I love flying, but I won't fly again until the TSA is in smouldering ruins and their employees are in the bread lines. Now just because it was originated in a foreign airport, does not mean it cannot be tried again, or here. @apparition2 Walk though metal detectors have been used by the TSA since the beginning. Bomb sniffing dogs are also used. The bomber did board with a valid Nigerian passport. I think that TSA Officers are much more at risk from disease from having to deal with so many people. Pilots are not exempt from screening and are required to display identification, not just a uniform.

TSA Workers are NOT police, they do not have any police powers. They can only make a citizens arrest. They are the same as a mall cop. They do not have the right to question you about anything. @apparition2 Walk though metal detectors have been used by the TSA since the beginning. Bomb sniffing dogs are also used. The bomber did board with a valid Nigerian passport. I think that TSA Officers are much more at risk from disease from having to deal with so many people. Pilots are not exempt from screening and are required to display identification, not just a uniform.

In my oppinion the most likly thing that happened was an aileron malfuntion which caused the altitude of the plane to drop without any way of going up. I used to give the entry exams for the TSA screeners. These are the DUMBEST people in Amerrica. We have given nearly unlimited authority to complete morons with no education, nearly no training and terrible judgement. The TSA needs to be dismantled and an agency which employs educated, intelligent, and well trained professionals needs to replace it.

TSA Workers are NOT police, they do not have any police powers. They can only make a citizens arrest. They are the same as a mall cop. They do not have the right to question you about anything. Not about your job, why you are carrying money, and they do not have a right to touch you without your permission. They can not question you about matters, except look through your luggage.
