playing.

Do you have a boost pedal in the rig ? Coz I did'nt think that the 22+ could go that high in gain ! Whats the guitar ?
danielwesbo 3 years ago
No boost, straight up! :) Sure it can go hi-gain, plenty of gain for playing metal. Guitar is a Gibson LP Studio with stock pickups.

Great sound. I have the same amp and I can't seem to get that kind of sound out of it. what are your settings on the eq pedal?
acdc93ty 4 years ago
I use a V shape on the pedal, with the 800 hz being the lowest, boost the lows a bit, leave the highs where they are..
mrmot83 4 years ago
Nice sound! I love my 22+....ballsy little mofo aint it?!

No, mine doesn't have the onboard graphic. I can get pretty good overdrive on the rhythm channel with the gain high..

hello! great sound, dude!
what are ya settings?
Well, I don't trust my eyes: have this one the 5band EQ- can't see it right?!
