When me and my brother connected to each other to test the link to make sure it worked that went smooth. We tried linking up in-game with Pokemon Leaf Green/Fire Red and it made the VBAlink run super slow. He was toping at around 8-11% speed and mine was topping around 20%. Now that's with synchro off and wireless adapter on. I made sure everything was set before linking. I don't think it;s because of my computer...it's pretty fast.

...to any of you who couldn't work with vbalink 1.8

...download the 1.6 version.

i have tested and succeed trading pokemon from emerald to rudy and vise versa.

my emulator is the exact same but it doesnt have the ''link'' at the bottom turns out i had the beta ! i downloaded the emulator with the link but i already got really far into the game on the beta emulator and idk how to open my current saved game into a diffrent emulator like the one with the link!!! please help!!!!!

@elliascool Rename your .sav files to .sa1 files. If playing multiplayer offline, the .sa1 filetype will only be recognized if playing as player 1, and .sa2 corresponds to player 2, etc.

me and mom are try to battle each other in sa2 sa3 sb malss (Sonic Advance 2, Sonic Advance 3, Sonic Battle, and Mario and Luigi : SuperStar Saga) and the Hamachi works. We have 1.7.2 and 1.8b0 of VBALink and no luck we've been trying for 4 hours!!!!! In MAL:SS only mom in Mario Bros get CHECKING screen in multiplayer. in the rest they dont find eachother. Please help!

Cant seem to load my save game files (from VBA), ends up (VBA LINK) not responding! Tried renaming my files etc and changing the save states (is, 64k, 128k) but again, no difference. Trying it in both 1.7 and 1.8 of VBALink, to no avail! Doesn't affect if it connected or not. Thanks!

I can only connect with a friend when we both uncheck "wireless adapter" and when we do the speeds are so slow we cant even get through the link menu of any game we try. We are trying to play over the internet in 2 different locations. Do you know of a known working game that we should be able to run at playable speeds to test? I hope I put enough info to analyze properly; sorry so many words =X thank you

Open both VBA and VBA Link and set the Frame Skip to automatic and the Throttle to 100% or No Throttle.

Increase the frame skip rate (Options>Frame Skip>9) and uncheck automatic.

Then disable the throttle (Options>Frame Skip Skip>No Throttle).

Also, try closing all programs other than Hamachi and VBA Link while you're playing.

Hey, my friend and I can connect our vbalinks together just fine, but when we try to do the multiplayer in the actual game either his or my emulator freezes or doesn't link correctly. The game's MMBN6, and because of these connection stability issues we can only get like one good match for every ten attempts or so. Any ideas on how we could make it a bit more stable?

The problem: We tried to run Shining Soul II via Hamachi and VBAlink 1.8, but it doesn't work.

So, we followed the 9 steps here, but we had to enable "Synchronize" again, because it ran with over 1000% and that was unplayable.

The connection via Hamachi works, but in the ingame link-connection, it seems like there isn't another Player connected.

We tried different settings and another link-timeout, but it still doesn't work. Do you know what we could do?

Try timeouts over 10k or under 2k. Also, you might want to set your regular VBA (not VBA Link) to have the speed boost at None or 100% then disable Synchronize on VBA Link.

I did everything so far but to no avail. Me and my friend want to make a test battle between Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen with Wireless Adapter emulation enabled but we can't communicate. We even tried switching places (me - server, him - client; and vice-versa) but to no good either.

BTW, why should the Synchronize option be disabled?

Where does it take your IP? Just tell the other player to use your Hamachi IP and you use their's.

Essentially, you don't need Hamachi, but it's highly recommended.

Hamachi provides high security, ability to quickly find online and active players, chat, high speeds, user management, and much more that you won't get without it.

link timeout in milliseconds "10000"

then it says I have the option to pick:

Sorry for the late reply.

Select LAN. If issues persist, then find the folder in which VBA Link is installed and delete everything in 'vbalog.txt' and repeat everything starting from step one on the video.

If it continues not working, try re-installing Hamachi and getting an equivalent ROM (you can keep the SAV file).

Just get the exact same ROM from a website (ie: emerald_rom_2336.gba) and then rename your SAV file to match it (ie: emerald_rom_2336.sav), only keeping the '.sav' part different. Then make sure that they're in the same folder (alone, if possible). Now set up Hamachi and join a network (if it's just you two playing, you can even make a network). Then follow the steps in the video.

Sorry for the really late reply.

On VBA Link, some cross-ROM games won't be compatible with each other (ie: Sapphire with Emerald), even though they normally would. I'm not sure if this is the case here, but you might want to both use the same ROM, just in case.

Yes, almost all GBA games compatible with Wi-Fi will work.

Those not compatible with Wi-Fi should still work flawlessly on the regular VBA emulator, not VBA Link.

Run Hamachi and get the window open. Then in the bottom right hand corner of the window, click the status button and select custom. Then type in 'Active' or 'Available' (or something close) and click OK. That's it.

also id like to point out the weirdness of four swords. although i use one pc. the network option usually link other games like battlenetwork 4 or 6. of course, i didnt really need to use network lol. (in order to use network on a single pc, for the client, simply leave localhost typed in the ip address if u wish.)

When playing Zelda: Four Swords, you have to set Timeout in Options/Link to above 10000 or below 200 - anything in between might make the game not link. Four Swords uses another type of connection that might work for some people but they will still experience many problems with it. VBA Link doesn`t support Four Swords yet. Please be patient over this game.

what is the secret to playing four swords over hamachi network? i got it to work by playing it with my self. not over hamachi. The secret? do not use network, it fails for me. i use single pc, link time out 100(or under 200 or over 10000), wireless unchecked, joypad 1 in emulator 1, joypad 2 in emulator 2. i use different controls for each emulator. also i definitely use synchro. however for network play with other games i definitely wont use synchro

ANSWER: For Pokemon ROMs you must change save type to 128k.
