The only drums that he uses triggers on are the bassdrums and that is very common in extreme metal, because its hard to get a clean sound from the bassdrums at those speeds. And i have seen live setups of his set with bassdrum microphones.

Not getting why you think Inferno's playing in this vid is weak. Uh, yeah, that's what a drum set sounds like, acoustically. What's your point? Many people think that triggers are something used on the pedals to makes your feet go faster. YES you can go faster with triggers in the way you described it but I hit exactly as hard with triggers as i do without triggers. I use my trigger ONLY for the sound. So YES i do have a trigger but only for the bassdrum.

Derek, whom I am a great fan of, is very methodical and musical with his playing. His musicianship is to embelish and bring the production full circle. He's not a drummer, hes a musician.
Inferno on the other side, who I am also a fan of, is very beat and "metronome" oriented. He is the driving force behind the scenes of the bands and enforces it.

@KnoffMan this video sucks because inferno is not a good drummer, it's not about the drumkit or something, is because if he don't have his pedal settings his triggers and his snare tension very thight he cant play anithing of his behemoth songs, just look at his hand techique when he play slow. i think that he is only fast but he doesn't have tecnique or groove. drummers like derek roddy can play a nile song on a table and without pedals. sorry for the english

@ThEpUrEfUcKiNmEtAl Well to be honest with you, Derek Roddy and Inferno are in two completely different worlds of metal and playing ideologies. Derek, whom I am a great fan of, is very methodical and musical with his playing. His musicianship is to embelish and bring the production full circle. He's not a drummer, hes a musician.
Inferno on the other side, who I am also a fan of, is very beat and "metronome" oriented. He is the driving force behind the scenes of the bands and enforces it.

@RazorShultzor well seeing as I'm not a drummer, I can't do so. but as a musician who's tried out many a drummer, I can say that if someone played like that at an audition....there would be much doubt as to there skill. I mean, I can play that. YOU can probably play that. Kolias is quite skilled though, and I'm sure this guys better than he seems but he sure doesn't show it in this vid.

@RazorShultzor No, it doesn't take skill because all you need to do is play 16th notes over and over to a metronome until you get to about 250 bpm and realize that it's completely inapplicable in any other circumstance. It isn't hard, just fast. You're wrong, there are many other methods of determining skill (speed isn't really one of them, like creativity, feel (only on drums, this is called "phrasing" on guitar), improvisation, versatility in more... and George falls short in all of those.

nile are great musicians but i just dont feel the energy with them, behemoth i think are way more aggresive and darker. go check out some nile interviews, they talk like a bunch of lazy stoners and then check out nergal, he sounds and looks like he is permanantly wired and it totally comes through in the song writing. all niles songs sound the same and are all played around the same bpm, behemoth have more variation and are way more musically interesting, nile bore me. imo behemoth destroy nile.

Yeah, Kollias hands down.
Inferno is straight up Death metal,
Kollias is Jazz trained and he has feel like you wouldn't believe.
So he's more creative and expressive.
Both of them own though, I fucking love Behemoth. :)
