I'm just amazed that not only has PJ Harvey put out another brilliant album, she put out an album that might turn out to be regarded as her best EVER. As a longtime fan, this is very exciting.
i always prefered her more blues-y music...but jeez louisa...this album is impeccable....listening to it...from start to finish....she's never done anything better.....as a WHOLE....but that's just my opinion....
mcdstuff & rigani23 thank you so much for your kind comments, have been hard at it since posting that comment and have one track nearly completed (just percussion to sort out) and several others what I would call 'forming'! I will send them to you when done in case your interested.
After many years of messing about I'm finally trying to write my own stuff and just wish I could write something remotely close to this. Depresses me that nothing like this pops into my head, must persevere though.
@scottchenery keep at it dude. what depresses me is seeing adults who have stopped playing music altogether. and like everyone else said, she has been doing this for a LONG time.
What I love about this album is the fact that it doesn't preach. It doesn't say war is good or bad. Just what it is: war. It's almost like a history lesson of humanity in the face of conflict? If that makes sense? It really is a brilliant album. PJ really outdid herself IMO.
I'm just amazed that not only has PJ Harvey put out another brilliant album, she put out an album that might turn out to be regarded as her best EVER. As a longtime fan, this is very exciting.

She says how much this album was informed by traditional Engish songs and folk music and the Smiths are just that!
Grateful to everyone who has posted songs from Let England Shake. I'll go and buy the cd tomorrow. I think it's fantastic.
