@souljaboyinthehood it looks like that difference within what is considered semi pro and professional is smaller these days. d7000 is perhaps all we need. check out... freedslr . co m remove spaces and get an opportunity win completely new Nikon D7000
@ajdotthizz It's supposed to be an SLR and the best feature it presents is when it allows the photographer to bring in his elements of interest in the picture, hence the finger-work around the body of the lens plays a primary role on that front!
I don't like mine 1000 D, then I red about it and my sigma 18-50 and realised that it was the sigma lens that sucked. I'm gonna buy Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM instead and hope it'll get better pictures.
Awesome camera, but for just around $84 more than the typical 1000D, you can buy a Nikon D3000 with an 18-55mm and a 70-300mm lens from Dubai duty free.
i was thinking and wondering if u would explain abt the lens in detail, but u didnt. So i have this question, I bought a Rebel XS/1000d and the kit it came along with is EF S 18-55mm. It doesnt have an Image Stabilizer. So here is my question, did the shop owner change the lens? And what i have actually found out later was, the seal pack was removed then he pasted a same DUPLICATE seal pack on top of that REMOVED Seal which eventually looked like it has never been removed or unboxed.
As you have not recorded in HD, the photo's are irrelevant as they are not coming out as crisp as they should be... please confirm that they are very crisp?
so is this a good camera for a beginer .im looking to take picturs at the bars of bands i know that are playing would this get the job done? its really cheap were its 299 new with a 4gb sd card and the starps included
There is no dealbreaker between this and the Rebel XSi/450D. The XSi is a better, no doubt, but is it worth the extra price? I'd say no. This camera is for people who don't know what Highlight Tone or Spot metering are.
@MrChill111 1000D definately <3, canon is most definately the best, ive had numerous nikon cameras, and they are terrible! they are just like some crap camera you buy for $20, but they look professional, not worth it! canon 1000D is AWESOME!
the good thing of eos 1000d u can still upgrade the lens, so... practically its cheaper than 450d but same result.... in that case, if you are a beginner, try this...
hi, can anyone help me: on canons website it says the 450d has an auto-iso of 100-400, but the 1000d has 100-800. i know on both u can manually go higher but surely thats a big problem with the 450d for it not to go automatically to 800?? also whats the auto ISO of the d3000. thhhhaaaankkks
I have this camera and it takes some great shots but there is a hefty learning curve for me. I have been trying to learn all the functions and ways to tweak pics for a week now. Practice, practice, practice.
@LibertadorMG Me too - but it's definitely worth it. I now look at my collection of 'point and shoot' photos and hang my head in shame! Photography is nearly as addictive as being an audiophile! And that has cost me thousands in my time! Looks like the start of a new expensive hobby for me.
hey can any one let me no if that wood b a good camera to start with i no i want a career in photography and i no my frist step is going from a ponit and shoot to a DSLR but with them there is alot more to take in then i thorght not just mp and zoom and shit hahah so i done abit of home work wood this camera b good or if not wat kind i want a good start off but want stop me taking pics of alot of dif stuff from my family shots to ones in night clubs to landcape just dont want to b held back
what i have a this camera in the video and then just another cannon but its point and shoot. having a bigger camera like this one is amazing but you also want to have a smaller one
@69jj90 im in the same position, i know i want a Canon but cant decide whether to get the 1000d or 450d? GRRRR i already have 2 lenses for canon cameras so HMMMM, HELP!
@thefilmmakerpro Hi yh i am not to sure to get the g1 or 450d, but the 450d is better and if u can't still decide go onto cameralabs and look at its review and its picture and noise results. 450d has been given a higher rating. Ask yourself do u really need all of the 450d's features, its more for professional rather than the 1000d which is for beginners.
@joscmc thanks for the reply, i think im going to get a 450d, i have found the canon factory outlet on ebay where i can get a 450d for the same price as a 1000d ish!
1000D and 450D differences are mostly aesthetic. 1000D has a 2.5" LCD.. 450D has a 3in LCD. both have same processor. 450D goes up to 3.9fps and the 1000D is only on 3.4fps.
Grip wise is different material, the buttons on the 450D are smaller due to the larger screen and eye detector under the viewfinder. 10.1 MP vs. 12.1 MP.. i prefer the 1000D though.. also... Infrared on 450D... besides those..essentially the same camera. =)
Get the XSi/450D instead of XS. The XSi is closer to the 40D in features and has a more comfortable grip. The high tone priority feature on the XSi is a godsend in bright sunlight.
i´m not and expert but could somebody tell me .wich are the greatest cameras for a lower price? talking about a good picture quality. because i want to buy one, to take pictures of my band
European viewers beware. To keep the price down in Europe, Canon have removed the good Image Stabiling 'IS' lens (as sold with the Rebel XS kit in the US) and replaced it with a cheap non-stabilised lens. To get the IS lens in Europe, you need to buy the 450D.
Im buying a my first DSLR tomorrow an im not sure if i should get the canon xs or the nikon d60 if anyone could give me a few reasons... I've already done plenty of homework on each I jus want to kno what others think thanks.
I love the shutter noise this camera makes! I prefer the noise much more than the d60 and a200, don't get me wrong but all three cameras are awesome. It's just that the Canon 1000d has a more appealing shutter noise =P
I'd say go wid the Canon 1000d. I have the same camera and I love it. Picture quality is just as good as the d60, but it has live view. More importantly the Canon 1000d is compatible to MORE lenses than the d60. Canon works with ALL EF and EF-S lenses. The D60 ONLY works with AF-S lenses.
SO get the Canon, and Canon is a bit cheaper than the d60 as well.
go with the canon 1000d, also because the canon has CMOS sensor , not CCD like nikon... or if u dont have so much cash u can alwasy buy a canon 350d it has just 8 MP but its verry good and cheap ...find in internet the price for d60 eos 1000d and eos 350d...or eos 400d ...
if u buy this model of camera and also some lens from Tamron or Sigma or Tokina, will fix exactly to the higher models from canon ? 450d or 500d ? or u must sell them and buy new ones ?
how is the camera when it comes to burst mode!??? please reply im lookin ether on this or a sony a200 whihc do u guys prefer and dnt be fan boys lol!???
Question: Is the Canon Rebel XS the same as the 1000D model? I want to buy the Guide book for the XS (as it is the only one available in my book shop) but a staff member in Jasops mentioned they're not the same :/ The title for this clip tells me otherwise (?) Help lol
Thanks for the review. My canon XS rebel camera is on the way and i am looking for the memory card for it. Could anyone please suggest if SanDisk 4GB SDHC will go with my camera. Will it be a good combination with my camera?
it is the best entry level IF you ditch the crap kit lens,Nikon makes superior kit lenses. The much cheaper D40 kit has superior image quality than the 1000d kit
Should I buy this, or Nikon D40, I've been doing some googling, but..
They cost the same on finland, both about 400 euros with the kit lens, but with Nikon D40 I would get SB-400 flash, but I'm not sure would I actually need it.. I'm amateur photographer and this would be my first camera, so, any suggestions?
D60 doesn't have live view for its LCD and doesn't have built-in Auto Focus. So thats where it falls down below the EOS.
Also the EOS 1000d/450d have much better noise reduction at high ISO settings (for low light) than the Nikon though the higher end Nikon D3's ISO capabilities are just exceptionally good!
But for the bottom end the Canon EOS 1000D/450D is better than the Nikon 40D/60D.
You might have bought a lens without auto focus or putted your lens on 'manual' focus so that has nothing to do with the camera. And my D40 battery runs for months so I don't see a problem in there.

I currently have a Fujifilm Finepix S2800HD and wanted to upgrade to a DSLR. I have three options:
I either get:
Nikon D3000 + 18-55mm VR + 55-200mm VR for 549€
or:
Sony DSLR-A390Y + DT 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 + DT 55-200mm F4-5.6 SAM for 559€
or:
Canon EOS 1000D + EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 + EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III for 499€
Which one is the best for a beginner?

450d or 500d ? or u must sell them and buy new ones ?
kmedia1983 2 years ago
EF lenses fit to all canon cameras
EF-S lenses fit to most canon cameras(the ones with a APS-C sized sensor)

Question: Is the Canon Rebel XS the same as the 1000D model? I want to buy the Guide book for the XS (as it is the only one available in my book shop) but a staff member in Jasops mentioned they're not the same :/ The title for this clip tells me otherwise (?) Help lol

im wondering which one i should get.
sony a200
canon xs
or nikon d40.
i been looking at many reviews and i still dont know which is better any help would be great thanks !
To0IcY 3 years ago
I would go with the xs.
but the d40 is also a good camera, it just doesnt have live view and "only" shoots at 6mp.
the a200 is also good but with sony you wont have as much choice of lenses as with canon or nikon.
The d40 and xs are similar price, but the xs has better features.
you could go for the d40 or the xs and be extremely happy with it.
but i would say that the xs is just a little bit better
scottonrust35 2 years ago
with the d40 you can't use any 3rd party lenses with it, only nikon ones.

your wrong sigma lenses work.. well sigma lenses made for nikon cameras..

Thanks for the review. My canon XS rebel camera is on the way and i am looking for the memory card for it. Could anyone please suggest if SanDisk 4GB SDHC will go with my camera. Will it be a good combination with my camera?
umjain2007 3 years ago
i think your better off getting just an sd card; on amazon right now you can find an 8gb SD card for about $15

it is the best entry level IF you ditch the crap kit lens,Nikon makes superior kit lenses.

I'm amateur photographer and this would be my first camera, so, any suggestions?

why not look at the nikon D60 , also 10mp , and with a stabilized lens as well. i thin i has a more user friendly interface
redlipstick678 3 years ago
I decided to buy used, maybe D80 or some canon.
JereHakala 3 years ago
D60 doesn't have live view for its LCD and doesn't have built-in Auto Focus. So thats where it falls down below the EOS.
Also the EOS 1000d/450d have much better noise reduction at high ISO settings (for low light) than the Nikon though the higher end Nikon D3's ISO capabilities are just exceptionally good!
But for the bottom end the Canon EOS 1000D/450D is better than the Nikon 40D/60D.

how does it compare to Sony A200 ?
malayneum 3 years ago
I have a Nikon D40, it rocks, I think it's better then this one. Also, take a look at the Nikon D60 :)
ForbFb 3 years ago
I'm not going to touch D40, D40x, D60, since they don't have autofocus built in, I will buy 450D, since I can get it for same price.

nikon d60 is just terrible sorry
BensCrazyVideos 3 years ago
Why?
ForbFb 3 years ago
i had it and you cant get it to focous and there is a verry low battery life
BensCrazyVideos 3 years ago 3
You might have bought a lens without auto focus or putted your lens on 'manual' focus so that has nothing to do with the camera. And my D40 battery runs for months so I don't see a problem in there.
