As the Founding Fathers knew well, a government that does not trust its honest, law-abiding, taxpaying citizens with the means of self-defense is not itself worthy of trust. Laws disarming honest citizens proclaim that the government is the master, not the servant, of the people. ~ Jeff Snyder
This is all fine and dandy as long as people understand there is no 'sporting purpose' to the Second Amendment per the BATF Nazis interpretation nor GCA '68 and the NFA, both of which need to be repealed.
The Second Amendment isn't about hunting four legged critters or birds. It's about hunting men.

Actually, the AR was designed as a sporting rifle to begin with. The military liked the design, so they adopted it, slapped on a selective-fire capability, and voila, you have the M16. So the AR platform came to be known as a rifle with origins in the military, rather than origins in the sporting community (which are its real origins).
I plan on buying a Russian made AK 74 for my first rifle, but I have nothing against the AR 15. It may be more sensitive to dirt and weather than an AK, but it's still a good platform.
here, in our country, the lazy hunters drive everywhere with their cars.. you never see them not driving a car.. and they hate every modern gun.. this video rocks and should be showed to them
Never. Developed for Russian army. Not a sporting rifle. More of a collector, common name, easy to find and cheap ammo. The 7.62X39 is an inferior round. Offers great stopping power at close range, but doesn't offer accuracy or long range capabilities.
The .223 Remington was in bolt guns before the AR was developed. The 5.56 NATO round is a .223 with thicker case walls to support higher pressures. It took almost 40 years to the AR to gain popularity in the sporting community. The AK has been around longer, and it doesn't look like it's going to be on the sporting arms list any time soon.
@390galaxie That's because the 7.62x39 was designed to be used at distances under 300 meters. It's hardly an inferior round when used for it's intended purpose. It's not a long distance target round, and it was never intended to be.
@Yattutroll the problem is the AK isnt an American rifle, it is a soviet rifle and your average white republican hunter absolutely hates them damn commies
The nice thing about ARs are you can easily customize them. I'm sure there are wooden stocks out there, or one could easily be manufactured for one if you have wood working skills.
The question we should be asking is: why is "assault rifles" considered "bad guns" instead of being the people's "liberty teeth". As benjamin franklin put it. !!!!
Good video and good parting message. A gun is a gun, not a beserk killing machine. I'd love to take an AR out shooting. I'm equally as careful with every rifle I handle, so what's the difference in looks have to do with it?
i wish the canadian government would watch this

Actually, the 03 is a Mauser design. The Mauser probably killed more people in the 20th century than any other weapon.

very good video , I look forward to sharing it with some anti AR types

So when are we going to get a video like this on the AK-pattern rifles?

7.62x39 is basically .30-30 with a pointy tip.
And the AR was developed for the military as well and we've made sporting rifles out of those.
Of course, you can get AKs in .308 Winchester and .223 as well as 7.62x39, so there's always that.

@390galaxie The AK has gained popularity as a sporting gun, just not so much in the usa. just look at the saiga an vepr rifles

Good video! To bad, the anti's will just brush this off by posting more irrelevant statistics about how many deaths caused by guns.

@vtec44sbn its not for them though. its for people that are still on the fence in the gun debate. and i definitely think it will help there

The original AR prototype, as build by Eugene Stoner (because his wife complained that most sporting rifles are too heavy) still had a wooden stock.
Gimme one with a wooden stock.

dewbie42 2 years ago
Yeah, I know.. But I meant the full wooden stock rifle (with the same AR gas operation mechanism) stoner built first.
I have drawings of it right here, too bad I dont have a scanner.
YaoiMastah 2 years ago
I've seen pictures of wooden-stocked ARs.
Yattutroll 2 years ago
@Yattutroll Yeah. When some of the handmade wood stocks gained attention, a few companies, including RRA, produced their own.

Couldn't agree more, it's not something we should have to justify. Like it or not, gun ownership is deeply embedded into our Nation's history.
MaddDawg42 2 years ago 15
Yes Sir !! this country was liberated with the assault rifles of its day.
Sadly the NRA does not give a shit about the 2nd amendment. only the money.
