  • The first truck I ever drove! ( Not counting the the Ford 9000 a friend of my dad let drive down the highway at age 14 from behind the wheel at 2 a.m. on a Saturday morning from Kalamazoo to Grand Rapids. :-) )

  • Im lookin at a 1980 Transtar thats single axle with no sleeper. has a 290 cummins with a 10 speed. its a solid lookin old truck, iv gotta get batteries and throw in it so i can start it to hear it run before i buy it but we had a 2070A truck once with a 290 in it and i loved it.

  • Gotta love "Boneshakers." Best lookin' COE's ever. Thanks for sharing. Many smiles.

  • Transtars will always be my favorite. My first truck in 86 when i started driving was a 79 transtar with a 400 cummins and 13 speed.

  • beautiful video, beautiful cabovers!

    Congratulations from Brazil

  • My dad used to own a '72 IH Transtar cab-over with the sleeper back way back when...I remember a few excursions I took with him...Dammned if it didn't feel like riding in the front end of a bus, only a little higher...

  • remember my dads old transtar II

  • At 1:35 The one with tilted cab is not Transtar but Unistar CO 7044, more powerful than Transtar, with 4WD and a removable rear axle. I don't know how many units were made but I'm sure that they were very few.

  • who is that singing that song awsome!!!!!!

  • Nice video. I remember my first ride in my dads transtar

  • the real american work horse

  • my first truck, 77 transtar with a shiny 290, 10 speed, hendrickson suspension, no power sterring , no air conditioning, that was truckin!!!!

  • Nice vid cool song

  • I loved them old Transtars. Beautiful trucks!!

  • The stretched '79 with the Dalmatian spots on the lower belongs to a buddy of mine! Was cool to see it in your video.

  • We have one at home too..... a big cam IV & 13 make her a real powerhouse.....no need to update, she hauls the mail.

  • Found me a late 70's Transtar in the local trader paper. 200K miles, 8V92T, excellent original condition...basically as nice as you could expect to find. And...for $5000. I'm very tempted.

  • The second pic hope he was ok

  • Awesome vid!!! When we moved out here to Oregon from Maryland in '79, The Global Van Lines semi trailer that hauled our stuff was pulled by an IH Transtar sleeper cab COE, Awesome rigs!!!

  • gotta love the ole "Cornbinders" ................. Miss seeing them on the road!

  • The Transtar Eagle @ 0:50 paint scheme is really nice. Those were sharp looking trucks.

  • Miss these trucks, I remember seeing so many of these on the road when I was a kid.

  • Man!!!! i hope the driver of the tanstar, was okay in the first pat of the vid!!!!

  • Miss seeing these COEs on the road immensely. They have gone the way of the dinosaur and stripping shovel

  • BRINGS ME BACK

  • Nice video---thanx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That was a great video!!!

  • Damn.... That brings back some memories. My first Big truck. 1977 Transtar. 350 Big Cam Cummins, I was road ready!!!!!!!!!

  • I LOVE OLD COMMERCIAL TRUCKS

  • first truck i learned to drive was a 1973 International Transtar Eagle, with 318 detroit & 13 speed transmission

  • I miss my old '77 Cornbinder, 318 Detroit, 13 over.

    Thanks for the memories.

  • Thanks for the memories.

  • 4:15 I like the old gmc astro in that pic also them and the IHC transtar to me these were very well built trucks! didn't most of the old transtars from the 70's had 290 cummins in them?? I know some had the 400 but they're the same engine as the 290. I never seen one with a cat or detroit in them.

  • happy to see frank spinola transtar thanks for this good moment

  • sad that the older trucks are gonna dissapear and get changed for the new plastic ones...love the older stuff with the chrome. i like the one at 1;50 and 3;20 the most. nice vid fumess! 5stars

  • I loved that Australian "Road Train" Model!! About how many of those were built and were they constructed in Australia and or New Zealand? And does I-H still maintain plants over there?

  • Loved the North American Van Lines pics. North American was broken into 3 divisions: 1) Bedbuggers, 2) Electronics, and 3) New Products. My father worked in new products starting in 1976. Something I never understood, in new products (van freight) you had to have a single back axle truck, due to taxes. I guess with the old weight limits, the single axle didn't hurt you. I was glad when he quit and bought a K100 but I still have a place in my heart for the old International COE.

  • 萌え☆

  • yes they did make a big bunk i think from 66 to 76 they where the small bunk and from 77 till 81 they were big bunks and u can tale by the big bunks by the sleeper vent window has no ring around it its a smooth cab were as the small cab vent window sets in with a ring

  • i cut my teeth on a 77transtar we called it mellow yellow 400cummins 13speed great truck i to get a lump in my throat watching this...nice vid!

  • It was a 79 big the brown one was a 77

  • my bad bub i got'em confussed....SORRY!!

  • there's always been something really creepy about the cabovers, especially the bullnose...idk but they kinda scare me for some reason...but i like them...

  • Didnt they made a big bunk version too?Anyone help me with this question...I would drive one tomorrow if I wasnt going far.

  • NO, they never made a wide bunk.

  • Shortly after asking this question I went to Transtars and Goats here on U tube and at 3:07 there is one to prove it.Have a look.I knew it....

  • I checked it out your right its a bigger sleeper. Might be a custom job. Thats the only one I ever seen, you think they would have sold more than one of them.

  • I was sure when I was a kid Id seen one on a lot once while shopping with my Pop.

  • my first truck

  • BEAUTIES!! ran a 71 4070 A model & moved up to a 75 B model in 85. they got a spot in my heart forever. Thanks for the memories!

  • where did they all go ? i still think they were a nice looking truck very tight on the inside . i spent alot of time in them as akid and when i started driving in 1983

  • can you recall which Transtars would be available for sale? thanks from rick

  • And lot of owner operator still like the cabover but wish they made a bigger sleeper something like a 100 to 120" on 260"wheel base.Something like a trucking highway camper.Clime out then clime back in from the side.

  • My first road trip was in a trans star in 1977.Love the road ever since.MSJR

  • I made a lot of money in a 1975 "one legged" Transtar and a shiny 290 cummins, hauling sticks from Ky and NC to eastern US. it was a time when "buttons, pump shims, and big cams, could make a single stack blow blue flames, that was fun, but, no power steering, poor heat and almost no A/C, and most of your sleeping was over the doghouse. and nothing but AM radio. but like I said I made a lot of money.

  • It's really too bad the American COE is not part of any manufatcurers future.

  • I put on a lot of miles in that model cab.. She ran great, was dependable, but the sleepr sucked.. small cramped and uncomfortable.. But it was a job

  • awsome video a lot of memories,my dads first truck as an O/O was a transtar,I get a lump in my throat every time I see one..

  • the one at 0 15 mark is nice, great vid

  • When I drove it for my friend. I had him put new tires on it and battery's. one Year later I bought it from him for $2000..The front end is tight (no wobble) the rest is in very good shape too. Heck the 8 track even works....

  • Have you done a montage yet of the Newport Cabovers (CO 9670-9800 series)??

  • Thanks guys. I have driven a lot of cab overs in my past and I have to admit that, The transtars will always be in my heart. The orange one at 2:20 was my dads. also the one that I spent most of my childhood jump seat time in. The blue and white one @ 3:30 is mine. I bought it from a friend of mine and I'm the forth owner. It spent most of its life in southern Fla. then up here it was parked in a warehouse at all times.

  • I want the one at 3:21. Maybe one of these days i get my 76 4070 goin. Good video

  • Well done! gotta love those ol' transtars

  • why dont they have european cabovers in the queens canada?

  • Im proud to say I was taught how to drive a 74 Transtar when I first started truckin'.....This brings back memories....

  • Thanks for the music. I'm a Guy Davis fan also.

  • I like COE's, and the 4070B is one of my favorites.

  • I mean the orange one at 2:10

  • Thanks guys. I know about the bumps of the cab overs. I too drove many of them. the orange one at 2:20 was my dads and the blue and white one with the fifth wheel at 3:30 is mine. I'll do a couple more when I get time. I have about 1500 transtar pictures alone......

  • Very nice... I was going to do one just like this but my vid was over 10 min long so youtube wouldnt let me upload it... And yes i had over 10 minutes long of just transtar pics!!! 5/5

  • Love it!! Old school trucking!! All though I cant stand driving one of those cab overs...ahhh the bumps!! 5 stars!!

  • Yeah and laying down to put your pants on just makes me crazy.
