@ComradeNF not in my top 3 bud. see im more a fan of that old epicness, the real prominent lead melodies and stuff. but dont get misconstrued, i LOVE all in flames. among my top 5 favorite songs is minus (from R2R), and my absolute favorite right now, is satellites and astronauts, (from clayman). the album listing is mainly an averaging out, just shwoin my overall appreciation of that band on a different scale, and that list rarely if ever deviates form what it is now.

What I loved so much about this album to is it was extremely well mixed for it's time,genre and budget. You can hear the bass so well and the drums. Everything is very clear yet thick

is it just me or do I hear a little bit of a Megadeth influence here...? starting around 1:55 I forgot I was listening to In Flames for a second while I was reading people's comments. And for people saying they sold out, that's what every band has to do to make it anywhere. @wexenhex Actually, I have since listened to Jester Race a bunch of times; better than Lunar Strain and Whoracle, but I think I still prefer Colony. But even with Colony, it's been a while since I listened to it. I'll have to give that one a revisit one of these days.

@LarshHarry I used to be one of the people who actually did that, before I started listening to more music and looking at how it was composed, played, presented, etc. While I'm not gung-ho for their newer work, I still carry a great respect, because they're the same musicians, and their music is still carried through as individuals, simply individuals changed over the years. Same as not liking the chick you dug in high school, when you're in college. Or vice versa. Y'know?

Don't get me wrong, I like new In Flames, but they pale, really really PALE in comparison to old In Flames, and I think thats the problem here. It's not that they changed, change can be good, its that they changed AND got worse off compared to what they were like.

The only song that really impressed me guitar wise was Alias, I thought that was really cool.....kind of had a clayman/jester race feel to it.....other than that, i was frankly disappointed.....some of the lyrics are really good, and the chosen pessimist is a masterpiece in my opinion.

In Flames did indeed change for monetary, and inevitable reasons, but they have good reason to have done so !. in flames began with a passion with what they do. anders and jesper wanted to send a message out to the world to be heard !. but then after they become famous, their voices heard, all their fans just blindly follow them with their hands in the air saying IN FLAMES WE TRUST!. no one truly understands their message and hes given up hope ! .. just look at his modern lyrics it makes sense=(

Anders is a fricken genius, and trust me when i say every album follows a very specific concept. thats why every In Flames album has a different sound, different feel, different message, like it or not. Ive studied in flames a long time now, and more than enough to know the importance of their message. Sorry if i seem critical, but every concept album has a specific IDEA to follow, and if you let your mind stray from that, then you will not understand

@LarshHarry I used to be one of the people who actually did that, before I started listening to more music and looking at how it was composed, played, presented, etc. While I'm not gung-ho for their newer work, I still carry a great respect, because they're the same musicians, and their music is still carried through as individuals, simply individuals changed over the years. Same as not liking the chick you dug in high school, when you're in college. Or vice versa. Y'know?

@LarshHarry No, really, that's incorrect. Look at Dark Tranquillity, they are different yet sameish in every album. Still MDM, just tweaking their sound. Don't get me wrong, I like new In Flames, but they pale, really really PALE in comparison to old In Flames, and I think thats the problem here. It's not that they changed, change can be good, its that they changed AND got worse off compared to what they were like.

The only song that really impressed me guitar wise was Alias, I thought that was really cool.....kind of had a clayman/jester race feel to it.....other than that, i was frankly disappointed.....some of the lyrics are really good, and the chosen pessimist is a masterpiece in my opinion.
