Looks like a very well built washer. I'm amazed that an old washer like that is designed to spin at 1140 RPM. That's one hell of a spin cycle even by today's standards.
I assume you purposely disabled the lid-up cut-off, in order to be able to make a video of the inside. If there is no cut-off, I sure would install one;l otherwise that looks like a broken arm waiting to happen! Great machine, though!
Where do you find all these vintage machines? Im in the process of a total renovation of a 1956 ranch house which I plan on furnishing period. I have a 1955 GE "Liberator" range and a 1955 GE fridge with "Lazy Susan" shelves. Would love to find a period washer and dryer too.
This exact same #WI-56 washer came with a new house my parents bought in 1955. We moved in 11-55 so that is why we got the 1956 washer instead of the WV-65. We had the #DI-56 filtrator dryer too These were also available in colors.
Pretty incredible!!!when I was a child my mom had a 70's model Frigidiare unimatic and it was a great washer..wish I knew where I could find one like this though...
Glad you saved her! She is a beauty!! I'm all about saving old stuff from the brink and making it like showroom condition again! That goes for old cars to vintage toys to appliances!! Right on! I want a frigidaire!
Such a beautiful machine!! I'm so glad you were able to save her. The more I watch the Frigidaire Unimatics the more I want one. I'd love a 58 set like Roberts turquoise set. But I'm picturing a pretty dark emerald green to go with all the chrome. Great job Swestoyz!
