I really felt the moment

My mother used to beat me when I was a child, mostly cause I failed in a subject. There was also a time when I couldn't quite spell the words right(like spelling Crab as Krab) then she'd start yelling and hitting me and lock me out till I get it right. Afterwards though she'd start crying and hug me. I knew she meant well and I always forgave her and asked for her forgiveness too. Now we're both so close you would believe she use to hit me as a kid.

As a Korean who has suffered through this sort of corporal punishment even growing up in the US, this made me start crying. All of my childhood I wanted for my parents to give me any attention because they were always working. The boy reminds me of how hard I tried to even get my parents to understand why I did what I did to get their attention, even if I was disobeying them so at least they'd notice. It literally is pretty much like that.

this movie is a satire of how parents in south east asia are teaching their children through violence, only watered down. let's say all of these happen and he used it to "buy" the parents time, the parents wouldn't comfort him like here in america, they will just punish him for crying. i had been in those times, and experienced it.
