These men in the vid are all enlisted. And they've all been long done with their basic and AIT. Their at a MOUT site conducting urban operations training, just fyi. ;)

@apower1213 It's not just a "thing they put on the gun while not in use", it plugs the barrel so when firing blanks the rifle which is gas operated can still eject the cartridge. Without it the rifle would simply fire the one blank and not eject the round since the gas would just slip out the end of the barrel. It's also safety, as any obstructions that might get into the rifle could be shot out even using blanks causing injury or death (see Brandon Lee's death).

Of all photos in the photo album on our military website of all the Seabees, my dad (one of the most serious guys in the battalion) was the only non serious person in the photos. Haha. @HOBBYTRONFAN i'm not sure but i guess they're shooting blanks. so if the m4 has the same system as f.e. the SIG 550 we have in the swiss army, it needs the pressure of the bullet to reload, which is not given when you're shooting woth blanks since no bullet is going through the barrel. so the caps are just there to keep the pressure inside the rifle to make it reload. just a guess, i'm no pro in m4 :-) cheers
