  • tim had the GCX + ground control way back...

this set up is so flexible for him, he wanted the pedals up front, for him to play with the knobs realtime ;)

  • i got an autogragh of him and chad backstage in nissian pivvilion

  • @kaylynstar99 you live in maryland?

  • @OfficialRobbieMason no i live close there though

  • Must be nice mahoney!

  • Totally groovy. I was at that show, and was just staring at his gear. Poor room to mix sound in, but fantastic music nonetheless.

  • pedalboard looks really neat.

  • this guy needs to look into a voodoo lab gcx + ground control and ge all that stuff of the floor....

  • good call - Im actually doing a rig up with a GCX + rack mounted pedals ripped out of their casing... heh. easier to carry and adjusting knobs will be at arms reach. just better. but a pain in the ass. I'll post a video when done.

  • @wolfhalen dude she's hot man

  • @wolfhalen I must agree.

  • Those are a lot of pedals...wow.

  • 10 years ago i would've killed somebody to see a video like this on tim's gear. much love mahoney!

  • tims fuckin insane. i love that PRS i've seen him live many times. hes so consistant, they all are thats one reason i fucking love 311.

  • is that boss Oc-2 Octave pedal what tim uses on that riff from beautiful disaster when it sounds like two guitars? or is it just literally two guitars

  • Usually in a studio you'd layer two different guitar tracks(or more) and get a more organic sound. A Boss pedal is good live but recording harmonies in a studio is different story. And I'm sure Tim plays pretty much all the guitar in studio.

  • Mahoney is a beast.

  • not a huge fan of 311 but i can understand why some guitar players use that may pedals.... not for me though i like keepin it simple... gets too confusing when drinking ;)

  • Lucky Bastard!

  • tim's rig is too legit. those pedalboards are super legit.

  • Hey "Jackson4308" go to a 311 show, then still try to tell me it's overkill. Tim knows his sound, there's a reason he has that much shit on stage.

  • HAHA I love tim, he looks like he just woke up from a nap, love it!

  • not really when you have as wide a spectrum of sound as 311

  • Interesting. I love Tim!

  • Tim also has a Red 7-string PRS that he used for Mindspin at the House of Blues in 2006 in Mrytle Beach

  • It's actually a Schecter C7+ that he used to use for Mindspin.

  • :) I did not know that

  • Camera man fuckin sucks

  • chad plays guitar? wtf?

  • "Aww","WoW" how beautiful his guitars are very clean and orgainized dude. Tim is the best Lead guitarist ever!!!

  • Excellent interview! Tim's set up is mind boggling. I was at that Iowa city show. Worst sounding venue I've ever been to. That place definitely wasn't meant for live music.

  • Yeah bro I saw then on the spring tour, they played some weird places, the sound/acoustics sucked...

  • I saw them in April at the very beginning of their 2009 Spring tour. In Tucson the sound was awesome. In Albuquerque the sound was shit.

  • 2:00 -wow, Tim thanx a lot for sharing! 'Mind Spin' is an awesome song that i dont really see them play much. i actually always wonder why the guitar track on that song sounds lower than my guitar can go. i just used a pitch shifter and took it down an octave. interesting, very

  • I drool over that man's rig. I pine for his and John Frusciante's equally. So many sweet pedals and amps.

  • uhh, who dat biddie bee..?

  • Hold the camera still on that first guitar's headstock inlay for chrissake, that was a cool design. Wish I had a chance to see it!.

I'm surprised his Mutron settings aren't a little more extreme but then again I guess I'm not surprised. After watching this video it's clear that Tim uses like a million pedals in a subtle way that together sound like Tim. Good luck getting this guy's tone with just an amp and a few pedals!!!!

  • sweet. so sweet.

  • Vintage Mu Tron III???

    DO WANT

  • Sick. So sick.

  • wicked. so wicked.

  • that's some cool kit!!!!

  • sick i live in iowa city and that show was great

  • That 76 Explorer was NICE
