  • hope the idiot has good insurance because Ambulances arent cheap plus all the other cars dumbass

  • When using lights and sirens you are asking for permission.

You have to stop at red lights then continue when clear.

You have to stop at yellow lights then continue when clear.

You should probably stop at green lights while you are at it.

I've had people run red lights when I have a green light while theyre looking in there rear view mirror for an ambulance.

What good are you if you dont get to the call or to the hospital. Youre useless and out of a job.

    Be cautious out there guys

  • and as for whomever said even if the driver of the ambulance had the lights and sirens running, if they are involved in anaccident it is they're fault? where did you get this info? i've been threw EVOC and CEVO and yes you can be found at fault if you truly are but it doesnt mean you automatically are. WOW, love monday quarterbacking. just be happy no one was seriously injured and that no one in the other accident inwhich this truck was enroute to was seriously hurt either and STFU!!!!!

  • alright, first of all to all the commenters on this, this accident occurred in Orange County, Florida (Orlando). Secondly, listen to the driver of the white car as he states what happened, the Ambulance was making its way threw the intersection when the other vehicle came flying threw and struck the truck. all of these trash talking ass hats who think the driver of the truck was f*cked and all, ohhhh you couldnt be more wrong. the driver of the vehicle that hit them was nailed thank you!!!

  • Emergency personnel where I'm from are trained to slow at red lights to ensure drivers have seen them and can stop, and I'm sure this driver was trained to do that and did so.

  • Code 3 doesn't excuse you in courts...the driver of this ambulance is FUCKED

  • come on it dont matter.. common sense is to slow to a red light. weather ur in fire truck or ems unit..

  • This definitely not from Arizona at all. However the ambulance driver is taught to drive with due regard to the public. The public on the other hand is required to yield to emergency vehicles. So the way i see it they are both at fault. I can tell you as a rural metro employee that the crew did not get off easy.

  • Doesnt matter if the ambulance is running lights and sirens it still considered their fault if they get into an accident. They werent using do regard. Ambulances dont have the right of way, they have to be given the right of way. Sad but it is the truth, people just dont pay attention.

  • I always try and make eye contact with the other drivers in the intersections to make sure they see me before going through them. But things like this still happen sometimes even when you make all the right precautions.

  • Lol 0:37

  • 1:04 Fuckin SNITCH

  • the ambulance crew also needs to take care ... they shouldnt expect everyone to stop.. its a dangerious practice... the crew should even slow down even stop to make sure all drives can see them coming

  • Looks like the frame got twisted

  • LEGALLY, USPS carriers have ULTIMATE right of way, look THAT up...Emergency personelle, nor even the police get the right of way to a mail carrier

  • @TigerBoiLSU1 sure they do. And BTW that is a myth. Some one in my vol fire company tried that line of BS on me.

  • @liberalinthedesertaz maybe where YOU live its not true, but in the State law books here, it IS listed that post carriers have the absolute right of way.

  • @TigerBoiLSU1 That's a myth

  • Kentucky ambulances are run by the local city governments - all of the ambulances have a "Kentucky Official" license plate, just like police cars and fire trucks. Some of the cities have them combined with their Fire Departments (Lexington, for example)..

  • @p38fln dunno WTF Kentucky has to do with this, that happened in Arizona, Phoenix or Scottsdale probably.

  • @p38fln Kentucky has private ambulance services too, which use regular plates. Both Rural Metro and AMR both are private services in Lexington, Lexington Fire Depts ambulances are the only government ran ones in the city.

  • I responed to that call in buffalo

  • Emergency vehicle operators in New York state have to drive with a vague term called "due regard." Basically it means is we have to clear every intersection with a (stop sign/light) when going lights and sirens. Every state is different. The amount of people that do not yield to an ambulance is staggering. Almost everytime I go hot there is at least one time I am sitting at a red light waiting for traffic. My thought is always, "I hope I am not responding to your loved ones call for help."

  • is that in knoxville tn

  • Was the Ford Taurus OK?

  • Poor Rural/Metro rig... too bad it wasn't an AMR rig!

  • @Stealthguy06 thats bullshit... to bad it was anyones rig.

  • "Emergency vehicles are still breaking the law when running lights."

No, they are not. The law gives them explicit right to go through red lights.

  • Is this in Lexington,KY ?

  • I live In buffalo, lockport NY area, the time during my accident, the ALS rural metro rig, was doing a transfer to niagara falls hospital, it wasn't anywhere near where my car crashed.

  • @2704heatherwolf sorry heather this took place in orlando fl

  • Id like to say this is in Ny state but its probably not. I remember when I had my car accident I was out on impact and ALS Rural Metro ambulance wasn't close enough to my accident scene , so I was mercy flighted instead.

  • @2704heatherwolf where are you from in nys i have a rural metro als rig station 10 mins away from me

  • DRIVER FAILS TO YIELD RIGHT OF WAY TO AMBULANCE WHILE GOING EMERGENCY TO A CAR CRASH---- HOW IRONIC !!

I think a better statement would have been "DRIVER FAILS TO EXPECT DRIVER NOT TO SEE HIM AND NOT GET OUT OF THE WAY" or "DRIVER FAILS TO EXPECT THE WORST ESPECIALLY GOING THROUGH INTERSECTION"...

  • Ambulance is at fault if they ran the red light, regardless if they had the right of way. Drive that hit them will get a fine for "not yielding" but the ambulance was still at fault... im a former EMT and thats just how it goes.

  • @TF2Glitches Maybe in your state.Goes to show how much your state laws look after your EMS.Not.

  • Emergency vehicles are still breaking the law when running lights. Its a 50/50 on me. On one side I agree that drivers need to yield and be responsible if they crash into us, on the other, they have a green light and although they may have crashed they did indeed have a green light. Here in NY we use a system where we can turn red lights at big intersections green in our favor, im sure its used elsewhere in the country as well, but that helps...

  • @TF2Glitches Our FD can turn the lights right in front of the station and the next big intersection red/green so they can turn out fast and without sirens. At red traffic lights we normally slow down, but soemtimes we can also blast through the intersection

  • there is a wonderfull tool that is called opticom it makes lights turn green.... emergency vehicles are required to slow down not come to a complete stop

  • Wow that sucks, look at the bright side, if they got hurt the paramedics are right there...

  • wot the heck happened

  • lmfao when the torus is on the roll back the bottum side of the roll back "we buy junk cars"

  • Poor Taurus, I hate seeing the Taurus's all messed up like that, their good cars.

  • dramaqueen is absolutly right...

  • to all you dumbass mother fuckers that think ambulances shouldnt have the right of way when responding i hope its you or your family that needs them and lets see how quick u are to react negatively to the response time of these people i am sure u wont be happy so fuck u scum bag ass holes

  • Man the box took it like a beast.

I work in Houston; something similar to this happened to me, except the person that hit us got uber owned.

  • And DriveCam is not used to "keep us safe", it IS used to fire us. I cannot believe that our lousy union allowed these cameras. crap representation, crap equipment.

  • @1028posse - staff where I work in Australia are pushing (with union backing) for DriveCam to be fitted in the ambulances. I'd be genuinely interested in your comments about they can used against staff.

  • @emadex i have worked for a company with drive cam........and yes they use it against you when they can. of course this was for a mickey mouse company in east texas that had ambulances with holes in the floorboard where you could see the road.....but they had money for drive cam

  • I'm a medic for RMA somewhere in NYS. I cannot say where because I will be fired. Yes, RMA's ambulances are crap.

  • Where was this? I am not a fan of RM either.

  • @Marinegreen1775

This was in Orlando, FL and I believe at the intersection of Orange Blossom Trail & Oak Ridge Road....

  • I'd like to see the DriveCam on that one

  • What's IFT?

  • Inter-facility Transport

  • oh. so like an ambulance to transport patients from one hospital to another, right? Thanks for your help!

  • typical rural metro i would never want to work for them

  • what state was this in????

  • Figures it would happen to a Rural/Metro unit. I worked for them bitches for all of 3 months. I was hired by them at a good salary, moved 200 miles for the job, was then laid off along with about 60 other medics when they went tits up and sold out. Oh well, nearly all our calls were IFT's anyway. All the equipment they had from ambulances to gear was run down so back that shit would break mid-call. Too big a company, and the little guy(s) gets left out. Assholes.

  • its quite simple, FOLLOW THE FUCKIN RULES...it sucks cause that ambulance was tryin to get to a car crash

  • Where is this located?

  • Yes in some states emergency vehicles do have the right of way. In most states however they don't. We are supposed to come to a complete stop at all intersections and stop signs, even if the light is green even if running lights and sirens. It's our responsibility to stop and make sure the intersection is clear before proceeding. I drive an ambulance and I can recall many times that an intersection was clear after stopping and someone pulls out or comes flying out of nowhere and nearly hit us.

  • @dramaqueen7995 where do you work?

  • @dramaqueen7995 You need to have sirens designed for intersections. I was approaching an intersection on my bike, I did not see or hear the ambulance until the last second. The sirens are designed to emit the sound towards the front. This is no good for intersection where the direction of traffic is perpendicular to the direction of an ambulance. I feel for you guys(professionals) but there are some real assholes driving ambulances out there.

  • @RepublicanDumbAss I totally agree with you. If I'm in my car with windows rolled up and radio going, I can't here sirens either. It would be much safer for everyone if all ambulances that opticom program that Shadowsdeath2010 was talking about. That would make my job much safer!!!

  • @dramaqueen7995 In ALL states the emergency vehicle has right of way while running code. Obviously they need to use caution when going thru a red light, but they have the right of way. NO ONE requires an emergency vehicle to come to a full stop at a green light. Please don't spread misinformation like this.

  • @Kheldarren actually where I work full time, that's 80 hours a week plus overtime,a private service in Indiana and both county services I work for part time have the same rules. It doesn't matter if I was going through a green light with lights and sirens, if I get hit it's my fault. The other driver may get cited for failure to yeild, but it's still my responsibility to stop and clear the intersection before I proceed. In ALL states Police and Fire have the right away.

  • @dramaqueen7995 I don't care about your company rules. I care about state laws. I am a reserve police officer in Indiana, so please don't presume to tell me how that works. I have a bit of a clue after 14 years. Indiana does NOT have a law requiring you to stop at a green light while running lights and siren. Your ambulance service might, but the state does NOT.

  • Comment removed

  • @Kheldarren I don't pretend to know the rules where you work. So don't pretend you know the rules where I work.

"Ambulance is at fault if they ran the red light, regardless if they had the right of way. Drive that hit them will get a fine for "not yielding" but the ambulance was still at fault... im a former EMT and thats just how it goes."

Thank you TF2Glitches at least you have some clue what you're talking about!!!

  • @dramaqueen7995 I don't pretend. They are at fault if they do not use appropriate caution when passing thru a red light. This video doesn't show the actual accident, so you don't know what happened here. I'm a reserve cop and have been for 14 years. Caution is required, but you said in another comment that you had to stop at a green light. Bull.

  • @Kheldarren

a reserve cop? is that like a mall cop?

  • @dramaqueen7995 You are right. they are suppose to stop and "allow" the intersection to "clear" and make sure that all traffic has stopped if that driver has a red light, and then "with changing the siren to a mutible type blast pattern"proceed though that intersection. I am also a E.M.T and a vollie, thats how I do it in firetruck, ambulance, and my pov that has lights and siren.

  • @Kheldarren Are you implying that you know the rules for every private, public, hospital and county ambulance service in the continental United States. If you are then you must know everything. Don't insult me when you clearly don't have any idea what your talking about. I've been a paramedic for 6 years and a volunteer FF for 5 years before that, I think I've driven an Emergency Vehicle here long enough to know the rules/laws. I've had friends loose their whole career from this same problem.

  • @dramaqueen7995 You seem to think the rules for each service are important. They are not. What matters is state laws concerning the operation of an emergency vehicle. Take an EVOC class and then act like you have a clue. I have been a reserve cop for 14 years and I think I have a bit of an idea what's going on.

Just the fact that you think some little fly-by-night ambulance company's rules are relevant to anything shows how little you know. State laws are what matter.

  • Ouch.

  • Were the emts or medics alright?

  • that kid is like an indigo child or something. He's like, yeah i almost died...it was kind of boring.

  • But, on the other end of the spectrum. I've also seen my fair share of EMS crew-members make stupid mistakes that caused a wreck. I personally have nearly been scraped or outright hit a few times because someone was not paying attention. Almost got hit by a teenage girl using her keyboard-style cellphone as a keyboard, no hands on the steering wheel at all. So, bad drivers are out there. Just gotta watch out for them and assume just about everybody is one. Alot safer that way.

  • I work for Rural/Metro and trying too drive an Ambulance can be frustrating. People do not know how too drive, be it a cellphone or otherwise. For instance, sitting in traffic you try and leave a margin of comfort with the car in front of you and some jerk merges into said comfort. Half the time wrecks are caused by people simply panicking or getting nervous when they hear and notice an ambulance running an emergency. We had one ambulance t-boned when a guy decided too run a red light.

  • it mostly depends on which state that you are in but, it's true an ambulance only is asking for the right of way. If you have an accident then the Driver of the ambulance will almost always be at fault since they did not use "due regard". Many Parameics have gone to jail for stupid stuff like this. You will always lose in civil court since it will be shown that they have more training and are "expert drivers"...EMS loses all around thats why I left it.

  • Close the door with his hand, ¡¡ monkey!!

  • Emergency Vehicles get the right of way no matter what if they are rolling priority 1

  • WRONG!! Emergency vehicles are REQUESTING the right of way!

  • sory but you are wrong. emergency vehicles get right of way. IF THEY HAVE LIGHTS AND SIRENS ON.. plus. ambulance only use lights and sirens depending on what type of call. if they dont have them on. you dont have to yeild. but fireengines always have to have them on. so you have to move cuz they are red lights. but we still do have to stop at red lights. but if a car comes with blue lights. then they are askin for promition to pass. reds are demanding it. .

  • I do not where you are, but in TN the law is "Emergency vehicles running lightds and sirens DO have the right of way, BUT only after requesting it by slowly coming to an intersection and assuring everyone is yielding......we are not to assume! Anyway it doesn't really matter...cause I am in the front right seat or in back with a patient....I do not want to assume anything....Caution is the name of the game...I want to go home to my husband at the end of my shift!

  • The guy is so cute.

  • My spouse is a paramedic on an ambulance they run full lights, sirens, the horn, the city even controls the lights to red at the intersections to no avail. Someone almost always runs the red light, flat out ignores the ambulance and even give them the finger for making them have to pull over. The paramedic in the back is not in a seat belt usually they are working on the patient keeping them stable so they often die if they are involved in a roll over. Folks gotta pay more attention.

  • Wow that is sick that someone would give an ambulance with its lights on the finger for making them pull over. Sadly though, I don't have trouble believing it. What a person like that needs is an attitude adjustment (something their parents probably didn't give them often enough). Like a pipewrench to the face or something.

  • Well, it's not always their fault. We're actually supposed to stop at all red lights and stop signs, even when running lights and sirens, and make sure people are giving us the right of way before just taking it. I don't know the specifics of this incident, though.

  • The biggest problem with doing ems is that as son as the lights and sirens go on the other drivers get stupid. Rural/Metro has become very proactive with the driving problems that the company has had. Quick tip

, If you seen an emergency vehicle coming, Slowly pull over and let them pass.

  • Slowly pull over TO THE RIGHT, heh dont forget to pass that along. When i run lights and sirens alot of people just stop in the left lane or they pull over to the left, partially blocking the roadway.

  • THE IRONY

  • Ambulance driver must allow others to make mistakes, NOT hear the siren or see the emergency lights until too late.

Most drivers are wonderful and try to help the ambulance.

You have a green signal and your radio and heater on.

You are not expecting and may not hear a siren.

[A little sound close to your ears is far louder than a powerful siren outside at a distance.]

Plus many women, especially Blacks, may panic and "freeze" and not properly react.

Yelp tends to panic some people.

  • sad thing is, with current laws I'm sure the ambo driver was at fault no matter what :-(

  • CAAS certified ambulance too. Whoops

  • There's something you don't see every day.

Well, at least he can get a decent car now.

  • gotta agree with you there the taurus is an awful car

  • gets ya where u need 2 be tho

  • Bad driver AMBULANCES need to go more school

  • In Ky you "shall give right-of-way"

That means you legally have to.

The law is KRS 189.930. The statute is online on the official state site. Google it :)

Up to $500 fine, 30 days in jail or both.

Thank you, have a nice day, and pull the fuck over :)

  • Give the right of way but ambulances, Fire trucks, etc can not blast thru a red light hoping for right of way...

  • Well, an ambulance isn't Federal, they are owned by private companys like Falon or Trinity.

Unlike a police car or fire truck.

They are giving a Request for you to move.

But smart people know its good to move.

Thank you, and don't write like this.

  • @FalloutZombie2010 That's not accurate. Ambulance rescue services are provided privately in some areas, but by local municipality in some areas. I live in Birmingham, and both exist here.

  • @CoolDre80 in Tn you are guaranteed everything but the absolute "Right of Way". You must drive in due regard to the safety of others. Ain't nothing as stupid as someone driving a hundred miles per hr wearing a pair of Oakley's to get to a call that wasn't worth driving the speed limit to. Yeah, you know the calls? Surely you have had EVOC?

  • is this in lexington ky?

  • there was an ambulance that got into an accident that was going to another accident involving another ambulance that was going to another crash

  • man that sucks...an the driver didnt see/hear the sirens???? he needs to check his hearing..I see lights before i hear em..then I pull over...

  • Problem is, if you are coming up on a red light with l/s, you are requesting right of way. Our company policy is to come to a complete stop at each and every red light we come up to. Stop signs too. In Michigan, emergency vehicles can be found negligent in many circumstances. Running a red light saves 2-4 seconds. Not running it and stopping saves an insurance deductible and civil suit.

  • oh and the medic that was in the passenger seat - suffered a career ending shoulder injury... otherwise everyone was fine

  • This was in Orlando Fl. I work the this organization and I happen to have been working the night of this crash. The driver did everything right. Cleared one lane at a time. This is a large intersection with right turn lanes in all directions. The person that initially hit the ambulance was going straight in the turn lane. The vehicle that was in the far right straight lane was a tractor trailer and blocked the view of the ambulance clearing the intersection to respond to an emergency call.

  • this isn't syracuse...R/M CNY's rigs say Rural metro medical services , not rural metro ambulance

  • IRONIC!!!!

  • that cant be in syracus cause the police car had red and blue on its roof for warnin lights in nys all cops have red to thre front and red and blue 2 the rear

  • was this taken in syracuse, ny?

  • All vehicles with lights and sirens use them as a courtesy, including police vehicles that are not on an active car chase or car pullover. Lights and sirens legally have no warrant over other drivers as far as getting them to pullover unless the above two reasons as per police squad cars.

This pertains at least to the state of NY, NJ, PA, and CT.

  • hey dumb*** normally im not like this but ur pretty d*** ingnorant arent you ok no lights unless its a car chase "Theres a guy Shooting in the school yard""sorry ma'am we cant use are lights theres no car involved"

  • "TheNoh", you're an idiot...

  • Actually, it's the law that you MUST yield to an emergency vehicle, police, ambulance, or fire. In fact in NJ, if you do not yield to even a Volunteer firefighter or EMT running a blue light that is considered failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and can get you a $500 fine in the mail. The blue light is no longer a courtesy light in New Jersey.

    asshole

  • they can't give you a ticket unless they know who you're. As such, unless it's a cop i will always refuse request to yield. That means, i will not let them pass and they can try to ticket me all they want as they can't...they need to know the driver of the vehicle being that ticket is issued to the driver and not the car.

  • great thinking ylen13... maybe someday you will be dying in an ambulance and people will "refuse request to yeild"..... btw it is you are not you're. dumbass.

  • hey asshole im an emt and i can only pray that when your mother or father or wife and children are in need of an ambulance they dont have a prick like you in front of the ambulance making it take longer to get there for them seconds count dick

  • Hahaha...is that the best you can come up? An ambulance is asking request motorist permission to go through red light...unless police is around i can't get ticket for refusing that request.

  • Actually, yeah. That's Driver's training 101. The Siren is a request for the right of way which, in some places, you must comply with. In Kentucky a Motorist doesn't have to give the right of way, but if the Ambulance feels they are deliberately blocking them they can call in your plates and a ticket could possibly be mailed.

  • The ticket likely will not be issued. The main reason is that such ticket is issued to the driver of the vehicle and not the vehicle register owner(unlike parking tickets). As such, police would not be able to issue the ticket unless they witness this incident, pulled over the vehicle and got the driver driver licenses in order to issue the ticket.

  • I wish I worked ambulance where you are. Just on the off chance I have to respond to someone you care about. Then, when you get to the hospital and find that they died as a result of the emergency crews not getting there fast enough, I can point to you and say "there's one of the douchebags that wouldn't pull over and let us go around".

  • @ABEMT1985 I aggree! When i used to be on the ground unit... i would sometimes be very angry at drivers by the time i got to the call.. I am now a Flight Medic.... CCP training is what i got...

  • well ylen13, you might think you are really smart, but if you do not pull over for me as i am trying to save someone, i will be calling in your licence plate number, and since u won't be letting me pass, it won't be hard for the cops to spot you, as you will be the big prick holding up the big white ambulance....hard to miss!!! Dumb fuck!

  • And what if that Ambulance was rushing to save the life of someone you cared about... would that give you enough reason to let it past... you dumb arrogant f*ckwit

  • You're a stupid prick.

  • you are wrong, they can and will issue the regestered owner of the vehicle and it will be the owners responsiblity to prove it wasn't them, how do you think they do the red light camera tickets.

  • Wrong, all you have to do is tell the court it wasn't your driving. I should know i done it before. It's not owner responsibility to id the driver but nice try. You're welcome to try again.

  • think of the bright side!!! the ambulance has arrived, your alive and your crappy ford taurus is a total loss!

  • Well if the Ambulance had a red light the Ambulance driver would be at fault. Having lights and siren doesn't mean the cars HAVE to yield, it's just asking them to. The only thing those lights guarantee is that you can park in a no parking zone.

  • Not true, it is an emergency vehicle. It has a right to plow through traffic if it wanted for the sake of others lives. Morons who think "We don't have to get out of it's way, it's just polite if we do." deserve to get hit. =)

  • Actually what I said was 100% right, what you said is not true. I just took my recertification exam for my EMT and one of the things on the test was about the fact that ambulances, fire trucks, intercept paramedic vehicles and basically any thing except a police car are only asking for the right of way by turning on the lights and sirens. Those who said ambulances had the right of way got it wrong. Drive with due regard or else you will be booked for an accident.

  • I posted on here earlier regarding ROW to emergency vehicles. I looked up the traffic laws of 38 different states. Each one said the same thing: Vehicles MUST yeild the right of way for an emergency vehicle aproaching from ANY direction that is using it's WARNING devices. Emergency personnel are required to drive with due care and attention to ensure each vehicle has seen and/or heard them. If you see lights and hear sirens and don't pull over, you are BREAKING THE LAW!

  • Well, I don't care what your research popped up with. A question regarding this issue was on my EMT national exam, people who said that the ambulance has the right of way got it wrong.

  • I agree OneSkiWonder. I have drove thousands of miles code 3 for an ambulance company in NY. They teach us that the driver of an emergency vehicle is 100% responsible, especially at an intersection! Even going lights and siren the driver of the ambulance is required to go through an intersection with cation and is at least in part responsible. You can not assume everyone will see you and/or hear you coming.

  • At least now I know someone on youtube has some sense on this subject and actually has experience in the subject rather then looking it up off the web and using that as legit information.

  • He did source the info and that trumps your test.

  • well obviously, thats just them telling you to actually drive instead of just flooring it along a straight road....

  • You are supposed to drive with caution, assuming others are not going to yield.

But the law does state the EV's have the right of way when running code.

  • hey say that to scare you, I can say as an attorney that no one is 100% at fault in an accident, just a certain percentage. Just because it is the correct answer on a test does not mean that it is true. Most authors of test for a profession are often ignorant of subject material outside of the main topic of the course. They may be a great MD or EMT but they are not a DOT officer.

  • wow...looks like a lot of "jolly-vollie's" on this posting...listen you idiots, when you are responding to an emergency you also have the responsibility of maintaining the safety of the community you are blowing through...or didnt they teach that in EVOC class? you guys posting here did take EVOC, right? It is the emergency responders responsibility to operate their vehicle safely...even if there are moron drivers in cars out there...if you have the lights and sirens you are responsible.

  • learn how to fucking drive

  • Sounds like how the FD around me drives. They rarely slow at reds...of course..that's what that other light on there is fore, good old Opticom, never works. lol

  • all i gotta say is leave it to Rural Metro...but i am sure their overstacked management team blamed the crew so they could make some extra money since in most places they are losing money

  • agreed from 817wjfd

  • lol leave it to rural metro to fuck something up

  • Ambulances are supposed to *stop* at red lights. The lights and sirens are basically permission for right of way. Furthermore, if you pass on the right and get tagged, it's the fault of the person driving the ambulance, not the driver that hits them. At least that's how it is in the great state of WA.

Remember, you cant help others if others are having to help you.

  • Rememer theres a fuckign dieng person and there are selfish people out there who have the time to go out of there way see a blue light let them get on there ass and call and complain. We stop what were doing to save lifes but then have people out there playign games purpsley trying to start a problem.

  • It's a good think this didn't happen at the Louisville Ky. office. If it did Chris Kasoulis and Derrick Riddle would do all they could to blame it on the crew driving the ambulance. That way they could get out of paying any wages or dissability to the employees.

  • first of citzen complain when emergency vehicles are not responding quick enough how can they when stupid vehicles wont get out there way an when something happen to them then they want all the help they can get if u ask me they shouldnt becuase how can u not get out of an emergency vehicle way life or death situation if u want them to respond quickly move the fuck out the way its not hard to pull the fuking vehicle over or recieve a fuking ticket or go to jail one or the other

  • in alabama emergency vehicles are suppose to follow all the traffic laws as other drivers. there are too many wrecks because paramedics get too excited and speed.

  • And that is why I'm glad I live in California.

  • i disagree of what u are saying there are many wecks becuase driver refuse to stop for emergency vechicles they try to resonpond quickly as possible but if people dont get out they way an stop an pull over like in driver ed teaches you of curse then its going to be a lot more accedent for example just yest july 9 2008 a cop car had lights an siren on an responding to shots fired a car went straight through an i pulled that car over an issued him a ticket for failing to yeild to an emergency car

  • woah woah woah.

Use commas and periods, next time XD

  • I am a Vol. Firefighter in Arkansas and we have a Move Over Law and Volunteers are restricted to 10 mph over and thats it. Now as for the ambulance driver he should have used caution, but the driver whom he hit should have paid attention also.

  • Put that driver who didn't give a way for the ambulance on the same ambulance, to see what it is like not to reach on time to hospital because of dumb drivers.

  • Amen, dude. They have lights and sirens not to make it look cool, it's for EMERGENCIES, repeat, EMERGENCIES!

    Thy definition is...

An emergency is a situation which poses an immediate risk to health, life, property or environment.[1] Most emergencies require urgent intervention to prevent a worsening of the situation, although in some situations, mitigation may not be possible and agencies may only be able to offer palliative care for the aftermath.

  • a fire fighter over here died on a way to a 911 at the prison to an ill victim he was speeding and a semi cut him off and then the rescue went rolling. Ever since then New Mexico laws are go 10 miles above the speed limit no more then that he was going 35 miles over the speed limit

  • Rural Metro runs Paramedic Ambulance Prince... Do research

  • Where is this? It looks like Lexington KY!

  • Its Orlando, Floirda..

  • The last thing you want on an emergency run is wreck. The law says 'pull to the right and stop' but when was the last time you heard of the law being enforced? Intersections are the biggest problems, don't go across till you really see that it is clear. Some think it is safer to stop at all signs and lights (Mass. law says this), but I go by 'seeing', not routine. If you want maximum safety, shut off the lights and siren. It will take longer, but it is 'safer'.

  • People need to understand "do regard and safety for all others". This means that all emergency vehicles have the right to violate traffic laws while respoding to an emergency or the hospital with a critical patient. This means if an accident occurs the investigators will determine if it is the fault of the person driving the ambulance responding (without) due regard and safety or the driver of the other vehicle that did not yield the right of way to the emergency vehicle. 17 year Paramedic.
