First time i see this mounting solution.. very nice. This way you don't have a suction mount on your windshield, or any marks from suction mounts, which could attract thieves. I lost my Tomtom that way, now i'm going for a zumo 660 because it's made for motorcyclists, maybe have to get this friction mount too for in my car.
How are you supposed to see the gps while driving if it mount on the bottom. To me the GPS should be mount eye level to the road, in that way if you missed the voice prompt you can just glance the gps. mount it in the dash board for me is the best
I just bought a garmin nuvi, and I have the vent mount (which places the unit up higher) IThe mount clips easily into the vent to hold it and you just press down on the the clips to remove.
Thanks for the video. It seems like over the cup holders is a great spot for the friction stand. This is my preferred spot as well, although as you say you have to look down at it. Even still, having it over the cup holders is a really convenient spot so I'm torn between the cup holders and the dash. I think I'll stick with keeping the unit over the cup holders.
Thanks very helpfull,Iam in Canada and at summer time my car dashboard melts my unit suction cup I will get one base holder like the one you have. Thanks
Something I forgot to mention is that from a safety standpoint, it's probably better to have the GPS unit up on the dash while driving-you don't have to look down as much and can better keep your eyes in the line of sight of the road. I now prefer to place the unit on the dash.
This grip mount works much better than a windshield mount that will eventually come loose or an adhesive mount that looks weird and can also, over time come lose.

It should be fine on the dash while you are driving; as long as you take it off of there when you leave the car.

I mount my gps on the windshield close to passenger side and the police saw it but didn't care.

Thank you for the video, I have a 260w, my original mounting support was stolen, so I'll buy one friction mount.
