the euro4 ISC engine is worlds apart from the L10, much higher revving hence the thrash value altho the L10 was itself a monster compared to the aged Gardner
@bearchoirfan But it all depends on the gearbox, exhaust system, engine mounting, etc. It is very hard to say that the same sound can be produced.
I do think an ISL would be better, but the torque from ISL and ISM is simply too large for this Metrobus.
For your reference, the original Gardner engine of this bus only got around 910Nm of torque with 220 horsepower, but an ISL has at least 1060Nm of torque. The chassis needs to be strengthened before it can withstand the increased torque.
In Glasgow we used to have a fleet of around 70 metrobuses all from possil depot (now closed). Two of them were Cummins L10 and they were numbered MB44 & 45 (built around 1984). MB44 sounded identical to the bus in this vid and it was like a rocket and could accelarate up steep hills, the lot. A real wolf in sheeps clothing compared to the B10M's that were kicking around in the city at the time.
What a beast with a higher revving Cummins engine, Voith Clunks and screams. The old 6LXCT discarded from under the bonnet would only rev to 1900rpm. Some Cummins L10 examples were used in service back in the UK.
This old model Voith gearbox always thunk boom at final drive. It hates final drive like its saying in gearbox language fine than !! Kick Clunk.

@295route it's the ISBE that has 6.7 L of displacement
The ISC has 8.3 L

@LN6618 So using the 6CT as in the Lance would produce the same sound as in the video?
P.S. To fit the bus design the ISL or ISM is what that's really needed.
