There are hundreds of these conversions out there do some looking around and then you can pull your head out of your ass. And FYI a 331 is nothing more than a 302 (aka 5.0) with a 3.25" stroke and an .030 overbore.

I put a Ford 302 stroked to a 331 with AFR 185 heads, and all the other goodies. Its makes 407hp @ 6300 rpm and 434 ft lbs @ 3700 rpm. In a 2278lb car, thats fuckin flying man! Check em out.

Stock miata 1/4 mile times are nearly 17 seconds, 1998 GT is about 14.3ish depending on the driver. WEIGHT doesn't play THAT big of a difference between the two cars. I can tell you from experience however all it takes is 160rwhp from the miata to beat a stock 1998 GT Mustang.

My miata has just under 345whp and I am even with H/C/I vettes. Mustang GT is an even match for a 180hp miata maybe. That miata looks like it had tuning problems. Probably super rich judging from the puffs out the exhaust.

my miata v8 gets about 33 - 34 mpg on the highway and over 20 in the city. Big engines move little cars really easy.
