Has anyone noticed that they never refer to The Beach Boys by name in the movie? They refer to the Crickets, Lesley Gore and of course, The Beatles, but not the BBs! Curious.
I have this film on video tape but the first half hour got eraced . it's a funny little movie and the beach boys sing several songs at various parts in the film. I dont know why it is so obscure and never shown anywhere, it doesnt make sense. lori saunders, who played bobbie-jo on pettycoat junction , is the belly dancer in the yellow bikini and vail. leslie gore sounds great as always in the film too.someone upload this movie if you have it!
Those beach movies were great. Clean and fun. It was an era where you could walk the streets at night with no fear. Leave your things on a beach blanket, go for a swim and everything would still be there. Cool cars. Real music. Closer families. Teachers who cared. Real heroes. Athletes who played for their sports more than for money. Affordable houses (you could even buy a house through Sears). I could go on and on and on. Please send me back in time. George Vreeland Hill
No mention of the Beach Boys in the trailer even tho they sung the theme song?! They'd had number 1's in 64 and 65 and countless top 10's!? Contractual thing maybe...??
@yakjedi Sir, By the 70's, The guys had really regretted doing this film! Sad, because it had them doing " GOB", " Little Honda" & my favorite," The Lonely Sea ", with BW's incredible voice. . I know this film is available--yes, I saw it!!--but exactly where, I'm unsure. Oldies. com is a good place to start.
The best thing about this film is Linda Saunders (later Lori Suanders -Bobbie Joe of Petticoat Junction), but why is her yellow bathing suit wiggle blurred out in front of the judges?
@kevlar21059 You right, and it's a shame she is a natural beauty, she appeared in a episode of the Beverly Hillbillys in a sex bathing suit, and in Mara of the Wilderness in a skimpy costume she is too sexy to hide.
Could you be a little more specific? The girl sitting beside the guy who has his mouth open and his hand on top of his head, or the girl in the orange bikini (carol connors?) etc? Whats her name? she ever do any other films? Did she mention what it was like to make this movie?
Note the big haired brunette in the orange bikini at :14-:23 and at :56
Thats Carol Connors. She was the lead singer of the Teddy Bears, who had a number one hit song in 1958 with the song "To Know Him is to Love Him." AND she was a co-writer for the song "Gonna Fly Now". Also known as the theme song to the 1976 Sylvester Stallone movie Rocky.
Apparently, the makers of this trailer almost completely forgot that the hottest American rock group at the time was in the movie. Didn't they think having a beach movie with the actual Beach Boys was a strong selling point? And all they got in this trailer was a brief mention. It's as if they thought Lesley Gore was the bigger lure.
Longtime Dayton Ohio theater owners Sam, Al and Lou Levin that own and operate the Dixie Twin Drive-In produced this film!! Contracted by Roger Corman's production company for a writer, director and studio. I read this in the Life section of The Dayton Daily News, Sunday, June 8, 2008 edition! Films like this were Great Drive-In Fun!! We need more films like them today. Thank you for adding the trailer!
whose the Leslie Gar singer chick? shes singing that "...loser in love song". sounds pretty good. i wanna see if i can find her music or atleast that song
I am only 36 and I think the girls back then were WAY hotter than now. Every time you see girls now they are all sticking out their tounges to show off their piercings...I mean Oooo a pierced tounge how SHOCKING! And what's with all these white chicks not being able to take a picture without making some sort of wanna be 'gang sign'? It just seems there was a little more class back then and not so many fake ass, hard as a rock boob jobs. : )
actually i think it's because there were no such thing as gang signs and tongue piercings to show off back then.. besides all you seen in a '60's film with girls is what the producers wanted you to see.. not what was actually going on in the real world.. but i do understand what you are saying..
@netwolf yeah right dude. none to little birth control, abortion was illegal in most states , sodomy laws etc. not to mention civil rights , JFK assasination, Cold War, Vietnam War ,.....

Leslie Gore looks surprising a lot like Gillian Anderson. Agent Scully at the beach party.......
