I saw The Who about a month after Entwhistle died. The Who did not give a fart, they toured with another bassist. And Entwhistle was a great bassist, but the show did not suffer, almost as good without him. So while I would rather have Michael Anthony on bass, Eddies son is capable of keeping up and not screwing it up.

And guys like geddy lee, les claypool, flea (red hot chili peppers), victor wooten aren't around every corner dude. Look their solos up on youtube. As for VH, Mike's back up voice was a big part of VH and it isn't there any more. So to me they don't really sound as much like VH use to.

This band has always fascinated me (the Roth era....after that, the band tanked). Here you have one of the absolute greatest electric guitar players. And within the same 4-piece band is one of the absolute WORST drummers. The guy can't even keep proper time. But....his brother is the leader of the band, so I guess he stays
I grew up with this music and to me, at least, Eddie and Dave are Van Halen. As far as Michael Anthony is concerned, allow me to paraphrase John Lennon when asked if Ringo was the best drummer in the world and say that Michael Anthony wasn't even the best bassist in Van Halen. I'll add my voice to those saying that they're disappointed that MA isn't with the band anymore, but Wolfgang fills his shoes nicely. Can't wait for Feb 28th at MSG.

@hummarstra Dave never sang like he sounded on the album. But compare this one to live versions from the 70-80s and you'll see that they sound even better today. DLR has cut down (a bit) on the clowning around and more focused on singing all the lyrics.
They were firing on all cylinders on the last leg of the tour. Eff the haters. Hope they finally get back out on the road in 2012 with new material in their arsenal.

@hummarstra Dave never sang like he sounded on the album. But compare this one to live versions from the 70-80s and you'll see that they sound even better today. DLR has cut down (a bit) on the clowning around and more focused on singing all the lyrics.

I LOVE VH but Wolfgang is such an overweight eye sore w zero personality & stage presence. Michael Anthony's vocal harmonies are irreplaceable in this band.
The WORST thing Ed ever did was boot Mikey out of the band. He's still a huge prick in my book for that.

@LightEmUp1. I pretty much agree with everything you said. I'm sure Wolf will turn it up a few notches when they decide to tour, hopefully next year, but you just can't replace Mike, period. Not with anyone. I still can't wait to hear their new stuff, though. Ed is still the King, as far as I'm concerned. That will never change.

She was a music teacher and a pillar of the community who bettered the lives of many with her work and her love of music. Given the chance, I think most guys would like to have their son in the band. I think Mike his keeping himself busy and not losing too much sleep over it.
