Fuentes settled with the city for $2,999 in 2006.
Cossette said that, during the internal affairs investigation, it was determined that Lawlor had lied about hear-ing shots. Lawlor had said that he thought Officer John Slepski was shot despite the video footage that shows Slepski standing next to Lawlor as he punches Hernandez.
The video then shows Lawlor leaving his cruiser and approaching the driver with his gun pulled. He throws a punch with the gun, drops it and picks it up, then uses the pistol for 12 more strikes. Cossette said Wednesday that Lawlor broke his gun during the assault. Hernandez's actions in the car cannot be seen on the video. After the assault, Lawlor can be heard in the audio portion telling Hernandez, "That was me being gentle," followed by two expletives.

The actual video is more than 4 minutes long and gives us plenty of video to come to our own informed judgement. "Walk a mile in their shoes before you judge". That is something said by someone that has never been in that situation. If that victim/suspect was your family member I am sure your opinion would change. That officer brutally beat a suspect because of his own issues. Hernandez should never have run but Lawlor should not have thought of himself as judge, jury, and executioner.

Lawlor had also been in trouble for disciplinary issues before. He was suspended in 2002 for 10 days without pay while working on the K-9 unit when police said Lawlor's dog bit a suspect. The incident occurred before Cossette was chief. i disagree, tho you can not see what the person was doing in the car you can clearly see the cop start hitting him almost right off the bat and what i find odd is the 2nd cop did not try and hit the person. that tells me the person was not fighting back in the car because if he was then the 2nd cop on the seen would not have just stood there.

"Civilians" are second class citizens to cops because that is what they are trained to believe.
