  • 29 ppl dont have golfs

  • LOl U got an autobot logo on Ur windshield?

  • Right to the point in this video. Right away "It's minus 15 (degrees Centigrade), let's see if the car starts."

    XD... ;)

  • handbrake at -15C....

  • You don't need a face mask for -15 C.

  • turn off the fan

  • my mk2 start at -30 :)

  • cold is cold

  • You would have MUCH more fun with a mk2 turbo diesel at -27 in montreal.

  • Bad Glow plugs

  • My 1996 Golf TDI can, so no wonder yours can too :D.

  • I'm glad it's not just mine that sounds that way!

  • lol! "Transformers" sticker on windshield :))

  • Thats a dang good cold start

  • me too, same cold start

  • How many KM's do you have to drive before your car starts blowing heat out of the vents?

  • oh wow... a face mask in -15? that's not cold. in manitoba we go out in t-shirts in that kind of weather!

  • @E34BMW535i lol

  • @E34BMW535i haha same here I live in the mtns of nc

  • @E34BMW535i maybe cause of the wind, which can make a huge difference.

  • @policeman1313 i went outside in my underwear to kill a bear for my family when it was -42C, and -67C with windchill. my beard iced up. i know about the effects of windchill.

  • @E34BMW535i holy crap that's just crazy. Can't even imagine how cold that would be, as my hands were freezing yesterday in 0c while pumping fuel into my car. Sure it was windy, but 0c is nothing.

  • @E34BMW535i in finland we go rolling to snow from sauna when it gets too hot inside, naked.

  • @E34BMW535i yea but you're canadian

  • @E34BMW535i u guys r used to tht he isnt

  • @E34BMW535i and that's why when you get older you have all kinds of health problems from inflamation and spend you 40'rties in senior homes. Canadians are so stupid they actually think it's healthy to go out in t-shirts and shorts in cold weather, I'm from canada too and I see canadians doing all kinds of stupid shit, this being one of them.

  • @Pistolleta Ignorant ! Did you know that USA is the first one on the planet for malnutrition and obesity !

So dont under esteem Canada cause one personne tell you a stupid thing !

  • opel zafira 2.2 petrol owns its fucking fast :D

  • ohh yea babyyyy

  • Turn the aircon off! Lol!

  • whats special about this video/car??? in the winter we´ve got around -20°C every day

  • I started my VW Touran in Norway, when it was -37 celcius outside! it started right away! :)

  • why are u retards posting videos like these how u start your car? thats pretty silly... every young car can do that... that shouldn't be a problem... -.-'

  • Plz is it Benzin or Diesel

  • @anassgame TDI... doesn't that say anything to you?

  • @TheWetbackHater

I know U a lame man, u cant find a -60 in middle of the fuckin Siberian territory.

And only an idiot use a diesel engine a climate like this.

    Peace, buddy!

  • @TheWetbackHater

Bullshit jacass, where U living, in the antarctic?

  • Ale się tłucze!!! To nie JTD...

  • TDi tak ma.

  • @vbusiarz Dokladnie tak ma :)

  • You should not need to have the car in heated storage or with a block heater to start well into the minus 30's range. All you need is a good set of glow plugs and a very good battery!

  • i love golf i sold my audi a4 4 2001 golf

  • ich wees jo ach net

  • what is that on the board like a spiral at my bmw e60 appeard and i dont know what is? pls thxxx

  • it's glow plugs..

  • Try this start in -40C temperatures.

Good luck without a block heater.

  • Try to heat candle two times until you start it. My Vw Bora 99' 1,9tdi start like you on -30 C last year :)

  • The best golf ever!! Love IV series!

  • he uses probably some dirty old european disel fuel lol

  • Probably U don't know but European fuel is much cleaner than in US, I mean sulphur...

  • Smaller diesel engines don't have the same problems large (truck) engines do. A lighter rotating assemble makes start up less of an issue. The biggest problem you have is when the engines inertia is lost and the one or two cylinder heating up the block bog out. In a jam the best way to guarantee a good start is with ether. Just be sure your glow plugs are unhooked or your going to blow the thing up.

  • Never use ether in a diesel with a pre-combustion chamber, it's a sure way to kill it.

  • u should press the gass a little bit when u first start the engine

    it helps

  • I'ts electronic controlled pump, no need to "overfuel" at all it may helped a bit in old worn diesels but this one sounds quite healthy.

  • you guys make me laugh -15C, my 98 Jetta TDI starts fine at

-45C (no heater), so yea cold start is a none issue with TDI's, it only become a little harder when you go back to the IDI diesel engines, my 91 golf had problems with -10C so it needed to stay pluged

  • its fun seeing just what a IDI does when its been sitting cold overnight, lol you just keep reglowing and after a few minutes of glowing it should start on the turn of the key with a little throttle

  • i've ran all year round with 1 out of 4 glow plugs working, on an IDI diesel, no problems!

  • not to sound like an ignorant prick but i'm pretty sure you don't get the same weather as we in northern Canada

  • oh man i wish they made the B5 Passat available with a diesel engine in Canada..I'm stuck with the 1.8 turbo..

was just wondering..what kind of average fuel consumption can you manage on these TDIs? Lowest average on my Passat I got was around 7.9 or 8 L/100 km

  • 3.8 - 5.5 L/100 km

  • Hitler's revenge

  • this Golf IV was made in Slovakia. In winter is here to -20°C. To this time my parents have no problem with 1,9 TDI Golf IV in winter. :o) good luck boy!

  • why do you need to wait for glow plugs to go away??

  • You don't...but it helps warm up the combustion chambers to let the car start easier.

  • My '02 Golf Tdi had a rough winter but here in New York the lowest it had to start was -4 degrees Fahrenheit. It took a while for the plugs to heat ,but it fired right up and clattered just the same. BTW with 180000 miles on it.

  • wow it started did sound like dual mass flywheel was knackered.

  • hehehe ninja

  • lol OH YEAH BABY!

  • yeah i just bought an 01 golf with 2.0 petrol motor from the auction , nice looking little car but after reading this jus started having doubts bout it.

  • i cant belive what im hearing! i have an 94 polo with nearly 200,000 miles on the clock, its a 1.6 petrol and it hasnt had an easy life, my right foot is rather heavy. And guess what? every morning, i turn that key, rain or shine, and she starts up like new. Wouldnt change it for the world.

  • lol OOH YEAH BABY

  • my 1998 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 start so fine at -40

  • your cavalier is a diesel?

  • my golf II 1.6D starting -25 VW is very good cars

  • -15'C is cold? Wow that would be like a heat wave here right now!

  • thats really cool. where do you live?

  • boybreda ... I've had 7 VW's now and the last 4 have been diesel models ...

NOTHINGS Ever gonewrong with the diesels ....

Starts on the button EVERYTIME !!!!!

even when running on 50/50 veg !

  • Thats rare to get 4 good ones!!, every VW I have known, wether it was mine or someone I have known's car, has been a rough, unreliable, badly made, badly engineered piece of crap, always something wrong, electric issues galore, blowing fuses for no reason, diesel pump blowing at 20k miles, plus many more expensive and unforgivable faults, terrible, overrated crap basically, always have been...

  • my family has always driven VW. We had a 94 jetta GL with a diesel engine we sold it in 2005 with 550,000 km on it and it still ran fine. We currently own an 03 gas Jetta and an 05 diesel Passat. Both cars run excellent. The passat has 240,000 on it and the jetta has 110,000.

VW's are excellent cars that outshine all american cars without question. You sir are an idiot.

  • My Experiences have been the opposite to yours, Ive owned 7 in total over the last 13 years and all have been utter crap, thats the god honest truth... Constant electrical and trim issues, basically nothing better in my opinion than anything from Poland or Russia!!

  • maybe you've just had bad luck. Are they old VW's? they tend to run a lot worse then the newer ones.

  • One was a 1994 Golf TD, at the time it was only 3 years old, it broke down constantly, doors rusted and trim broke, there were similar problems to the other 2 also which 1998 ands 2004 year models

  • yea the early 90's models tended to rust a lot. but the 98 and 04? thats weird... especially the 04 model. I love my 03 Jetta. probably just bad luck i suppose.

  • sorry the 94 rusted, the 98 had Diesel pump fail after 3 weeks of being new, then the main engine fuse blew for no reason, then other electrical issues after that. The 2004 model was plaged with electric issues mainly, whole instrument binnacle failed including dials and back lights, then the ECU went faulty all this after less than a year! Nevermind!

  • @monkeyboy27476 - Even though I respect your opinion, I can't help but think you're cognitively delayed. Any reasonable person would stop buying any product that they believed to be "utter crap" but you on the other hand, continued to buy the same brand again and again, not just one or two but SEVEN?!!! Am I missing something here or are you simply an idiot?

  • sounds like my old seat ibiza 1.9 diesel

  • That would be because they are basically the same car

  • yeah but your has a turbo and mine didnt

  • Not surprised, Diesel Volkswagons start every time even if it was cold enough for hell to freeze over

  • Yes but sometimes they take 1110+293843948 times ot start whn it`s really cold . The

  • Got NOTHING to do with VW, but with diesel engine and glow plug system.

  • VW diesels are horrible rough things, rattly and smoky, other diesels are much better

  • @mickeymoose76

Completely wrong. I currently own 5 Diesels (7.3 ford, 5.9 cummins, kubota, 2 TDI's) and they are just as reliable as the two trucks i have. they both smoke less and the tdi's are quiet. Not to mention i average 45MPG and do a $50 oil change every 10,000 miles. Its actually a very reliable engine often seen in excess of 300,000 miles. You are extremely misinformed.

  • german engineering

  • yeah, rough and noisy!

  • -15 and your dressed for a blizzard?? what kind of canadian are you?? lol

  • Yeah, that's t-shirt weather.

  • I have a 1996 VW Passat TDI that I love. It never gets that cold in GA of course.

  • And your Tercel has a gasoline engine, BIG DIFFERENCE!

  • wow thats very good

  • diesel frozen point is higher than gasoline. This is why Diesel engine is not recommended for country s like Canada

  • Comment removed

  • Handles great in the cold. Especially on 20% biodiesel.

  • YES espacially japanese diesels can take lllooooonnnngggg time to start. If you want something that starts in the winter buy a european car.

  • My Yaris diesel always starts the same wether its cold or hot outside.

If you want a car that brakes down everytime buy a European car, especially VW's!

  • Yeah, Toyota has much better quality and less expenses to own their cars!!! I got a VW TDI 99, so i know what im talking about. My sister got Yaris.

  • Toyota are much better quality and engineering wise, VWs are rough, badly made shit, sorry but they are!

  • I think the word is 'DOH!'

  • Clearly not true. I've own two and they are clearly better than Fords and Vauxhalls. Volkswagen diesels have more power, better economy and lower emissions.

  • @cashw55 Total rubbish, it depends on the engine and how it has been serviced.

  • Stats don't lie, what's total rubbish?

  • @itssmail-

What do you think of Toyota now? Ha!

  • not really, you're making that up...
