@capitalismforme Chubby took credit for being a co-writer of this song but only because the true writer or writers Ervin and Gordon Rouse let him (and then they died, God bless them).
When I was young, about 13,14 years old and I was just starting off playing the fiddle, I got a chance to go to Hugo Oklahoma to a festival there. Well I got to jamming with a group and an old gentleman came up and stood by me a bit then walked off. He returned with a fiddle, now keep in mind I had no idea who this man was. Well he got right beside me and started playing with me, and I was so amazed to hear the sounds coming from thus fiddle! It was he was actually making it speak! After a whil
@hcr1248 I also met Chubby in Hugo. Had a friend who's grandfather was barber in Antlers , OK. Was up there visiting and decided to go to festival. I was messing around playing Bob Wills and I met Chubby. He was a wonderful man. He was not the best player I ever worked with by a long shot. Benny Thommason, the Morris boys etc had more licks. But no one was better at his style and no one was more loved by the crowds. He spent time as you described to pass on what he had helped create. Love Him!
like the man said rocky mount fayetville winston salem and all points north i could almost swear i smelled the coal smoke great video have a great day
i love the way chubby plays he is a great fiddle player and dose a great job on orange blossom but it is no secret that he learned alot from ervin t rouse and thats ok but we all know that he took credit for a song he did not wright or even cowright that being said i still think he was a great bluegrass fiddler i respect that
@Chubbyfan100 Chubby was a wonderful fiddler - but Ervin Rouse copywrited the Orange Blossom Special in 1939 - It was based on an earlier tune that Rouse also wrote. It's well documented that Chubby didn't co-rwrite it. I still love Chubby and all he did for bluegrass though! Chubby did for bluegrass fiddle what Scruggs did for banjo and Monroe did for mandolin! Chubby WAS bluegrass fiddle!!
Great playing - thanks for uploading -.Thumbs up and favourited.
Best Wishes David

He does sound great but the true master at this song is the one who wrote it, and that would be the man himself Ervin T. Rouse

@Chubbyfan100 Chubby was not the co-author of this song... he just capitalized on it.

@Chubbyfan100 Nope, I have documents that prove Chubby was not a co-writer of this song. No biggy though.

thanks for the comment,
the "father" of orange is ervin and chubby the
cowriter.chubby played the song as first .bill
monroe in 1942 and johnny cash in the 60er.
johhny cash`s version is good but chubby`s
orange is for me the original and best version
from orange blossom special.
