  • Let's just respect the subjectivity of music! "I'm not saying 'Electioneering' is the best song on the album, but (still, a big claim!) it's certainly the most badass. It's lyrically everything we want to do - bursts of concrete imagery... OK Computer is the single most important album to be released during my youth and that it was a rite of passage. But that really is the truth and I have never had an emotional connection with an album quite like I have with this one" -Cold War Kids front-man

  • I would say if this cover is good or not, but you probably dont give a shit about my opinion.

  • Of course the guy uploading this video would like this dreadful cover over the classic original off of one of the most influential albums of all time.

  • This is a good cover, don't get me wrong, but it's kind of like an opposite version of the original. Which is good, but I wish it had some guitar or more energy. Maybe a faster pace.

  • The music in this sounds like "Too Afraid to Love You" by The Black Keys.

  • wow this really sucks. Easy star all star version is 100 times better.

  • Epic.

  • I LOVE his voice byt... most of the time he's out of key. Such a shame!! GRRR!!

  • This cover is terrible. It defeats the purpose of the song and it sounds like shit.

  • One of the best and fast paced songs off OK computer, electioneering is so underrated.

  • Ugh this is the worst song off OK Computer...why would they cover it? This guy has a pretty good voice, but the band sucks at writing.

  • @lukepleaseshutup lol, worst song off OK Computer?? The entire record is AMAZING. You imbecile, be gone.

  • @Metroid00x You could make the case that this is the worst song of OKC, but one of the worst songs off of a classic album is still way better than any song the Cold War Kids have created.

  • this cover is just mindblowingly different from the original. i'm not sure. however i will persist in listening to it more. fair play to cwk for doing it tho. viva la difference!

  • I like Cold War Kids but this is a fucking horrible version of this song.

  • pretty cool actually, the original ain't radiohead's best song tho

  • Loved it. It has a cool field blues soul holler feel to it

  • The singer's really spot on, but where's the guitar? where's the bass? hell, where's everything that made the original sound good?

  • what the eff...

  • Great original stuff but not digging this cover. Just a really weird mix.

  • You didnt win, i don't actually give a shit what pitchfork says, most people will have more respect for a large website dedicated to music than one person like myself. The original meaning of indie was about being signed by and indie label, but incase you didnt know meaning has changed into a genre of music. And fuck, if you really want to listen to some shit like CWK over Radiohead, that's your loss. of course i dont train 7 days a week, & i dont give a shit if you do. 1 king hit & you're gone.

  • @l1is1the1coolest so now you don't care what pitchfork says! and the only reason why its now a genera cause little fags like all these emo, screamo, scene teens tried to make the new main stream indie and called it a genera.and i WISH YOU COULD TRY THIS KING HIT ON ME you shaolin monk lol

  • @TheRiteOne100 no i don't care what pitchfork says. but when one album is 10/10 and another is 5/10, don't you think that's saying something? or don't you understand maths? every respectable music critic has a very, very positive comment for OK Computer. & nor do i care that you think you're a martial arts freak, you are obviously a shallow "muso" who can't tell that this song is absolute bullshit compared to the original. & its genre not genera. you should know that, "muso". 1 king hit, served.

  • @l1is1the1coolest of course you care what pitch fork say you keep on saying it fool and like i said im a music major so i understand MATHS.lol and what the hell does muso mean

  • no, i don't care what pitchfork says. they just happen to be on my side of this argument. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT? seeing as you don't get maths i'll just let you in on a little secret; 10 is bigger than 5. and muso is a musician. and seriously, listen to cwk if you want, i'll listen to radiohead. you'll be the one missing out.

  • @l1is1the1coolest MATHS?! WHAT IS THIS MATHS YOU SPEAK OF?!

  • @shaolinkin Numbers'n'shit.

  • this is better than any radio head song at all and one of my favorite cold war kids songs they have done

  • @TheRiteOne100 Haha sucks to be a dumbshit like you.

  • @l1is1the1coolest you have no clue what music even is you pussy talk shit from a computer im a music major i think i know what im talking about and if you are a musician i doubt your a good one and even go to school for it you think by knowing a couple of chords or a riff thats good enough to actually have an opinion

  • @TheRiteOne100 So you call me a pussy and then complain that I talk shit from behind a computer? Well, Michael, judging by this and your inability to realise that Radiohead's original is actually much better, I would have to say that you are one of the largest morons I've come across on the internet, ever. Check Pitchfork and you'll see all of Radiohead's albums are above 9/10, while "CWK"'s albums can only muster a 5/10. All there is to this cover is a drum beat and voice. You twat.

  • @l1is1the1coolest again, im not sheep whats your opinion so if cwk had 9/10 you would be on their nuts you like what people tell you to like.....well in order for their to be people like my self their has to be dumb asses like you or everyone would be coo.l and yes a pussy cause if i was in front of you i could almost guarantee you wouldn't be calling anyone a dumbshit i promise you that kid

  • @TheRiteOne100 Radiohead aren't exactly mainstream, and they are critically acclaimed for good reason. A follower of Radiohead certainly isn't a sheep. You're a follower of CWK, a modern shit indie-rock band, that's definitely more of a sheepish band to follow. Fuck. It's clear you're a "music major" because your English is horrible. And yeah, I would call you a dumb shit to your face. You have no idea who I am, and I'm of a much larger build than you, I saw your videos, KID.

  • @l1is1the1coolest listen and learn neither one of these bands are indie you cant be on a major record label and be indie its called low fi. dude i will #%$@ you up i train 5 days a week in muay thai enough said radio what a sheepish band i honestly think you know nothing about indie rock do you i live 30 min away from San Francisco all i do is go to shows and festivals and you live in Australia (probably hot chicks)but no San Francisco im in the middle of it all so whos opinion is more valid

  • @TheRiteOne100 Radiohead independently released their last album, and yes you can be on a major record label and your music can still be defined as "indie". I train 7 days a week in Shaolin Kung Fu, so watch out, buddy. I don't really give a shit about indie rock anyway, I've heard it all and most of its bland colourless crap. Who's opinion is more valid on what here anyway? Maybe the guys at pitchfork opinion's more valid than both of us when they say Radiohead are a 10/10 band. (CWK 5/10)tutut

  • @l1is1the1coolest no you cant be on a major record label and be called indie thats the whole point of indie and sure you train 7 days a week lol your a geek who waits to start shit with people on the Internet and bro again fuck what they sell you 10/10 5/10 bull shit i don't form my personal opinion on what some one wrote in an article can you come up with anything better than what pitchfork said i think i just won this one

  • If your gonna cover a band as talented and legendary as Radiohead, you better do a better job than this. Not completely awful, but doesn't even compare. C for effort.

  • yeah this is like a chain-gang version. captures something primal and sparse, like he's singing to stay alive. the radiohead version just melts my face off though. so fucking good. what rock music should be.

  • not as god as the original, but a solid cover. i love his voice

  • kinda like a slave ship song. it's all about the melody. the words

  • This cover is crap.

  • well..... fuck..... this is an awesome cover by an awesome band of an awesome song by an awesome band

  • its different but if you listen to the whole album (Stereogum Presents... OKX) it fits well and is better enjoyed.

  • I heard the original for the first time in months a few hours ago, and I'd say I like this one more but they're two completely different songs really. Both are great songs I'm glad to have heard.

  • @shaolinkin This is really good. I just am too much of a radiohead fanboy to let go of that song.

  • @L337wizard you're also too much of a winner, OBVIOUSLY

  • @shaolinkin ok well watch electioneering live on Letterman and that might change your mind

  • @EepiczombieE honestly no, you just need to be more open minded, they are both amazing

  • @EepiczombieE I disagree by a lot. The radiohead version is 500x better

  • i thought it was actually a pretty interesting cover. very good.

  • this is one of my favourite radiohead covers. so good.

  • I like this. It's not like CWK covered Creep or Karma Police, and they also kind of made it their own. I respect that.

  • @PunkFictionProdction

Made it their own? Stick to making your own songs. Stay in your lane. Don't fuck with classic songs off of classic albums unless you are really gonna add something to it that wasn't there to begin with. This is just garbage. They took one of RHs best 'rock' songs and made it sound like it was recorded in a garage. It would maybe be ok if the dude's voice didn't sound like someone scraping their nails along a chalkboard.

  • @bombast07 Once you reach an age where you realize that your opinion is not objective but actually subjective maybe I'll debate you.

And telling an artist to 'stick to making their own songs' is an incredibly stupid concept. If someone told gave Thom Yorke that advice, every single Radiohead album would sound like Pablo Honey.

  • @PunkFictionProdction It's not my fault that this band covered a song and made it sound like a dying dog howling the night away locked inside a barn.

  • As much as I love CWKs, this cover doesn't really catch the energy radiohead did, and the piano in the background is so subtle you can't here it.

  • Thats the beauty of it. THis cover sounds like something you'd hear some disgruntled employees in a factory sing amid their woes.

  • @shaolinkin

Damnit, I accidentally disagreed with this statement. I meant to agree.

  • ok...I followed the youtube stream here today, and after hearing these two covers (Sam Cooke & Radiohead) I must admit that, while I was never too impressed with this band, I am on the verge of writing them off as pure sheee-ite! I mean, I am sorry to their fans, but these covers are just horrendous...and, I thinm it is a bad thing to have put the emphasis on the guys voice, as it is scratchy and schrill...that kind of voice works for one thing basically......their original music.

  • They've got an interesting ability to recreate a similar feeling in a manner unlike the original of both of the covers they've done that I have uploaded. And if you're a fan of Thom's voice, I'd imagine you'd have some capacity for a strange wail of a voice thats not like some traditional voice.

  • I think that its better with a guitar... or two ;D

  • This is the best Radiohead cover in existence. Vocals are amazing, done in a terrific Radiohead style, and carry themselves without the need of auto tuners nor overdriven guitars. The beat is erotic and sensual and it is amazing how much there is going on with just vocals and percussion. This cover achieves greatness.

  • well said. gotta love CWK's style of songs even when they're not their own.

  • The worst Radiohead cover in existence. Vocals are pathetic, beat is way too slow and there's nothing going on. Sounds like they've snorted a heck load of coke and thought they could achieve greatness. EPIC FAIL.

  • let's not be faggots here douche. Cold war kids achieve radiohead's minimalist attitude, and most importantly it does what a cover should. Gives credit to original artists, puts a spin on it. A fuckin great one this time round.

  • I agree with the minimalist attitude but varying what they used couldn't have gone a miss. I'll think you find that straight people have opinions as well. It's amazing isn't it! Anyways, I see your point as it does give some sort of credit in the fact that its an honour to have anyone to want to cover one of your tracks.

  • sounds like you snorted a bunch of stupid and speed causing you to need to be fucking hyped up by a song or something. its sung beautifully by a dude with a great voice full of emotion. go fuck your self while playing the original bro. I'm sure you'll get a rush out of that...if not...at least you get to fuck a retard and not go to jail or anything since you'll be fucking your own dumbass.

  • Haha. Snorting a bunch of stupid. Good phrase. I see your point, the track does start off well but it just goes nowhere. Just a bit of an anticlimax. The drums just irritate me. You don't need epic amounts of instruments for a good track, I agree but varying the beat could have won it for me. By the way, just because someone has a different opinion doesn't mean that fuck retards. If you believe that then doesn't that mean you fuck retards? I didn't think so.

  • Why does there have to be a climax though? The song places emphasis on the singing which in itself is so filled with emotion that the song becomes a Capella plus percussion and a brilliantly played bass about midway that makes it an even more devious song,,,as if thom's lyrics about misleading politicians weren't enough.

  • where were the bass and guitars that day????? it could grow on me????

  • i should hope it grows on you. god forbid a band do something different when they cover a song.

  • i do quite like it, but its just surprising (which i guess is a good thing)

  • yea i wasn't expecting anything like this the first time i heard it either. its so damn different though and well crafted.

  • Just because a band does something different, which I agree is what they SHOULD do otherwise its pointless, doesn't mean its going to be good. Grudgingly.
