@greymoose1000 It’s truly sad when a terrible accident is used to further one’s own agenda of hate. The University of Notre Dame did something that is never done in this country anymore, they took responsibility! Calling this murder just proclaims to the world your lack of intelligence, or even your ability to check a definition in a dictionary.

Thank you so much for playing one of my favorite NOTRE DAME fight song. Interestingly, this song is played very slowly throughout the famous John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara movie, "The Quiet Man". The music is played more up tempo during the great fight scene between John Wayne and Victor McGlaucklin.
Hi! Im confused...Im from Mallow, a town in county Cork. We know this as a sort of satirical song about, shall we say, young gentlemen misbehaving and encouraging local girls to do likewise... What does it have to do with American football? Also, do ye mean Damhsa Bua, as in "victory dance"? I don't mean to sound cheeky, Im just genuinely curious. Thanks in advance! xx
@tiarastardu17 damsha bua is played when the notre dame fighting irish the sports teams from the university of notre dame score a touchdown (if your not familiar with american football its the main method of scoring) seeing as how it is called a victory dance i suppose now it makes a bit of sense, Im not trying to sound mean or talk to you like youre stupid but i dunno how much you know about Notre Dame or american football
@Panther571989 Well, to me, Notre Dame is a Gothic church in Paris and American football seems to be sort of like rugby played while wearing huge shoulderpads... so thanks for the info! one more question- in Irish, dance is damhsa, pronounced dow-sah (sort of).If ye write it damsha, do ye pronounce it dam-sha? Its so strange how Irish words get changed along the way.I recently heard Samhain pronounced "Sam Hain"! but not surprising considering the crazy spelling I supose. Thanks again! xx
@tiarastardu17 im not sure how its pronounced exactly myself as I have heard several different prounciations but i think theres a video on here somewhere where an announcer says the name of the song before the band plays it
@goblue122394 oh I will, but what kind of example is Denard Robinson is setting for todays kindergartner. They are going to say," look mommy the heisman winner dosen't tie his shoes, why should we?" But in all seriousness that was a hell of a game between two evenly matched teams and Michigan (MEATCHICKEN) was the better team that day. And that is all that counts. NEXT TIME! (SHAKES FIST IN THE AIR)
Does Notre Dame still play the Imperial March (Star Wars) during games? I always thought that this was a much better/inspiring tune - they should play it regularly.
@jpsartrean the Imperial march is used on big plays, in conjunction with shouting "Kill" repeatedly, while doing somewhat of a overhand stabbing motion, typically led by the student section
@dfloodhive..it's a fairly new tune to Notre Dame. By new, I mean within the past 10 years. It was written by the current conductor, Ken Dye and it's called "The Celtic Chant". One of my favorites. My son was in the band in 2003 and it will be a year I will never forget.
What the heck??? Who turned it into a Polka??? The base should never cover the melody! Rakes of Mallow is awesome but you can't even tell that that's what this is!
@truckerclock22@truckerclock22 Its a Reel not a Jig. A Reel and a Jig are types of Irish Dance music. Rakes of Mallow is the name of this Reel. Although this version is quite fast, reels are usually slower then jigs.
@S93G oh, ok. Thanks! I absolutely love this version!!! I could watch Rudy every day of my life, and I just found out a second cousin of mine played with Rudy at ND, and his name is even mentioned the the History of Notre Dame football DVD!
@truckerclock22 Woah!! Achievement much! Some people just find themselves doing stuff like that... wow! Your cousin is either very talenst and very lucky!! Probably both!!
Hi there! In case you haven't been back on here, the song that the ND fans pump their fists to is "The Celtic Chant". It was actually written by the current director, Ken Dye. My son was in the band in 2003 and it is a year I will never forget.
notre dame has some of the best fight songs...can anyone tell me the other one...not there fight song but its kind of a jingle i always hear it at notre dame games...?????
"Hike, Notre Dame" is played by the band as they move into their pregame formation right before the fight song. There's also the Victory Clog and then that one song they play after a TD, can't remember the name

We are ND. We don't mind losing. We just want to have a good time.
Having parades, playing music, dancing the jig, drinking, and abusing the altar boys. We are ND!
