I'm having trouble with the part "And I realize your mine / Indeed a fool of mine / etc etc". The riff I'm having trouble with starts on the word "MINE" at the end of each line. It's a basic power chord shape where you hammer-on and pull-off with the index finger. It looks like you're just hammering-on and pulling-off on the low E string, but I can't manage to get the same sound out of my guitar. Are you doing something else? What's the trick?

There's no trick. Its not hammering or pull off. Its just strumming at 7 and then at 0. Its a normal power chord. Are you sure you're tuned in C Standard?

just one suggestion. that high note after he sings "heaven smiles above me" is not one of the frets. he takes his pick and strums the strings right before they go on the fretboard. so right between the tuning pegs and the nut and you should get that note.
