  • If US had another war and fought with music they would call them in for mission Shock and Awe.

  • Shane plays for various bands in the Des Moines, IA area. Scot tours professionaly with the Tommy Castro Band.

  • @rad87gn This video was "The Blues on Grand House Band". Various pro musicians in the area put this band together and hosted open jam sessions on Thursday nights. They are no longer together.

  • What's the name of this band?...I REALLY like them

  • WOW !!!!NEVER HEARD OF THEM BEFORE, SORRY, BUT THEY ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • @morcoho19660 Thumbs up!!

  • I have played with Shane. I can say that he is one of the BEST! It has been 13 years since.......I'm glad I found this. Cheers Shane! Good stuff Brah!

  • Hendrix would be proud my friend. Well Playedl!

  • wild guitar playing hahaha i dig the faces too man thats WILD 10/10

  • I do like the bass solo. Someone who is under-noticed is the drummer. A lot of drummers go into it thinking about themselves, not the band (think rock drummers) whereas its truly respectable to see someone just play for the band. I really like how he backs up the solos perfectly. Only a slight comment about the Guitar Solo, something that I've picked up from a friend is pausing. You play a lot of notes, that's acceptable in blues, just leave some time in between mass sessions. (Bassist myself)

  • unfortunately...I won't remember any of this after listening. None of it even remotely resonated with me as something that was worth going back to see...I say this as a musician of over 40 years...good talent, yes...they just didn't do anything that made me go "wow". The bass solo was just all over the place with nothing holding it together. Ugh...

  • @acoustimac That's a lot of talk for someone with no videos out there for everyone else to make fun of.

  • I don't think its necessary to put videos out there to showcase my stuff. My band's fans find us wherever we are playing and they are the ones I worry about...not YouTube viewers. My music speaks for itself. If there is anything I've learned over the years it is "simple and solid is better". The more you try to impress by running all over the neck of your guitar the less you actually deliver.

  • acoustimac, Shane here the guitar player in question and I totally agree with you. Hell one of my fave players ever is Andy Fairweather Low. The nights at Blues on Grand ..well It's usually a bunch of players gathering together in the art of excess lol just for fun. This happens to just be a snapshot of one of those "excess" moments. The bass player was expanding on ideas from earlier in the song. He is the best player ive played with bar none. always complementing whats going on around him.

  • Glad to hear that...I hope my post wasn't taken as a diss to the players themselves but rather trying to make the point that memorable music doesn't have to be flash. Believe me...I know all about what jam sessions can be...fun..fun...fun!

  • @acoustimac - Just understand what you are seeing in this video is about 0.0005% of what these Kats can do. This is an off the cuff IMPROVE for the moment. If you can really pay attention to what is happening and that is this..you are seeing a couple awesome musicians just feeling the moment in a blazing moment. They know absolutely the difference between making noise and music. Just my 2 cents of knowing them well.

  • chubby in command

  • @carquecoisa8 Dude. Then don't make fun of the best musicians in Iowa if you feel that way. This entire video is an IMPROVE and this video is one of the best guitar players and bassist in a long span. BTW...Shane (on guitar) and Scot (on bass) is some of the best musicians in multi states. If you wanna make fun of them them you better have something to back it up or shut the F up.

  • Hey Chadly! Shane here, you know what they say that the camera adds 15.................so don't all those cheeseburgers :) Thats okay cuz my wife is hot!!!

  • @shanjesnen1 - Shane, you crack me up!! And yeah, that wife of yours is no doubt HOT..I mean SMOKIN HOT!! ;-)

  • Okay! I gotta listen again!

  • @S900509 BTW -- Shane and Scot are in some MAJOR bands...and it appears your self esteeme as a player is pretty low so leave these cats alone and just enjoy.

  • Give that man some oxygen. Good hell. I got tired just watching him play! That was some great guitar playing! I love energetic solo's like that.

  • Damn I Miss Iowa

  • And what bass guitar is that?

  • Vintage '70's USA Jazz Bass with EMG's and Badass Bridge.

  • Btw, what is that plate that covers the strings in the middle of the body for? I've seen those on Rickenbackers, too.

  • Vintage Fender Jazz and Precision basses came with chrome covers over the bridge and neck pickups. It was to shield noise and for looks. Same reason for Rickenbackers.

  • Awesome!

  • gr8!

  • This is cool

  • HOLY #*$*#!$!!!! Shane is AWESOME!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome! Love the bass, especially from 4:00 - 4:10

  • Cool Jammin' dudes! awsome guitar playing.
