Thanks for clearing that up. Just dosen't sound the best noise coming from an engine before you get on the plane.... It was a nice and safe flight :o)
The blades are mounted loose on the fan rotor by design, so when the engine is windmilling that's the sound of them shifting, but when it'll spool up under its own power, the blades will all settle snug due to centrifugical force.
When I was on a flight with EasyJet I had the same noise and only Airbus have it, its the APU
