  • Mary's beautiful flowing hair put all the Breck Girls to shame. only us old folks know about that.

  • @vettefool

    LOL I remember the Breck Girls quite well and I agree! ( I am an old (er) fart ).

    All had lovely straight hair, but Mary's does indeed put them all to shame !

  • @vettefool Hey, I remember the Breck girls, been a long time since I thought about that! And you're right, Mary's hair and everything else about her was magic.

  • @vettefool weren't the Breck Girls Kerry and Edwards?

  • @vettefool OH I LOVED HER HAIR, HER TOES, HER EYES, HER COURAGEOUS VOICE, HER UNDYING SPIRIT, HER SWEETNESS, HER TIME SHE GAVE TO US ON THIS EARTH. AND I MISS HER SO MUCH

  • The Bell Telephone Hour??? just a guess..

  • wow i searched 8 mins on this song! Looks like everybody sang this (but this version is still the best!!!!!!!!)

  • I heard them do this at Ole Miss several times.

  • So much meaning in this song.

  • GET THOSE HACKERS!

  • Thor brought me here

  • The moral dilemmas that peace activists of the 60s faced, begin to resolve themselves once you begin to implode the desire to hate others into the noble intention of symbolically rooting out hatred itself. Weed Out Hate is a grass roots inititative that can give peace a chance by asking each of us to take responsibiliity to hammer out hatred by symbolically removing our inner weeds. Through this symbolic act, we can send a signal throughout the heavens that we shall overcome.

  • Sweet Jesus, she was so magical. like the times.

  • Sam Cooke does a great live version of this song on his live album Sam Cooke: At the Copa. Definitely worth a listen!

  • Sam Cooke does a great live version of this song on his live album Sam Cooke: At the Copa. Definitely worth a listen!

  • It's September 11, 2011 & I wanted to hear this song today especially. The promise of the 60's social activism is still alive & we need to work for "love between my brothers & my sisters" more than ever. Maybe we can make a special effort in memory of those who perished 10 years ago in act of terror. What can we do? An especially easy way is to just interact w/ others (family, friends, co-workers, strangers) with RESPECT, especially the precious children among us. PEACE & LOVE TO ALL.

  • we miss you  MARY

  • Mary was every young boys crush, and probably the reason i need glasses today. lol

  • Who the heck "disliked"?????

  • I love you for this

  • @zzompi,

    :-) Aaaaaawwww. LOL. That is nice !

    I love this music !

  • @cschoon1213 This is NOT even close to the recording from 1963 Festival

  • @cschoon1213 Lyssna på inspelningen från Newport Festival 1963. Det är engagemang! Listnen to the recording from Newport Festival 1963! THAT is engagement!

  • Beautiful Mary sings like an angel!

  • If they don't use this song in the "Thor" soundtrack, then they FUCKED UP.

  • From which TV show was this performance taken?

  • @ karatattoo,

    I am embarrassed to say that I don't recall which program this was from.

    Sorry !

  • @karatattoo It looks to me as though it is "Tonight in Person" But I may be wrong but that is my best bet.

  • @karatattoo

    Just noticed your question. I believe, if memory serves, it was from The Jack Benny Show.

  • Comment removed

  • @karatattoo

    63 Grammy's I believe

  • RIP Mary :)

  • Songs today just don't have the same message or passion! Forget about even comparing the talent and timeless melodies! Really miss them!

  • Wow I've never seen a video with that many likes and no dislikes!

  • @ njamesburns,

    Yeah!

    99 to 0

    That is pretty good!

    Almost 100% FOR them !

    Cool.

  • @cschoon1213

    or at least it was like that. but I blame all the people who listen to all those songs with rappers or cussing.

  • @njamesburns This is from the age of protest. The time of the Vietnam war.

  • Peter, Paul and Mary are awesome. Music today sucks.

  • Today, there are "fresh" riots across the Atlantic. More struggles for respect and freedom, too long denied. At the risk of sounding corny, I needed to hear this uplifting tribute to love, freedom and brotherhood. I hope many of you are sharing these life affirming songs with your children and grandchildren. Peace & Love, Bread & Justice.

  • @ mjcamck71,

    I appreciate your comments and agree with them whole heartedly.

    Love, freedom and brotherhood is not corny !!!

    It is life itself !!!

    SMILES and PEACE ~~~ Chuck S

    :-)

  • @cschoon1213 - Yes, you're right. Thank you for posting and replying. I do believe that, someday, peace and joy will prevail. Thank you.

  • Love this song, Love PP&M, what's with Mary's claw hand !

  • @ Tegzee,

    LOL.

    Mary is a giant crab in disguise !

  • wow I stand and applaud that

  • The best song ever...This is music and not that hip hop, rap shit

  • @Minnan1

    i am from this century (i am a late ninties baby born in the year of '94) but as much as i like the music we have today we dont have instrumental poetry anymore. thats really what this is. even up into the 80's and the 90's rockers and popers still sung out there troubles and feelings. hip-hop has its classic run in the 70's. today its just mass produced for the small children that want it.

  • @PrincessTinkerbells 100% Agree with you.I was born in 94 and enjoy today's music but none of it has the beauty that this song does.

  • hey greywolf760, why werent you in Vietnam with your brothers and sisters? or were you too afraid to "hammer out freedom"?

  • " Rob Peter, to pay Paul, to see Mary " Poor Paul. May Peter and Mary remember their Journey with out him.

  • So moving.....I can't express it in English....i když tahle písnička měla spoustu interpretů, tak jejich verze je tak opravdová...upřímná...jako kdyby to nezpívali jen pro publikum, ale pro celej svět...

  • LOL . That is funny!

    I do not know Czech but whatever you said, I AGREE ! ha ha ha.

    ~~~ Chuck  :-) ( SMILES )
  • @Eleeshebat totally agree. such a universal song that any culture can understand and love
  • @Eleeshebat what are you saying?
  • @Eleeshebat thumbs up mate! dunno what you said, but it must be good
  • She was a real original. A look and style all her own. Just f----g cool.
  • Great video!
  • Loved you Mary. Was there with you at the Viet Nam Protests, the Civil Rights Marches and the Migrant workers strikes. Sing to the Angels and wait for all those who loved you dearly. Goodnight sweet Mary. Will miss you terribly.
  • That must have been great to experience that. I was too young to have been to the Nam protests and the Civil Rights Marches but my heart has been with them all along anyway. ~~~ Chuck
  • I was sick at heart when I heard of her death. I cried when I found out. She was and still is a wonderful and beautiful person. God be with her.
  • Vale Mary Travers.  The whole world loved you.
