Is that Steve Shelley playing drums? He used to do that from time-to-time.
I'm pretty sure I saw her play w a band at Dottie's, but it couldn't have been this show. I know for sure I saw her play solo in the other room in 1996.
And, like all the indie kids, I'd go to Fellini's just hoping she'd be the one slinging the pizza that day.
like many other songs, we hear their two guitars mingling. they play together like two dogs who never really bite each other, yet their snouts remain opened wide. one might encounter problems when trying to play this, seeing how chan handles the rhythm and tim (?) plucks within the seemingly improper chords. get a buddy to play with you if you really want to feel this one.
Thanks for putting this up. Its the first live footage Ive ever seen of her from the New York period. Her first three albums are so garagey and raw its unbelieveable and I think this comes across even more when you see live footage like this.
wow. the craziest thing is that it always takes about 4 or 5 times of listening to a song to realize how good it really is. i am truly in love with this song. i never though a song besides mr. gallo or ice water could keep my eyes so watered! i love you old chan.
ha i love how everyone is so thankful for this post. it seems i have something in common with them in the fact that i too am a cat power fan but of her early work. perhaps these people feel the same way. her older songs have this feel to them she no longer produces.
Actually, when i first saw this i thought it was a cover band. i wasn't even sure if it was chan.ha. well it might be bc the audio doesn't match. either way i never heard this song until this video and i too love it.
I actually saw her live at Dotties back in the 90's. She opened solo for the Rock*a*Teens. Dotties was a dive, but I had some good times there. Brings me back.
So young, so cute, so sexy, kinda boyish and a little grunge-like style... But amazing, enthralling and demanding. We all love Chan. Thanx for posting this one!
01 Dear Brother (Hank Williams cover) 02 Enough 03 Ice Water 04 Itchyhead 05 Still In Love (Hank Williams cover) 06 S Walker (This Kind of Punishment cover) 07 We All Die 08 Rockets 08 3 Times 10 ??? (Chan mentions this is a brand new song) 11 Wealthy Man
truly, madly, deeply in love for seven years now(and counting).. and still as impressed and bewildered as the first time i heard her voice.. sigh..
