$17,000 for one of these, yet you get a quick (yet very ugly) Grand Tourer with a Ferrari Gearbox and a 400hp V8... this would make a Dodge Challenger piss itself and i'd gladly drive one of these, the only bad thing is the 10 mpg city 16 hwy
If you want one, Take a 996 3.6l carrera now for the same price instead...realiability, much better to drive, still have 4seats...well narrow ones in the back but still usable!
Flat6 consumption...so about half less than this...and you still got a porsche...which is not bad compared to maserati...in term of legend i mean...
@spinaker38 reliability? no way. look up IMS failure on the 996 and 997. no doubt that they are great cars though. i would take a 996 turbo or GT3 over this car (964 dry sump block) and boost the 911 turbo to at least 600 hp to keep up with the joneses.
Why i would: Italian sex appeal, not many cars can give you the same amount of right words to say other then an Italian car. The coupes stylish good looks, great coupe styling making it look brilliant. Lastly, they are affordable if looking to buy pre-owned, which makes for a great bargin when looking for an Exotic
Why i wouldnt: I've read reviews on repairs and i herd nothing but nightmare stories. Unreliable and electrical gremlins. Id put my money on DEUTSCHLAND!
@sk8erdoodjames I agree they are a performance bargain and good fun, but having driven one it did kind of feel like it was trying to kill me most of the time.
These things are subjective, but I suspect you will be in the minority thinking it looks better than the F355, which to my mind at least is one of the most beautiful and well proportioned cars ever made.
Hope you enjoy your new toy anyway, and just take care during winter on those roundabouts on cold/ wet days! :-)
could someone please tell me what the song that starts at 30 seconds is? it starts again at 2:10 and again at 3:06. if someone could let me know please.
What's wrong with this guy this is an amazing car! It looks and sounds amazing and the interior is butiful any one who has seen this car in person will agree that this is one good car!
Why does Jeremy hate Maseratis so freaking much? My neighbor has a 2006 stick version of this model and he took me for a ride in it today with my fiance. Sure the Ferrari gearbox linkage is funky going into 2nd gear, but he reached 120mph only in 3rd gear and the noise was fabulous. I'm in love with Maseratis now and they're not too expensive. A 2008 Quattroporte with 32k miles for only $50k, plus no recalls. And you can get a Spyder version in Germany for only 37k Euro!
I own one of these cars and am staggered that Clarkson can get it so wrong with this vehicle. No problem starting it, incredible power/performance and excellent build quality - oh and yes an engine made by Ferrari developing 390BHP! Not bad eh! 0-60 in 4.9 seconds and top end, 180mph. That will do me nicely thank you.
Like to see a track test in the dry too, never seen it do wet out there!
