One good way to tell if these are hobo's is if their abdomen has these shevron patterned markings and have boxer glove shaped palps in front of their face. These are also closely related to the house spider and giant house spider, so they can be hard to tell apart sometimes, they don't have boxer gloves though, thats one difference that I know of.

I just had one of these in my house last night.  I wanna say it's a giant house spider. I'm in WA, so we probably have similar species. Everyone is saying...oh it's a hobo spider, but it looks darker than the pics I've seen. My spider was about this size and retarded fast. Also, I killed him three times before he decided to actually die.

Yeah, there was a waterbug crawling around my bedroom, damn thing wouldn't give up for nothing, I chased it around for 30 minutes until I squished it with a shoe. I didn't have any paper towels so I put it under the bedside table, it's head wast sticking out and twitching, I got it up finally. Good video, always good to see a good spider-killing vid.

They are quite common over here in Germany, completely harmless, although they look a bit intimidating.

@PaganShredhead lots of spiders look like this, but it's a hobo spider which are plentiful and native to oregon. They're do some tissue damage if they bite you

@PaganShredhead also, we have a pocket of those spiders in the nw, but other than that they're only found in europe. The spider in this video doesn't spin a web. It hunts and is aggressive. They will bite. The bite will give the same reaction as a bite from a brown recluse
