That's right, "loonpond." In my High School, Abraham Lincon H.S., Phila, PA, we had a "Community Room" and we had a DJ playing 45s during our lunch period. We could go to the room and listen/dance to the music and "The Stroll" was one of the favorites. We still do "The Stroll" at our class reunions. I'm class of January '57. Did get tired of hearing the "preacher" though. Thanks for the vid.

This is the original Stroll as sung by The Diamonds and as danced in High School gyms all across the country in the 50's (1957, I think) Boys in one line, girls in the opposite line and when you got to the top of the line, you and your partner got to "stroll" down the center of the two lines back to the end of the line.
@bbynellie13 Oh but little do you know... But of course that's because you are only 16. Little do you know there are several versions of the same dance wether it's the stroll , a line dance, or even a partner dance of some sort. Diferent instructors have different versions of dances.
Plus instructors sometimes change dances on their own that suits the group of people they are teaching. Just like say the watermelon crawl or boot scootin boogie same music but there are different versions. I wish everything was the same but it's not that way.
@bbynellie13 There is the east coast stroll & the west coast stroll, just to name two. Then there were all sorts of 'couple strolls'...we called them 'moonlight' couple strolls.
@bbynellie13 Hey, was it your dad who told me you didn't need to go to college because you already knew everything? Just teasing, but the other replies say it all!!
Everybody has a right to make a comment. But with over 4000 members to this club that only speaks for itself. He was one of the top instructors in this state
Seems to me that this whole vid was about the guy "tryin' " to teach, (all about himself). NOT the dance it's self!!! You can tell by his "costume" !!
You came here for 7:36 like me, right?

I teach English to school kids in Japan.
I taught them how to do the Nutbush. They mastered it. I wish I had a camera.
Teaching them to do the Stroll is beyond me.
Maybe I should try the Chicken Dance.
