  • A ONE MAN UNIVERSE!!Rahsaan "left" the planet 33 years ago(!),but I still very much feel his presence.Truly one of the great bringers of joy!!!

  • WHERE AN EARTH DID THIS COME FROM??? THE QUALITY LOOKS GOOD ENOUGH TO BE A DVD???

  • Oh my fucking god!!!! Thanks so much for posting this gig... I have been wanting to see it for TEN YEARS!!!!! Amazing... sometimes I wanna poke my own eyes out just so I can see the light... tis blinding... HIGH HEEL SNEAKERS!!!!!

  • Saw Hilton Ruiz with Frank Foster about a dozen years ago. What a Ham!So sad we lost him recently.Kirk died much before his time as well.Suck it up while your here!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 0:36: some horns can really play alone, hah, hah

  • thanks for posting

  • What song is he playing? That's such a groovy tune

  • Hi-Heel Sneakers

  • Couldn't get the audio from the live performance?

  • very good, in 1975 he had a stroke

and could only play one at one instruments

this track -own composition- "echoes of a primitive ohio and chili dogs from 1975' "the case of the 3 sided dream in audio color lp.

  • on down beat 1975, he was able to play both his tenor and the stritch at the same time

either he managed to get both hands to play, or he had the stroke after this

  • he usually plays a strich, a manzello and a tenor, usually simultaneously....rrk does not play alto!

  • is that a alto sax. the bell is a little small for a alto.

  • That thing is freaky, I have no idea what it is or why he's playing it.

  • i think i figured it out

its called a saxello, its like a smaller menzello, which kirks plays alot.

  • It's too big to be a saxello, which is a kind of soprano. I think it might be a weird brand of c-melody sax.

  • possibly

  • i looked it up, its not melody sax.

  • its a stritch, a not as bent alto sax

  • I think it's listed as a "baby Eb alto sax" in the book "Bright Moments."

  • cool

  • Oh, that makes sense. I have that album and wondered what it meant by that.

  • it sounds wonderful but it's a "tad bit off" !

  • I am not sure what you mean by that ...

  • Thanks for the great video!!!

By the way, I noticed that the audio gets out of synch when you watch it in high quality, although it's no problem in normal quality. Probably this is what karboniiti referred to in his comment. I guess it's not the poster's fault but the problem caused by YouTube's system.

  • Ok, i see. I was not consciously trying to put up a high quality version anyway. So better watch it in normal quality, people.
