  • English is spoken with a very lazy tongue. You are doing a great job, but if you want to improve, you must loosen your mouth.

  • HOT

  • try practicing the word practice because u got really down pack

  • try practicing the word practice because u got really down pack

  • PEOPLE..HELP ME.........TELL ME HOW MY ENGLISH IS .....U CAN LISTEN MY VOICE IN MY NEW VIDEO

  • Yes, really.

  • Try saying reel, like a movie reel. Then add the -ee sound. "rail-ee" makes you sound kind of Southern. (in the US)

  • i think you're pronouncing really correctly?? in the beginning at least! maybe i'm just used to asian accents orz. i definitely do not pronounce really as rail-ee... wtf. they gave you some flawed advice. and yeah squirrel is a hard word to pronounce.

  • woww!! you got "really" on point at 2:15!! you so got it down pat1

  • and try to say "unnecessarily"

  • 2:37 "... ... huh?" lol (pawnface)

  • Hmmmm...It's more like "りょ-lee", or "Ryo-lee". But with the American "R", of course. Good job nonetheless!

  • i wonder how japanese people roll their Rs when speaking spanish.

  • The first "really" at 0:41 sounded really good, I thought. Your english in general is good. I'm actually glad I grew up speaking english, because if I hadn't I don't think I could learn it!

  • "someone gave me adbice"

  • How about rare-lee Try it with a lower pitch at the start. Then mispronounce the re part, kind of like the difference from pronouncing desu instead of how most people say something closer to des and possibly say the u under their breath. This is a good video for me trying to learn Japanese pronunciation, so thanks. Ganbatte! One quick question; what would you say is the easiest way to learn onyomi and kunyomi for kanji?

  • Our Japanese will suck too xD

  • your 'squirrel' actually wasn't that bad. A lot of people tend to say it more like 'squirl' when they start talking faster or aren't really thinking about it (Or at least I do... I guess you could say that pronunciation is like 'lazy' english)

  • you can talk...3 verb ring rang run...ring rang run.....may be your result is...ling lang lun...^^..

but your "R" is not bad.

  • ree-lee

  • Americans pronounce "really" as such "re-lee"

  • Rail- lee sounds more like the way English people say it. Reel-ee sounds more like the American sound. both are good is my guess just remember there are so many different idioms.

  • @koinend Funny, I'm English and I've never heard another person prounounce it "rail-lee". Same as in America, it's Reel-ee as far as I'm aware.

  • Ok, This will help you alot.

87% Of Japanese People Saying the Letter "L" as "R"

So when you say "R" (Try a couple times) You put your tongue Like more Putting it inside.

Theres kind of 2 different sound of "R". Theres Hard "R" and theres Soft "R"

The Soft R is like a air and the hard R is like Bumpy(closed Tongue)

I will make a respones video to help you :)

  • heehee...it sounded australian for a minute c:

  • try saying this "pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcaniconiosis"

  • @tigran914 XD hahaha my sisters been saying tht word since 2nd grade and it gets annoying but i had to thumb tht up

  • you're doing it!

you are an example for the other japanese people that are fkin-up english on purpose

  • This guy is awesome!!

  • rearee

  • i think the one who gave u the advice on 'rail-ee' is a british..not american...americans pronounce it like real-lee

  • Very good job! I can imagine it being extremely hard to read/speak English with Japanese as your first language. Americans pronounce "really" more like "rilly."

  • First Say Seal Then say Real After that say Seally Then say Really ORR just say Real a bunch of times then when you say it right add the lee in the end to say Really

  • look man i am a american an i have seen many ppl/poeple that try to speek enlish an suck at it your doing great but the best way to get reaily is to find some 1 that is from the USA LIKE ME a just have a good long talk with him that all your doing gread

  • I think the only thing some Japanese people get abit in a muddle with is when there is too many 'B's in a row. :)

    But you speak good.

Don't come to England you will lose you accent too quickly which is bad as the Japanese accent is cool.

It makes you sound like a Ninja. :D

  • @GREATBRITISHGAMER Ironic how you say "you speak good" but saying "you speak good" is incorrect...

  • @DeadlikeaPixel Well, I said Speak good not type good.

  • @GREATBRITISHGAMER So? Doesn't make a difference.

  • @DeadlikeaPixel Shup.

  • @GREATBRITISHGAMER See, you spelled something wrong again. XD You're making it too easy for me.

  • @DeadlikeaPixel I was supposed to write 'shup'. It's short for "Shutup"

  • @GREATBRITISHGAMER Yes, I know. -__-

  • @DeadlikeaPixel have your cake and eat it -_-

  • @GREATBRITISHGAMER Lololol

  • I still cannot understand what u said. I am a hong kong kid

  • Here's some advice! For the word "really" you can break it down into rr-ill-ee Then for "squirrel" you can do ss-qu-er-all. Hop the helps!

  • I think the "L" is difficult as it is mispronounced like "R" so REALLY must be very very difficult with the "L" and "R" so the difficulty must be the tongue placement with an L sound you are placing your tongue the same as the R and in American english it is not placed the same to make the sound. LIKE starts with the tip of your tongue just behind your two front teeth. The R sound is made by placing your tongue...this is twicky...the SIDES of your tongue are against the inside upper teeth.

  • lol... nice one.

  • I can't pronounce like an American because I learn British English, so it's like Reel-l-i .

  • I knooooow! "really" is hard shit! リアリー

  • You are really good =O keep up the cool job ;)

  • I don't know... 'リエルリ' or 'リエリ'? Lol, I dunno! XD

  • I can pronounce words "like an American" just fine. But only because I grew up here and I know all the silly slang. ALSO.

Does it seem like Runny has a baby face? Isn't he cute?

  • Try saying: "Peter Piper picked a patch of pickled peppers" five times fast!!!

  • Eminem's lyrics would smoke you out.

  • Dude say LILLY, it has same ending sound as REALLY just pronounce the first R

  • To be honest, his accent is not bad as japanese.

  • I think you should make a video to prove you can do my tongue twister! No excuses either you have had 3 months to practice ;)

  • don't worry how it sounds when you say it or any other word. even people in america say words slightly different from each other. for example some people say the word "button" differently. I don't put stress the TTs when i say it but some people do. but your english is great! :)

  • You're understandable. "Really" isn't bad--I think you've got the hang of it, actually. That's a nice word to work on, come to think of it--actually. Singing in English might be beneficial to you, too. There's something called the International Phonetic Alphabet that you can look up for most things, if you really want to know how it's pronounced. It's not the easiest thing to learn on your own, but you can find clips online or websites for acting and vocal students.

  • You said it best the first time. Say "reel" then say "lee".

  • reel-lee

  • re a lly

  • say real then ee reallee or really

  • People from England will pronounce it more like "railee"

People from North America will pronounce it more like "reelee"

    ..because their accents are different.

I live in north america and say reelee

  • Haha and I am trying to learn Japanese, this will be fun....

  • When saying Squirrel, try dividing it into syllables (Squi-rrel). When pronouncing "Squi" think of the word "Squid" (Skwihd. Skwihd. Skwihd.) Now drop the d and say "Skwih". When pronouncing "rrel", try to ignore the vowel sound "e". In the word "squirrel", the vowel sound made by "e" is very faint and is almost absent. (This can be compared to the the vowel sound う at the end of some Japanese words. A simple example: です [desu]). Try saying it this way: "skwih-rll"

    よくできました. がんばってね! ^^

  • Oh my god, you are so cute.

    めっちゃかわいいよ。

  • im guess if u try to say squirrel say scu- earl fast but try slow first

  • Try Reel----- then after that say ee.

  • Maybe it's Ree-lee. I LOVE you Runny! So cute, adorable and handsome. :D :D. I LOVE your videos.

  • Squirrelってまさにラスボスの感じですね。

  • Rail-ee is not right Rail sounds very different than Real.

Good enough to get by though..

Good effort mate, keep on practicing.

  • Your english is amazing. But can you try saying this "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious". Not trying to confuse you though. =P

  • English is the international language.

People all over the world speak English with their own pronunciations and accents.

So you may speak English freely.

    -

    英語は国際語です。

    世界中の人々が自分たちの発音やアクセントで英語を話しています。

    だから あなたも自由に話していいのです。

  • im german so ..um..really..i can't speak english better than you xD

ah..it seems that you don't know what 'dunno' means....it means i don't know xDD uhm....can you try to say: ladybird ? (i can't spak it out (TT__TT)....) may luck ;D l.g.

  • After the advice it sounded like you were using an Aussie accent more than a Brithish one LOL XD !

Anyway I didn't see the first video; but I have to say good job on this though:D You almost nailed the 'Really'! And you're su-su-su-ke-ril was pretty cute too<3 /poofs to watch your other videos.

  • lol... you're doing quite well!! Try working on relaxing your mouth and tongue, and making a noise, with tongue relaxed. It should sound like "uhhhhh". Then, bring the very tip of your tongue up to touch and rest against the back of your front upper teeth.. Now the sound will be "uhhh-llllll". That 'tip of tongue on upper front teeth IS your "L" sound. Practice that. Then try 'squirrel'. Very slow... reeeelaaaxxxx your mouth. The last half of the word "squirrel" is the sound you just made!

    :D

  • Your accent is so cute! Your'e almost there with the "really"! Go Japanese people!

  • I like lice.

  • You are on a good way to pronounce Squirrel as an SKRILLEX! :D

  • Your english is quite good and your accent is perfectly understandable. No need to worry, unless in case youre trying to get the exact american accent for acting. Cheers from Brazil!

  • Try

    "Rill - ee"

It is easier for your mouth to go from "ill" to "ee" than "eel" to "ee."

    And try

    Squerl

Just think: one syllable. It is just "Earl" with "squ-" in front of it.

  • Im sorry, but maybe this would help: for really, rhheee-L-hi. so it's almost pronounce り-L (hard L, if you can)- ひ. rrHee-L-i? As for squirrel: sekuh-WuhR-reL. ^_^

  • I know this video is old, but here is my advise if you are still looking. (I am from America so this is an American pronunciation.)

Looks to me like you have the first part of the word down pretty well. The trouble comes when you reach the two L's at the end. They are rolled a little too much. It needs to be a dry flat sound. When you make the L sounds use the tip of your tongue on the back of your front teeth. (With gentle pressure so that it is only the tip touching your teeth.)

    Helpful?

  • rail-lee makes it sound like a country accent. Your first "really" was actually perfect. Someone told me that "R" and "L" are kind of combined in japanese, so maybe that's why they give people so much trouble. Maybe you could practice by singing "Deck the Halls" :P

  • SCORE ;)

  • you know the truth is that although there is a *correct* way of speaking english (known as queen's english) there are soooooo many variations from region to region, and continent to continent, that its really impossible to pick one;

I can understand you completely and whether you say 'ree-lee' 'real-lee' 'rail-lee' or as i say 'ril-lee' people will know exactly what you mean...

and quite frankly i applaud you for your level of mastery of the english language, god knows its messy/difficult!

  • Comment removed

  • ree-lee. and he said it right the first time.

  • whomever told you to pronounce it raill-ee, is really wrong

  • @dacasman 'Whomever' is objective; the correct word would be 'whoever', since it would be the subject of the verb 'told'.

  • I love the way Japanese people say "usually". :)

  • hahahah soooo cuuteeeee XD

  • pratice this.............pratice pronouncing the letter R and L....

pronounce R as aaarrrrrrr and not awllllll...u got me right?

pronounce L as elllll and not ewllll.........

next is words with R as the second letter

    for example:

    tRade, dRagon, tRibe, bRide, brick

practice not to pronounce it as doRagon/duRagon, tuRade/toRade, toRibe, or boRick....

ok?? i wish this could help you...

dragon ball Z not doragon boru zetto/zettara ^_^

  • i am half nipon, half filipina, and i can speak better english since we moved here

  • you're not full japanese right? your color tells it.....what is your other heritage?

  • really haha

  • You said "really" correctly, yayyy =]

  • Try watching speech therapy videos. They go through tongue placement and how to shape your mouth to make certain sounds. Languages are so much fun to learn. Try Gaelic- now that's a challenge, lol.

  • ur english is good

  • I like your videos! I think a really hard word to say for my Japanese mates is ''rural.'' Give it a go g_g

  • ネットで英語の発音調べてたら、いきなりこの動画が出てきて面白いw

  • try saying, "Libby the lion loves lying down in the luminous hot sun".

  • @ireaallylikethisname Lmfao! Hahaha English was not my first language but I can say that this is a pretty good exercise. It's like saying Seashells by the seashore or something like that lol >.< But I have no problem saying Libby the lion loves lying down in the luminous hot sun :3 I've done speeches that are long :3 without mumbling or going off and back and forth throughout the sentences lol =P

  • @ireaallylikethisname HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

  • 1:25 Anyone who uses slang words while advising you about their language probably doesn't know what they're talking about.

  • Haha, you're actually pretty good. I don't know if rail-ee is actually how I say really though (it makes me sound like I have a British accent, almost). I say it like rear-lee. And I say Squirrel, like 'squi' (in 'SQUId') and 'rule' or 'rill'. Nice work. (:

  • You sound great - better than most people who try to speak the english language. You speak better english than some less well educated people in England! Keep it up and thanks for making the video - I was researching what problems Japanese people had with the english language and your video was just what I was looking for.

I would love to learn some Japanese and visit Japan some day :)

  • this is hilarious

  • Your English is quite good. To be honest, you have very little accents.

  • Comment removed

  • oh wow, my name starts with an L, i wonder how a japanese will pronounce it xD

  • Treu cuz japanese have abotu 400 or 800 Sounds of speach and englosu 2400 or 1400+

  • not Rail... its RYLEE... the Y like the I in chicken

  • Get in a attempt to pronounce the word REAL. Once you got it up, try attaching both Real more to adjective LY. Now, follow this forwading way: REAL right after LY...keep it practical as to hereafter you get it speaking more quicker!

  • Oh, and I'm an American, and even I hate the word "squirrel". It's an evil word that messed up native speakers as well.

  • Why not try saying Ree-Uh-Lee? Over time, keep saying it quicker and you'll have it.

  • i give up on my ''really'.. time for squirrel

  • Lee-Lee is the closest you get XD

  • AAHAHAHA. The person who told to you pronounce 'really' like ' rail-ee' was probably from Manchester so only pronounce it like that if you want Mancunian twist on your accent.

  • Hey, i am not a logopedist, but i found advice:

When saying "L" try saying "R", but with one difference:

While doing that try to touch your teeth exactly with the tip of your tongue.

Possibly touch front of your teeth. (yes, you can say "L" with mouth open).

If you succeed, you can try to move backwords, touching not front, but back of your teeth.

If you succeed, than try to go even deeper inside (it will be more comfortable and safe not to bite your tongue).

    Use Tip of your tongue!!!

  • "squi-rrel" try "squeeze" without "ze".

Rest is more difficult for you. I have heared that r and l are the same letter in Japanese.

Good solution is google translator which plays sounds of words and of full sentences.

Spend some time on differenciaing "R" and "L" and you will become master.

Here is a tongue twister, hard even for english speakers. Repeat it as fast as you can in row:

"Red lorry, yellow lorry, red lorry, yellow lorry....."

I sometimes end saying "lolly" like lollypop.

  • runnyrunny999 you sound so cute pronouncing the word "really". you did an awesome job!! ^^^i'm learning japanese and i can't wait to be fleunt in it.

  • あなたは非常によく学んでいます。私はアメリカ人と誰か言葉を言うことを見る場合、それを言うしようと非常に多くを助けることを学んだ。(私の第 4 回学習 im)

  • You could also try saying LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

and then try to say other words with an L in it again.

    you're doing okay!

  • lol yesh learnin new languages is a betch

  • The correct way is リーリ.

  • The Japanese have the cutest accents.

  • you need to get your tongue used to making the L sound. try saying..... LA, LEY, LEE, LOW, LOU. I hope this helps!!!!

  • this is so amazing and cute. and you sound awesome.

  • try to read and write english.... an extra challenge.

  • when you are saying really make sure you make your 'E' stand out and when you do a L touch the top of your mouth iwth your tounge

  • its more like レーリー

  • Try "Umbrella" ^^

  • i took a course when i was little called hooked on phonics. Break it down into pieces R - EEL - EE do the R sound of english with the animal EEl and say the the E in english. R- ea- ll- y

  • You were saying squirrel correctly.

  • try "reach" ...then say rea-lee lol

  • when you went to say rail - ee, to me it sounded like you were saying rarely... why not just say real - e instead

  • あなたはどの位長い間開業していますか

  • Ree-Lee would be more correct i think

  • well he pronounced correctly correctly lol.

  • It's good but needs practice when saying really. Say "re" then say the "a" in a drop fade but make sure not to over exadurate it "lee" and hole the "e". Make sure to relax the tounge. Tell me if this helps.:)

  • say ree-lee, rail e

     sounds wrong.

    r-air-lee

  • Dude, Really...? Really...?........Really?

  • Watching your video I could understand you perfectly. You don't need practice.

  • or say this slowly: 李リー ? REE LEE ?

  • 李-Lee ?? I think this is a close sound in the Japanese language, but I don't speak Japanese so I'm not sure.

Ree-Lee is a really close pronounciation.

Squirel is pretty hard to teach... try: skah wer el ??

  • "ˌriəˈlaɪ" is the IPA for "really".

What you're saying in IPA is "reɪli". English speakers can understand you, but as you can see, it's not the same.

  • real-ee try to say "real" than add the "ee" to it hope it helps

  • @TheBlackbutlerLover the japanese language doesn't have L

i would try to sai Ree-or-ee although, in the american language you pronounce the letter 'l' by putting the tip of your tongue behind your two front teeth ^^

  • reeli <<<< say it like that :P

  • Try Saying square (shape) and add el or il ...so square-el

  • Really - /ˈrē(ə)lē/ or you can say リエーリー Riērī ^_^ がんばって

  • Rally Connors

    /watch?v=JqnOhRaXYEc

  • its like real-i

  • 1:45 that was IT!

  • Yes the second video is meant to talk about ur first video

  • make sure that when you say L you put the tip (top) of your tounge on the roof of your mouth right behind your teeth.

  • Try REEL - EE. That might be easier :) That's the American way...REEL - EE :)

  • LOL one of the best videos on youtube haha

  • really is ok. squirrel maybe just practice a little more. i have a japanesse friend and i teach her some english words too. hey buddy can you try saying "cinnamon roll"? good job man!
