Are microgravity experiments still nixed or have conditions changed to allow rigourous mg experiments to proceed? If so what kind of experiments are being conducted?
Early space manufaturing conjecture talked about foamed stell and other things impossible to manufature in a gravity well. Is nasa still investigating using zero g processes to manufacture better, lighter, stronger launch systems?
1. What are the physical changes that take place within the body when transitioning back and forth between extreme atmospheric conditions (changes in gravity, oxygen levels, etc.)?
2. Health-wise, what must be done to "prepare" to go into space, other than the obvious health check-ups?
3. I assume health of all members on board the shuttle will check out before departure, but how would you handle an unexpected health risk, such as a heart attack, without a hospital?
I've wanted to ask a person who has been in space this question for a long time. Besides everyone else on the space station with you, are you alone out there? Have you seen any other crafts accompanying the station? Thanks for being truthful and keeping all of those who seek the truth in mind.
Hi Greg...Hope you can answer my question! I love to watch meteor showers at night and I am wondering do you see events such as these from space and if so what do they look like in your words? (Just saw an awesome one the other day here and it was so bright it turned a blue-green color as it went across the sky!!) Thank you and take care!!
my UK based year 5 class is studying the sun moon and stars in Science and would love to ask some questions. what is the turn around time for a response? thanks!!
How far away are we from living on the moon? could we mine other planets? Could we build a deathstar out of materials found on such planets? the question again
How long do you think it would be before man could build a deathstar?
people arnt as you put it taller in space.. however if your body was to undertake growth in space you would grow taller than what you would at earth, this is because of the lack of gravity, i read somewhere dont quote this as exact because i vaguely remember but if you were to be exposed to the gravity on the moon for your entire life you would grow to over 3m tall
If you drive a car at the speed of light, the front lights of the car will move at the speed of light in relation to you, i.e. as if you were still stationary. It's a theory developed by einstein.
You and other Astronauts & Cosmonauts live and work in such close proximity with each other. And let's face it, the human body produces odor. Different people different odors. Is that ever an issue? What does it smell like up there?
Anousheh Ansari described it as a combination of cooking odors and locker room. This is ameliorated by the fact that in microgravity, the nose is stopped up, and you cannot smell things as well as you could on Earth.
If what you said about the sense of smell is right, it might start to explain why astronauts and cosmonauts want much more spicier food while in space - especially on long expeditions ' than what would be usual here on Earth. Then again, one may just want variety...
Have you noted (seen) anything extremely odd, that cannot seem to be explained while looking out the window (not necessarily seeing E.T. waving at you)? Are you even allowed to share any of those thoughts with the public?
We don't know. However, it's statistically unlikely, even taking into account all the "billions of trillions of solar systems" that are out there.
The prevalence of belief that there MUST be alien life forms is rooted in philosophical naturalism, which supposes that there is nothing special about the earth or its place in the universe.
Planet Earth is blue, but isn't there anything you can do?

Why isn't Pluto considered a planet if it has it's own orbit and it's own satellite, Charon? Is it a moon? a Planetisimal?

Do you take a toilet with you on the shuttle, and do you then return the toilet when you return to earth ... if so, WHY?
How about putting up a cosmic outhouse and save the launch mass, I mean no one uses the head during launch, no?

A lot of Sci Fi movies have had 'Agro Domes' or biospheres on their stations.
How big would a biodome have to be to provide air for astronauts?
