I only lived 5 years of my life in the 90's, and I didn't know what pearl jam was at that age, but I always get a rush of nostalgia when I hear eddie's voice. my memories of that time just seemed so much cooler.. lots of my neighbors n family n stuff actually listened to some good ol pure rock n roll, and I hardly ever heard much rap. the hell happened? :/
@HylianDakota as a child of the 90's, i can completley understand. i'll tell you what happened. The youth of America traded raw talent, beauty, and meaning for mediocrity and banality. It's a fucking disgrace.
Vitalogy is easily in my top 10 albums of all time. I think I bought this album when I was like 14 and was blown away! Pearl Jam is a group I never outgrew. Vitalogy was the last album I bought by them until Rearviewmirror came out but I loved the first few albums!
I am more of an 80s guy, Michael Jackson, GnR, Megadeth, Metallica, Prince, The Smiths, Roxy Music, Public Enemy.. but the 90s did have the last epic bands. Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, and some few like Tu Pac, Dido, and MnM, .. music.. wow have you fallen.
I still feel something up on my skin when i listen to this song. And it's been like this since i listened to it when i was 17 and i came out. Great album, prolly the best for PJ.
vitalogy is just really dirty dirty dirty dirty dirty grunge made to perfection. did i mention very very very very dirty? if not it's very dirty grunge. good shit!
Get the damn lyrics right. It's "Cannot stop the thought. I'm running in the DARK." Try looking on their site.

The meaning of this song just hit me when I almost reached my 40. It's so fucking deep. Not only about Kurt, about all us.

I love the fact that everybody bought Vitalogy when it came out and it totally weeded out the posers. One of their best records.
