  • About 3 years late but the main reason converters exist other than the slot size difference is that MVS carts have a special chip which decodes graphics built into the cart whereas the AES carts don't. The AES system itself has this chip built in. Because of how the chip works, you can't plug an MVS cart in without modifying the data or the cart.

  • The main reason the AES carts or more expensive is because they were not mass produced like the MVS carts.

  • How much was the original price of an AES cartridge

  • Wow. Your MVS cart looks so shiny. How do you clean?

  • The Neo Geo was marketed as 24-bit, though it was technically a 16-bit system with an 8-bit Zilog Z80 as coprocessor. The coprocessor was generally used for sound processing.

  • I bought a Neo Super MVS/SNK converter II for my AES system so now I can play MVS on my AES LOL! It's a dream come true :D Thanks for the vid!

  • Do you know where I can get a cheaper MVS to AES adapter?

  • Why couldn't the home carts be the same as the MVS carts? SNK would have killed the competition if the AES had the same slot as the MVS, and marketed the MVS carts for the home user.

  • i think neo geo is a 32bit sistem

  • @LMassacreproductions It's technecally a 24 bit system, but some ppl consider cit a 16 bit system

  • @TreasureChestReviews i didn't even know that 24 bit sistems even existed

  • @LMassacreproductions pfft, the neo geo can do nething...haha

  • @TreasureChestReviews So true........

  • @LMassacreproductions Negative. Its 24 bit.

  • so the aes games also say insert coin and have infinite continues????

  • Consolized Neo Geo MV-1FZ System $469 at Neotropolis

  • reminds me a big VHS cassets back in the day and i say -IT'S FUCKING COOL cartridges, super nes carts was coolish bild quality, but these AWESOME good-big and handle

  • u should add some game demo on different systems as well

  • I have a little question, since you said that Aes cant fit into MVS consoles, becasue the AES is larger cart, how aboutthe opposie, if I insert an MVS cart into a neogeo that accepts AES, will it work?

  • no because the board sizes are different

  • Sadly not. The MVS games used to cost way more than AES, now its totally the opposite.

  • I saw a transparent MVS Cart at a local game store

  • I have a transparent Supersidekicks - best football game in the World IMO!

  • just picked u 6 MVS carts today..

    this helped alot :D

    Thanks Luke.

  • True! ^^I like their size! ^^

  • And thats the reason why I love my MVS, its cheaper to get games for it! But still, these AES games are so beatiful ... if only the MVS could play those! :'(

  • They are nice but the MVS are cool as well - they are EVEN BIGGER!! Raagghh!! XD Compare them to a wimpy CD/DVD or SNES cartridge back in the day - no contest.. Big beefy carts - thats where its at..

  • Great comparison Luke. It's interesting that the prices of the games today are such a big difference.

  • i got a metal slug mvs conversion for the aes last night for £125 on ebay, comes with artwork and box etc, beats paying £1,200 haha even if it isin the original aes

  • nice intresting vid luk thanks!

  • Just to let you know that if you turn 360º you end up in the same place you were before, so the MVS carts would stay the same, much more expensive than the AES ones... you meant 180º right?

  • Good vid man, very interesting when you took of the case and showed the boards, never seen the boards b4 - nice 1!!

  • $1300, jeez. thank god for emulation.

  • yes, thank god

  • Wow those Neo Geo carts are sure unique. I wouldn't have though they would have 2 boards. Very cool :D

  • I understand that the AES was available from 1990 until 2004, which is quite amazing. Of course the AES was expensive for its time and I've never used one, but I wouldn't mind downloading some AES games onto my brother's Wii, as you can buy NeoGeo games via the virtual console shop channel. Was the NeoGeo CD released outside of Japan? Could you play MVS games on the AES?

  • You would have to buy a Neo Geo MVS To AES Converter. In order to play MVS carts in your AES. Also some MVS games may give you techinal difficulties on your Neo Geo AES Such as (KOF 2003, Metal Slug 5 and Snk Vs, Capcom SVC Chaos) You can also buy an MVS Mother board and consolize it yourself.

  • Cool I didn't know that carts had two boards inside.

  • i will never own the neogeo, lol no job = no money = no consoles to collect haha, plus i will stick to emulating these, i might get a arcade Stand where i can usb it to my pc and play that way x,x

  • poor mvs cart :( lol nice comparison. That price for metal slug is insane! i wish i had one!

  • blazing star is also way up there too...man collecting this system is gonna be expensive LOL

  • i always wondered if the mvs would fit in the home version i guess not lol...im almost ready to sell my 360 just to get ahold of a neo geo i dont care if its less underpowered but i love the neo geo cuz of hell its an arcade in the home

  • You've never been tempted to get the MVS > AES converter?

  • you have a 180º turn around, if you do 360º you come back to the same place. XD

  • Lol, damn, that happens from time to time XD

  • who needs a xbox360 or ps3 or something like that?,the neogeo owns!!

  • Great video mate, did you have a look at that ZED BLADE link I sent? I can't get over how mint it was.
