Hey Las Vegas did the "family" theme for a while, you may not remember. It's location, location, location baby! National Harbor has it's own private exit from the Washington Beltway, so the infrastructure is in place NOW. When Gaylord sells that property or decides to obtain a gaming license on its own, then they'll see the light, or rather the dollars.
You put enough money in one place and it makes a lot of sense without further explanation. Why would anyone go to the Nevada desert otherwise?
National Harbour is going to make a great CASINO in the near future! Water-Shuttle service to Nationals Stadium so that'll be a safe way to see a baseball game without having to be IN the city very much. East access by water to King Street in Olde Towne Alexandria and future access to Mt. Vernon by water. DC hotel rooms are small, National Harbour hotel rooms are large in comparison and NEW! The only disadvantage is that everthing is overpriced compared to the other options of Oxon Hill, MD.
National Harbor will NEVER get slots. Why on earth would they EVER build slots at a resort that's supposed to be "family-oriented"? That would be like the state deciding to put slots in Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Wouldn't make sense.....lol
