I'm not surprised by the stiff charges, he attempted to deprive the state of potential revenue, and that's bad.
Now the cop who murdered the "wood carver" in Seattle WA. is out of hot water, even though the review board ruled that his actions were NOT justified. No charges will be filed.
It just shows the priorities:
Intentionally murder an innocent pedestrian = slap on the wrist.
Interrupt state revenue = Charge with felony... Go to prison.
