Everyone should give this woman a chance; recall how sexist the Church forbidding women to be priests. Even the Galilean Master, when he travelled to India, Tibet and the Far East during his 18 'lost years,' he advised all those who eagerly thronged around him wherever he went, "Honor thy mothers, wives, and sisters, for they ARE the source of all Life." Jesus was an equal op employer...why can't we Americans do likewise? Women have been suppressed way too long...you GO Sarah girl!
I can't believe this "chairwoman of the oil-gas commission" could be a heartbeat away from the presidency (which is a good chance with McLame). Just another reason to vote Obama.

tegalans: IMO the Rep party needs to move to the Center iot be viable in the future. Look at the projected demographic trends. By 2050, the Hispanic population will explode, and white males will significantly decrease as a % of the electorate.

I don't see the big deal about a typo. If you are trying to infer that I need more education for a simple mistake, then you are surly wrong. Financial news...Yes. Do you understand what is the cause of the current economic trouble? It has to do with Government interference in the market. The Community Reinvestment Act of 1977 and Clinton's revision of the act forced lenders to give loans to high-risk borrowers in the name of equality.
I have promised myself NOT to respond to these things but you are at least civil and don't call me filthy names as your other co-rightists are wont to do. It is not logical that a law passed 31 years ago would suddenly affect us now. It really isn't. It's a fantasy, I'm sorry. The economy is failing because the federal government which INSURES all that money by the way, did not provide any oversight at all and the smarty pants on Wall Street developed unsound schemes to get RICK quick.
While that law was under Carter; Clinton revised it substantially. I believe oversight is the problem. The Federal Reserve is the reason why our dollar is in the tank. Many people believe that the Great Depression was a result of no oversight, but it was the complete opposite. After Woodrow Wilson enacted the Federal Reserve he later apologized by saying he gave up Americas freedom. America is not a true capitalistic country. Government is the problem; why would we want more interference then.
I really disagree with you. You are concerned about values. Do you realize that corporations are essentially amoral - that their only allegiance is to the bottom line? They are in a sense the asocial part of society. Capitalism without oversight is like a room full of toddlers with opened gallons of red paint in a white room with no teacher. It's stupid. In the end, the tax payer bails them out as it is doing right now with Fannie and Freddie.
Fannie, Freddie, and Indie were created by acts of congress. They are government entities. I do not believe that we the taxpayers should bail them out. While the government did forced them to do business with high-risk borrowers, they still failed by their own stupidity. The only government interference should be anti-trust laws and safety. Who gave the children the paint? I believe that it was the Government.
Fannie and Freddie were privatized. They are no longer government entities. Nor are they Paris Hilton's yorkies. We had to bail them out because the failure of F&F would have signaled to the rest of the world that the US is unsafe for investment. So, if you think the dollar is low now - think about the peso. Hence, they had to be helped - NOT because they deserved it but to prevent 1929 redux. Now a little oversight could have eliminated the bail-out.
While you are right about the current path of action in order to fix the Governments mistakes. They created the companies, forced them to do unreasonable business, and is now keeping them afloat. I believe that we should allow these companies to fail so we can be allowed to return to a market unaffected by Government stupidity. If we continue down this path with more government than the future is a lot more bleak. I would rather take a short depression than decades of recession.
How do you know the depression would be short? As I see it, we have produced an inordinate number of MBAs in this country. Out they go into the financial world, highly competitive and say to themselves - 'How do I make money?' Then they come up with the ponzi scheme mortgage thing and sell the mortgages as AAA securities to the rest of the financial world - China, Germany, Britain and without responsibility retire to the Cayman Islands.
The biggest thing that separates the left from the right(the real right not the Republicans)is the belief on wither the Government is the answer to our problems. Currently only the Government can stop the decline of the dollar but they created the Federal Reserve. You see that markets failed by no oversight, I see the Government meddling in those markets to begin with. There are two directions to every path. Government is the answer if we continue the way we are currently heading.
If you want the money, invade the Cayman Islands, round up the guys on the beach drinking some fancy drink with an umbrella and take the money back. When the international community lost BILLIONS, they lost confidence in the American economy and the dollar fell.
Basically you're saying that the Financial sector is doing what Enron did. I do believe that there are some people who are willing to destroy their companies to make a quick buck, I do not believe that is the case here. If we do have something similar to a depression or even a recession, it will not be short because of governmental interference. The Government will enact a New Deal style Policy and drag the economy through the mud. It would fix itself faster without government interference.
I'm not convinced. How about that humungous deficit? Bracing. I do think some corporations are ethical but the mortgage scheme was anything but. As these variable rate mortgages 'mature' to variability after 5 years, we are losing billion on the mortgages contracted in 2003. So what about the ones purchased in 2004? They will become variable in 2009 and so on. So the govt trying to renegotiate those mortgages is important. It should prevent the loss of many billions more next year.
The Federal Reserve and the government are responsible for deflating the value of the dollar. In order to stop a recession the government must spend more than it taxes. That means it has to print more money and that causes inflation. Everything that the Government does is a quick fix, that creating another bubble. It would be a lot easier to lick our wounds now than in the future. The Federal Reserve will eventually reach interest rates of 0%. If the Fed can not lower rates what then?
I agree that printing money is stupid. But then look at the President and his band of thieves. There have to be safe-guards in place to prevent such practices or we will be in post World War I Germany with wheelbarrels of money to buy bread. Basically, I'm tired of being a victim of greed - whether corporate or govt.
I agree with you on that, the government has grown 60% in the last 8 years. I believe that if we continue to bail out companies that will add to the deficit, some people believe that it may reach 1 trillion dollars. The government can not take on this debt and survive. Those safe guards in place were not needed until after the Fed was created. Watch this video v=OS2fI2p9iVs and you'll understand what I'm saying about the need for less government.
I believe that we can all agree that the Soviet Union was a failed nation and idea. Khrushchev said, "We cannot expect the Americans to jump from capitalism to
Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving Americans small doses of socialism, until they
suddenly awake to find they have Communism." Welcome to America. I for one do not want to live here in 2050 if we continue down this path.
tegalans: I'm sympathetic. But, I don't know where else to go. Certainly not socialistic Europe. They've got immigration problems almost as bad as ours, and their demographic trends/projections are even worse.
Maybe we could move to Canada. lol. They've got a ton of room up there and hardly any people.
I don't intend to abandon my country. America is not yet a lost cause. Organize a political movement like no one has seen before. Have you ever heard of the silent majority? As I said before if we can educate people; perhaps we can wake America up. It's hard when our choices for Presidents are Liberal and semi-Liberal.
MC has little chance of winning the election and IMO must gamble on his VP choice. He MUST pick a female as this is the only demographic he might possibly impact w/his VP choice. Plenty of angry Hillary supporters and lots of swing voting women that might be moved by the first-ever female as VP.
Romney is the safest choice; piles of money, fully vetted, the base likes him, and puts Michigan in play.
I wasn't aware of ROmney's pull in Michigan, if that's the case then he's a lock.
BTW, women have been waiting a longtime to vote for a femakle president. They know that if Obama wins they gotta wait 8 years for the chance, if McCain wins, it's only 4.
Thank you, I appreciate it. I know that Fiorina is & will remain a major part of the campaign, but I just couldn't see a non-politician getting the tap. CRK
Thanks for watching and coommenting. However I never state that Jindal is more popular than Romney; I just don't. I state that Jindasl is popular, which he is.
You appear to admire Romney, cool. We can agree that he is the frontrunner for the nomination.
You believe that John McCain is interested in Romney because he (Romney) is "Reaganesque." You're right, I don't yet see that; but then again, I never saw it before Reagan and so no surprise that I havene't seen it since. CRK
And I undertsand how you see the emphises I put on Cash as as a shallow description. But really, I'm just being honest about the mechanics of all politics, not just Republican, MCCain or Romney politics. CRK
Well I should tell you that Romney is investing some pretty serious cash into his quest to be VP. Be proud of your religion and those who represent it well. CRK
"investing some pretty serious cash into his quest to be VP."
are you sure he isn't priming the pump for another Presidential bid. He appears to be doing what McCain and Reagon did. He is going around helping the Republican party and all their candidates get money.
Crist is pound-4-pound the best choice. But, Romney is throwing around tons of cash. His cash, not just what he raised. No disrespect to Gov. Romney; but politicians never spend their own money to buy friends; they use other people's money to do that.
Romney see's the writing on the wall, & so he wants on the ticket. Here's 2 Facts about men like Romney: 1. They can smell an opportunity and 2. They usually get what they want. In the end Mitt's 1/4 billion will top our 4 cents every time, CRK
Yes, my reply sounds subservient, & that sickens me.
So, let me say that in my opinion, Romney has been packaged like a Rep. John Edwards; hair and all. Like Edwards, Romney can't even deliver his own home State.
Romney is more sincere than Edwards (that's not saying much, but it needed to be said). Also, Mitt is gifted & has his own ideas; Edwards just reads a script. But, hubris is a guaranteed symptom of the talent Romney has been bestowed, & that scares me more than anything. CRK
I disagree, I think Arnold S. is the best choice. He can counter the rock star image of Obama and is moderate! There might be some consitutional issues.
"No disrespect to Gov. Romney; but politicians never spend their own money to buy friends"
Every Billionaire politician has! Look what Forbes did! Coors even tried it.
Perhaps those constitutional issues are why Arnie ain't on the list, but the bottomline is he ain't on the list.
Yes Billionare Politicians too, of course, because all politicians do that. There's a name for it: Politics, the Political or Campaign Industry. That's a fact.
I like the way you tied your orginal statement back into your last point, props, CRK
omiolo: actually, that's a reason why he should accept VP if offered. The only way to overcome the bigotry is to meet it head-on. And no better way to do that, than to let the people see a mormon (Romney) 24/7. It's like the JFK/Catholic thing...once the people become more familiar with actual Mormons (not the negative stereotypes), the more they'll understand it's just another religion, and it's the "person" that matters, not the religion.
"The only way to overcome the bigotry is to meet it head-on."
that didn't work for the Catholics when they first had a presidential candidate in 1920. It took 40 years before they could get another one. If Romney takes the nomination I hope you are right.
I live in the south and would love to see BIGOTS have to choose between a Mormon and an African American for the Presidency. To me whoever wins is a victory for ANTIbigotry! I would love to see a woman in the mix too!

-solidifies his maverick image and allows him to sell a message of "safe change" vs BO's "inexperienced change".
-makes a solid bid for the biggest group of swing voters; white women over 30.
-shores up his base. They LOVE this woman.
The down side is inexperience, but how can the Dems even mentinon this with BO at the top of their ticket?

tegalans 3 years ago
How do you know the depression would be short? As I see it, we have produced an inordinate number of MBAs in this country. Out they go into the financial world, highly competitive and say to themselves - 'How do I make money?' Then they come up with the ponzi scheme mortgage thing and sell the mortgages as AAA securities to the rest of the financial world - China, Germany, Britain and without responsibility retire to the Cayman Islands.
susantamm 3 years ago
The biggest thing that separates the left from the right(the real right not the Republicans)is the belief on wither the Government is the answer to our problems. Currently only the Government can stop the decline of the dollar but they created the Federal Reserve. You see that markets failed by no oversight, I see the Government meddling in those markets to begin with. There are two directions to every path. Government is the answer if we continue the way we are currently heading.
tegalans 3 years ago
If you want the money, invade the Cayman Islands, round up the guys on the beach drinking some fancy drink with an umbrella and take the money back. When the international community lost BILLIONS, they lost confidence in the American economy and the dollar fell.
susantamm 3 years ago
Basically you're saying that the Financial sector is doing what Enron did. I do believe that there are some people who are willing to destroy their companies to make a quick buck, I do not believe that is the case here. If we do have something similar to a depression or even a recession, it will not be short because of governmental interference. The Government will enact a New Deal style Policy and drag the economy through the mud. It would fix itself faster without government interference.
tegalans 3 years ago
I'm not convinced. How about that humungous deficit? Bracing. I do think some corporations are ethical but the mortgage scheme was anything but. As these variable rate mortgages 'mature' to variability after 5 years, we are losing billion on the mortgages contracted in 2003. So what about the ones purchased in 2004? They will become variable in 2009 and so on. So the govt trying to renegotiate those mortgages is important. It should prevent the loss of many billions more next year.
susantamm 3 years ago
The Federal Reserve and the government are responsible for deflating the value of the dollar. In order to stop a recession the government must spend more than it taxes. That means it has to print more money and that causes inflation. Everything that the Government does is a quick fix, that creating another bubble. It would be a lot easier to lick our wounds now than in the future. The Federal Reserve will eventually reach interest rates of 0%. If the Fed can not lower rates what then?
tegalans 3 years ago
I agree that printing money is stupid. But then look at the President and his band of thieves. There have to be safe-guards in place to prevent such practices or we will be in post World War I Germany with wheelbarrels of money to buy bread. Basically, I'm tired of being a victim of greed - whether corporate or govt.
susantamm 3 years ago

I for one do not want to live here in 2050 if we continue down this path.
tegalans 3 years ago
tegalans: I'm sympathetic. But, I don't know where else to go. Certainly not socialistic Europe. They've got immigration problems almost as bad as ours, and their demographic trends/projections are even worse.
Maybe we could move to Canada. lol. They've got a ton of room up there and hardly any people.
JohnR22926 3 years ago
I don't intend to abandon my country. America is not yet a lost cause. Organize a political movement like no one has seen before. Have you ever heard of the silent majority? As I said before if we can educate people; perhaps we can wake America up. It's hard when our choices for Presidents are Liberal and semi-Liberal.

McCain's going to pick the Senator from Israel?

MC has little chance of winning the election and IMO must gamble on his VP choice. He MUST pick a female as this is the only demographic he might possibly impact w/his VP choice. Plenty of angry Hillary supporters and lots of swing voting women that might be moved by the first-ever female as VP.
Romney is the safest choice; piles of money, fully vetted, the base likes him, and puts Michigan in play.
JohnR22926 3 years ago
I wasn't aware of ROmney's pull in Michigan, if that's the case then he's a lock.
BTW, women have been waiting a longtime to vote for a femakle president. They know that if Obama wins they gotta wait 8 years for the chance, if McCain wins, it's only 4.

At the end there I almost thought you were going to say Ron Paul.

Nope, "CASH" is not the main reason Romney is going to be chosen. Shallow commentary on your point.
You're overlooking Romney's Reaganesque qualities (perhaps because you don't understand it yet).
Romney has been acting Vice-Presidential for many weeks, doing interviews and stumping for McCain. It's all too obvious he's the pick.
Jindal is NOT popular as Romney
chrisand111 3 years ago
Thanks for watching and coommenting. However I never state that Jindal is more popular than Romney; I just don't. I state that Jindasl is popular, which he is.
You appear to admire Romney, cool. We can agree that he is the frontrunner for the nomination.
You believe that John McCain is interested in Romney because he (Romney) is "Reaganesque." You're right, I don't yet see that; but then again, I never saw it before Reagan and so no surprise that I havene't seen it since. CRK

As A Mormon, I hope McCain doesn't pick Romney and Romney doesn't accept the position.
I don't want Mormonism to be open season by the BIGOTS! I don't believe there should be a religious test for the office of VP!
omiolo 3 years ago
Well I should tell you that Romney is investing some pretty serious cash into his quest to be VP. Be proud of your religion and those who represent it well. CRK

"investing some pretty serious cash into his quest to be VP."
are you sure he isn't priming the pump for another Presidential bid. He appears to be doing what McCain and Reagon did. He is going around helping the Republican party and all their candidates get money.
I really think Crist is the guy McCain will pick!
omiolo 3 years ago
Crist is pound-4-pound the best choice. But, Romney is throwing around tons of cash. His cash, not just what he raised. No disrespect to Gov. Romney; but politicians never spend their own money to buy friends; they use other people's money to do that.
Romney see's the writing on the wall, & so he wants on the ticket. Here's 2 Facts about men like Romney: 1. They can smell an opportunity and 2. They usually get what they want. In the end Mitt's 1/4 billion will top our 4 cents every time, CRK
CrackrocKid 3 years ago
Yes, my reply sounds subservient, & that sickens me.
So, let me say that in my opinion, Romney has been packaged like a Rep. John Edwards; hair and all. Like Edwards, Romney can't even deliver his own home State.
Romney is more sincere than Edwards (that's not saying much, but it needed to be said). Also, Mitt is gifted & has his own ideas; Edwards just reads a script. But, hubris is a guaranteed symptom of the talent Romney has been bestowed, & that scares me more than anything. CRK
CrackrocKid 3 years ago
"Romney has been packaged like a Rep. John Edwards; hair and all."
I agree except Romney has the money that Edwards never had. Romney has the political connections that Edwards can never get.
BTW, I don't think Florida is a swing state unless Lieberman is on the Democratic ticket.
omiolo 3 years ago
Crist is the popular Govenor of FLA, McCain has always lead Obama in FLA, so Lieberman isn't the only key that to pop that lock.
& Edwards is ultra-wealthy. He lives in that other America. CRK

"Crist is pound-4-pound the best choice"
I disagree, I think Arnold S. is the best choice. He can counter the rock star image of Obama and is moderate! There might be some consitutional issues.
"No disrespect to Gov. Romney; but politicians never spend their own money to buy friends"
Every Billionaire politician has! Look what Forbes did! Coors even tried it.
"They usually get what they want. "
I agree, that is why I don't think he will be VP.
omiolo 3 years ago
Perhaps those constitutional issues are why Arnie ain't on the list, but the bottomline is he ain't on the list.
Yes Billionare Politicians too, of course, because all politicians do that. There's a name for it: Politics, the Political or Campaign Industry. That's a fact.
I like the way you tied your orginal statement back into your last point, props, CRK
CrackrocKid 3 years ago
omiolo: actually, that's a reason why he should accept VP if offered.
Mitt's only negative is that he's a panderer.
JohnR22926 3 years ago
JohnR229:
"The only way to overcome the bigotry is to meet it head-on."
that didn't work for the Catholics when they first had a presidential candidate in 1920. It took 40 years before they could get another one. If Romney takes the nomination I hope you are right.
I live in the south and would love to see BIGOTS have to choose between a Mormon and an African American for the Presidency. To me whoever wins is a victory for ANTIbigotry! I would love to see a woman in the mix too!
